  2. There probably hould have been a zero option, but, I modified a poll once(after it had run a week or so) and all the data dissapeared... so..... I would be very hesitant to do it now. Sorry...
  3. I've never seen a tool i didn't like...... Sometimes it get's me into trouble...LOL What are you cleaning the inside if the machine off with?
  4. If your kickstand is down it wont start unless your in neutral. believe its a saftery feature so that you dont take off with the kickstand down,,,
  5. Now thats one i don't have. But will soon as i get up to Lowes. The key to oil filters is to thourougly clean surfaces with dry rag and coat the filters rubber gasket with oil. then screw on as tight as you can with your hand then tighten 1/8th to 1/4 turn with a wrench.(socket/strap/metal loop...whatever works) Bought a used truck once that I had to physically hammer and chisel the doublled edge to get the filter off. No way do they have to be that tight. I NEVER take my bike or car for that matter, to a shop for oil changes. Advance auto will take your used oil.
  6. Well, enough time has passed and I was more than a little surprised at the variety of responces here. Especially since only a handful of people knew what was going on in the threads in question. It was bad enough to be deleted and you'll just have to take my word for it. I would like to apologize to Redneck at this time for my part in this. I can only hope it won't leave any permanent emotional scars... LOL This is one of the more hospitable forums on the internet. And I'm hoping it stays that way.
  7. Believe i read somewhere the baloon cost +$250,000 It was toast anyway since it hit the ground in a wind gust. They said if the baloon even grazes a pebble on the ground it would make the entire baloon unsafe. Where do you sign up for that...LOL Hope he makes it in the next couple days. hes been preparing for this for seven years. aslo: kinda reminds me of a shot in the last Startrek film... where Kirk and Sulu do the same thing above Vulcan but from outer space
  8. Keep the Jag... Buy this instead: http://www.snowmobile.com/manufacturers/yamaha/2013-yamaha-nytro-mtx-162-turbo-review-video-1589.html
  9. Dang! Mission aborted...
  10. As per CNN launch in 20 min and will take 2 1/2- 3 hrs to achieve altitude...
  11. Wind conditions improved. 30 million cf balloon is being laid out. Felix Baumgartner's suit up procedure is complete. Launch @ 11:15 MDT http://www.redbullstratos.com/
  12. Even though he was being uncourteous driving in the passing lane, and, not passing, the rules of the ocean apply. Remember you're the ones on the bike. He could just as easily run you and your wife off of the road. With all of the hot heads on the roads these days, when they do smething i dont like, i just pass, or get away from them... period. After moving over in his mirror view and flashing your lights, then blasting your horn, Did you really think signaling for him to get over would work? He was in his own little La La world ... Best to leave him in it. On the other hand had a woman pass me coupla years ago, (guess i didnt pass fast enough for her passenger boyfriend) I was in the right lane and he put his middle and index finger together and was shooting imaginary bullets at me. I turned too my wife and remarked ' Do you think he would be doing that if he knew I what was in my glove box' (loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm)... It pays to be prepared. Just in case things turn ugly.
  13. You didn't by any chance install a wolo air horn did you? (the main ground for battery would be under the stud for the horn)
  14. Lower RPM's, more torque, and, I certainly agree less emmission controls play a big part. Case in point: I bought a 6 vylinder 2002 Pontiac Firebird to commute 25,000 mi. annually. The salesman showed me that the V8 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM got better gas milage "due to lower RPM's and higher Torque" ... I told him it still doesn't justify the $+10,000 price difference. Although... it would have looked Cooler and had a higher resale...
  15. just buy a $12 multi meter at Wallmart . Set dial on 50 DCV. If should read at least +12 volts. If its 10 you probably have a charging problem. You can also use the multimeter to check the stator (where the wires come up and connect to the wiring harness) as the resistance must be in a certain range.. Don't remember off hand what the range is...
  16. bad ground? clean and put an anit oxidant on it. Reason I'm leaning that way is if you jump it it starts.(if it were a bad switch it wouldnt) did you check voltage at battery when it didnt start?
  17. One of the best pieces of advice I heard while traveling is to put a cover over the complete bike.... Outta site outta mind... Glade you and the bike are ok!
  18. You can do it Tom. I smoked from 13 to 24 yrs. old and was up to pack a day. Cutting back only made me go from cools to Camels and Raleighs (unfiltered) It's all a head game. Until you make up your mind it won't happen. After quitting countless times a manager of mine told me: "every time you get the urge to smoke " take a brisk walk. Seems it burns off the excess enegry, Plus your replacing a bad habit with a good one. Worked like a charm for me and I haven't touched one in +30 years!
  19. Good read. There are variables to be considered, that will have a huge impact, on how you feel about a longe distance rides. Had a nephew that rode to California on a Harley Sportster 10 or so years ago. He doesn't ride much now. Rode to Cape Canavrial, 1000 mi, in 500 mile legs on a V-star 650 (without a windshield) and it just about killed me. Was stopping every 100 mi. to fuel up and recover. The very next year went back to the Cape with a Memphis Shades windshield in 500 mi. legs and it was no biggie... The next year, went ot Eugune, OR "on the same bike" with the longest leg being a little over 700 mi. and my butt was so sore(tailbones) that I bought an Air Hawk for the return trip home. I bought the 2007 midnight Venture and can truthfully say riding out the 200 mi tank full of gas at the speed limit, and, riding 600 mi. a day is very enjoyable. In fact I feel spoiled with all the amenities the Venture has. Thinking some of it depends on past experiences? looking forward to doing a trip through the Grand Canyon, then onto the mountains of Colorado late spring early summer next year. Guess it's on my Bucket list...LOL
  20. Thinking I would buy a snow blower if I were you...LOL
  21. Looks good. Yes... I think that will do it. Time will tell. Redneck, Apology accepted and no Mommy wont know LOL. The agregis posts were removed, as they should have , and the main points of the thread remains intact. I'm happy.
  22. Wonder what the life expectancy on something like that would be?
  23. "I can personally assure you if it gets to far over the edge, a moderator will discuss it with the offender. And what is the interpretation of 'well documented', could this be interpreted to go so far as to have a popup window when the reply button is clicked on to say, "Don't speak harsh words to your fellow bikers" My thought is we are all adults here, sometimes some of us poke fun at others, and the playfullness of this ribbing may not be apparent to others if they don't know the history of those involved. This site is kept far more civil than other sites. I would be content to keep the majority happy rather than keeping the one or two happy that may have read something into any given post and took offense to that." the "well documented" part would go something like this: To maintain civility, this site does not permit personal disparageing, name calling or abusive remarks ment to inflame our members. Any infringments will resiult in your post being deleted and your getting locked out of the thread in qusestion. You will be sent a pm informing you of the action and warned not to start another post on the same topic. Mutiple infringements could result in a cancellation of your membership or guest status. I don't know of anyone that could "read something into" a post that calls a fellow member a "Moron". And no, this isn't the first time the've done it.
  24. Prayers and speedy recovery. and, hopefully he can still make the Leaky run...
