  1. I finally got around to working on the Venture. Got it running last night and took it for a hour long ride up weber canyon and Trappers Loop - That’s the success part. The bad part is it really does not want to start. With the enrichment on it will pop out the carbs a few times then back fires out the left side enough that the end cap on that side is blown halfway down the street. Usually it takes about ten min of work (some throttle, starter fluid) to get it to start once it starts it runs good. I plan on pulling the carbs and giving them a good cleaning. As I am cleaning them is there anything that I need to be looking for? No need to pull them apart and put them back together with bad parts that I don't know about.
  2. Anything my wife cooks is great as leftovers...Only problem is my son (16) and daughter(18) get to it before I do.
  3. Planes are still falling in that area. happened again just a couple of weeks ago. Cedar is probably much nicer.
  4. I lived in Roy about 10 years ago. Just down from Roy High School on 2675. Liked the area but hated the Railroad tracks in the backyard.

  9. Looks like it might be the coils. I have 3.6 on the primary coil and it reads an open circuit on the secondary. The outside temp is at 60* so I do not know if that affects it much.
  10. I just retested the battery and it gets 12.67 volts.
  11. I have an 83 Venture that will not start using the starter. The engine turns over then backfires. the fuel pump does come on. I can bump start and it runs great once started. I have checked the battery, it has a good 12 volts. I have replaced the battery cables with 4 gage wires. I also have replace the old fuse box with a new blade type box. I get an initial spark to all the plugs but after a revolution or two no spark except for the left rear it always seems to have a good spark. I have pulled the spark plug wires clipped have inch off each end and re-attached with no change. I have read something about the ignition switch causing the back two cylinders to not fire. What do I need to look for with that? I have the faring off to be able to get to the coils and the TCI. I will be testing the coils resistance today. I have service manual. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
  12. Posted pictures of my newly purchased(traded) bike on other non venture sites and MiCarl suggested this site and so far I like what I see.
