    Found it

    What road is that, Jeff
  2. I test rode a Vision about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised. Pulls like a freight train and very comfortable. The electric windshield was also very cool and a surprisingly functional feature. One major complaint was that althought the trunk was huge, the saddlebags are very small. Balance of the bike was tremendous. It feals lighter to stand up than my roadstar. Other than the saddlebags I would highly recommend it.
  3. With all this talk about greasing and sticking of shafts and bag waxing I'm beginning to wonder about those guys.
  4. You need to contact your insurance carrier to notify them of the accident. They will ask who else involved and if police investigated. You will give them the lady's info and they should follow up with her insurance.
  5. the battery terminals/cables were the only thing I didn't touch. couldn't get to them. besides, I had just had them off and tightened appropriately a few weeks and very few miles ago. It seemed that when I hit the starter the battery went off. I lost my trip meter and clock reset just like I had disconnected the battery. Very strange.
  6. I had a strange occurrence today that I thought was going to leave me stranded. I came up on a mobile construction stop light that I knew was very long so I turned off the bike to keep the heat down. It was close to 90 degrees out. I had just done this on the other direction and had made a ccouple other stops with no problems. When I thought the light was about to change I hit the starter and everything went out. I lost the instrument cluster and the starter wouldn't engage. The odd thing is that the power outlets that are wired direct to battery also went out. I pulled off to the side and tried wiggling wires etc. I also pulled the line fuze for the outlets. After several attempts and 10 minutes it came back to life and has been fine since. I'm afraid of this happening again. Any thoughts?
  7. It's not just the imports that don't get the wave. Last weekend we flew out to Vegas and rented an Electraglide. Still got snubbed by other harley riders. Lots of friendly waves from everyone else though. Although I was irritated by the too cool harley riders I was pleasantly surpeised how much I liked the bike.
  8. I agree. I went back to a v-twin with my 03 roady because nothing feels or sounds like one. The roadstar is as good a cruiser as you can get and I have put many miles on mine, but you have to understand that it isn't a road sofa. It does have a little vibration, but nothing excessive and the ride is a little harsher than a full touring bike. As you can see from my pic, I added a fairing and have since added a mustang seat with backrest. As was also said, its not as fast, but has gobs of tourque. As long as you're over 45, you can put it in high gear and forget it. If you want the v-twin rumble, there's nothing better. I think mine puts the sound of harleys to shame. Just ask Skid and Yammer how they like riding behind me in tunnels.
  9. As some of you may remember, the wife and I took a trip to Niagara Falls last memorial day weekend for our anniversary. Had a great time and met some really nice people. This year is our tenth and I promised her a long time ago that I'd take her to Las Vegas. My treat in this trip is that we're renting a bike instead of a car to go and see the local sights. I just booked a Victory Vision. I rode one a while back for just a few minutes and am looking forward to putting some real miles on one. We want to ride out to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Any suggestions on the area are greatly appreciated.
  10. I'm thinking about bringing the family in the suburban. I can always hook up the big box trailer for when (not if) we have to reassemble your bike on the side of the road. (again)

    Beware!!

At how many people, usually ederly, will bring in letters for me to look at saying they won a contest and want to know if its real. It usually only takes me asking them if they entered the contest to make them realize the scam but some have gotten mad at me because they really thought they had won something. I worry even more about the ones who don't ask.
  12. I thought you were a friend. Long live the black and gold!
  13. We just back to WV yesterday after a 12 day trip to FL and a cruise to the Bahamas. Sure was a shock to see 9 degrees after snorkeling on a carribean island a couple days before. Talk about a shock to the system. I had to keep telling myself that I couldn't get the bike out when I got home because it doesn't go real well in the snow.
  14. I'm heading out to the golf course shortly here in St. Augustine. I can only gloat for a little while because I head back to the great white north tomorrow.
  15. I don't think they became fuel injected until '07 or '08. I have the 1600 and it is a beast. I think the only difference is that they bored it out a little. It's the same frame and nearly all the other parts are interchangeable with the 1600 so there are lots of aftermarket goodies. If you need the V-Twin rumble then you can't beat it, no matter what all the fogies here say. I couldn't see the exhaust, but if it's aftermarket you can bet it's LOUD. For more info on buying tips and concerns go to the road star clinic http://roadstarclinic.com/
  16. its amazing how many elderly individuals have come into my office wanting me to help them collect the money on something like that. they get upset when I tell them that its a fraud. I always have to point out that they have to enter a contest before they can win it.
  17. There really isn't any bad place to ride. The straightest roads in the state scare the jeebies out of the flatlanders so your really can't go wrong. A word of caution is that you can't always trust your GPS. Both of mine constantly try to take me on backroads that don't exist, so look further than the next turn on the things. Hit me with a PM if you're going to be in the center of the state and I can give you some other ride suggestions.
  18. The vibration doesn't feel like a wobble or loose steering. It feels and sounds like a whirring or fine grinding. That's what makes me think bearing, but I'm not sure how to confirm.
  19. I put it up on the jack and spun the wheel. Only sound was from the pads gently rubbing the discs. I don't have any problem with the tracking. Yammer, I didn't see your post until just now or I would have taken you up on the offer. The bike has a new home in the basement of my new office building. Working on setting it up as a small but proper shop. let me know when you're available and we can take a look at it. Next question, is this something that I should stay off the bike until solved. hoped to ride tomorrow.
  20. I checked the tire and it seems fine. I'm going to jack it up later and check the bearings. I guess the fix will probably be to replace the bearings. Anything else I need to look for.
  21. frankd's post has got me a little spooked about this so I'm going to run it up the flag pole for ideas. My 03 roadstar has developed a front end vibration that feels almost like a grinding. It's only there when the bike is straight up and moving around 30 mph. If I lean at all, the vibration goes away. I recently put on new Pirelli tires, about 300 miles before the vibration started. In looking at the tire I don't see anything obvious that would cause it. I checked all the calipers and the axle when I changed the tire. I'm concerned that something is going bad in the wheel. It seems like it's getting worse, but I may just be looking for it. Any ideas?
  22. According to Skid and Yammer I've already got something like that on my bike. I've got the Vance and Hines Tailgate Preventers.
  23. I just bought my wife the LG front load washer and dryer set about a week and a half ago. It was my penance for getting to go to the Asheville rally. Sears was running a crazy sale on them and I got them both delivered with a stacking kit for about 1250 including tax. They seem to work great. definitely worth looking at.
  24. What you've got there is an infestation of camper monkeys. Can't hardley get rid of them though cause their so darn cute. I have a 19-month old one that we have to pull down from the ceiling regularly.
