  2. Now that explains it..............
  3. We are at about 23,000 with a good 6 weeks left of riding so maybe we will end up at around 28,000 or so.
  4. Sold my trailer to one of thr members on here (Sylvester) so Eusa1 and I are going to go for a ride and take it down to B2 Mom and Dads and leave it at their place til Jim can come and pick it up. So anyone between Eureka, IL and Dresend TN wants to take a ride come and join us.
  5. I noticed that a couple of the biggest complainers don't even ride the Royal Star Venture. I like mine. I like the styling and the ride and the looks. Really the only things I would have liked to seen was fuel injectiion and anti lock rear brake. Other that than I don't want them to change much. If I wanted to ride a bike that looks and rides like a gold wing I'd buy one. I'd have a Electra glide except for two reason, Cost and air cooled.

  10. Infinity Speakers, That is what I replaced mine with and I love them. Can crank it to 25 with bass set at 5 and treble at 1 and it sounds great.
  11. Well it should be easy to check on the warranty. In servece date plus 60 months. Only thing is they will replace with same old speakers. Update to better ones and you will be a happy camper.
  12. Hasn't it? I made about $85 a week in 1974 and gas was around 45 cents a gallon. After doing some desciffering I believe my wages have went up more than gas, percentage wise.
  13. Annie and Allan, Glad we (Shirley and I) Got to meet up with you two. Enjoyed you all staying at our house and our ride to B2Mom and Dads and the adventure to Vogel. You all ride safe and tell all your Aussie friends to become mebers of our site and read about your adventures in the states. Good luck with all your legal maters. Your Friends Rick and Shirley
  14. Did you really have to use that for an excuse to go for a ride?
  15. I passed a Venture on the Red River Gorge Road Saturday in Kentucky. I believe it was a Red and Silver 03 but not 100% sure. Was wondering if it was anyone from the board. It was in a group of 6 or 7 headed south.
  16. No I did not have to drop a gear and it still had the power (almost) as it should. It just ran like a v-twin and you could feel it in your feet and hands. It really ran like it was running on 3 cylinders. I assume that the cap wasn't sealing with the screw missing and the other loose which caused the cap to start to seperate. With the seperation the seal on the cap didn't seal the way it was suppose to, to the tank.
  17. As some of you know I have been battleinga rough running issue in 4th and 5th gear under a load for 3 months now, also popping and some back firring when slowing down or coasting down hill. Anyway on our trip it got worse and really hammered under a load in 4th and 5th gear. My mileage also dropped from 41 mpg to around 37mpg. Over the last couple of months I have done everything I could think of to fix the problem but it just kept slowly getting worse. I had also noticed that the gas cap was becoming a little hard to take off and put back on. Well today I happened to look at the bottom of the cap and noticed there are two little screws tjhat hold the locking part to the top of the cap. Well one of the srews were missing and the other one was 4 turns loose. After tightening it up it went back on like it was suppose to and low and behold my problem was solved. The bike ran smooth again and 2 tanks later I averaged 41.7 MPG. What a wonderful feeling to have it running the way it used to. So everyone check the little screws in their gas cap to be safe. Not sure where the one went that is missing but will take off the tank and drain to see if it is insidce or not. Evidently the tank needs to be sealed tight by the gas cap for it to run correctly.
  18. Well we made it home from WV safe and Sound. No Arain and a bunch of backroads and little two lanes on the way.
  19. Dan we did get in some riding yesterday and had a great time and a great ride. Went up through MD and PA then worked our way back to the house we are staying at. As for the bridge we arfe going down there on our way home when we leave Friday. I have 55 acres over by Prestonsburg Kentucky I want to check on so it makes the trip to the bridge right on the way. Anyway everyone have a great day we are headed off to explore some more. Rick
  20. When you are old and fat it is much easier to taked the bag off than it is to ly down on the ground to remove the drain plug and then try and get back up.
  21. If it was a 2nd gen i"d say not to worry about it............but it being a 1st gen you better find where it belongs cause something is gonna fall off.
  22. They hav e the dealers meeting set to start September 12th I believe so we should hear something pretty quick after that. Runors are v-twin 1900 may be in the New Venture.
  23. Take the left saddlebag off, it makes it much easier
  24. I usually put in "NEw" oil when I change mine............ All joking aside doesn't really matter as long as you change it regular. I use Valvoline 10/40 for motorcycles.
  25. Me too and I get the same miles except the front I got 23,000 out of it.
