  1. How true!
  2. Drain your gas tank and try some new fuel from another gas station. (Drain from the Res. position) This time try only using about a gallon. If it still runs the same after a few miles at least you've eliminated one condition and you have another problem.
  3. Talk about having a bad day! One thing farmers can always rely on is their ingenuity and hard work.
  4. Well, were now up to about 4" of the white stuff. Power was out for about 3 hours and thankfully the power just came back on. I would post a picture, but it's just too depressing. Looks like winterland Com'on global warming!
  5. I live east of N.Bay and I've got an inch of that stuff already and it doesn't look like it's slowing down. Why now?
  6. After reading most of these posts and the hopes of a totally new and improved Venture, I myself would like other people to test the these waters first. Not to be too skeptical; but with new models and changes, they are usually followed with defects and recalls. I believe many of these defects are usually identified/discovered mostly by the trial of the consumer. I too would like to see what is on the horizon and I'm sure Yamaha could develop an awesome performing modern machine; but I will patiently lay back, stick with my 06 RSV until that day should happen and the dust settles.
  7. Wasn't the inner tube and cassette player invented around the same time?
  8. When I first saw this video, I realized how close a person is to living one second and gone in the next. Not to sound morbid, but this is reality at an almost any intersection, in every city. On the other hand, if everyone worried about these things; we would never ride. As always, I try to look out for the other driver, the best that I can.
  9. LOL...
  10. Why are there so many accidents? Check this video out from Springfield (where ever that is?) it will surprise you....but then again, maybe not. Scary stuff? http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1418565565?bctid=70368898001
  11. Yesssss...I noticed my new Avon tire that was installed on the back of my RSV has made it to 4-5k miles, before this one started to crack too. Much better than my first one which started cracking at 300 miles. Since the dealer that installed it is 8-9 hours away from where I live now and I'll never use another Avon tire, I think I will use it for a bumper on my dock. Dunlop E3's, lets give it a try! I can't afford to waste anymore money.
  12. [ Still can't get the front brakes to bleed right. Got the clutch & rear brake, but the fronts are not cooperating. I have new everything in there, rebuilt master, caliper and new lines. Same with the clutch & rear brake, they bled easy. I have tried a mighty vac, have speed bleeders, but nothing is working yet. I can draw fluid through, but no pressure. Gary Hi Gary, If you haven't already done this...try bleeding the master at the master cylinder itself, then work down to the calipers. If there is any air up top you'll never get pressure. I have other suggestions if that doesn't work. Cheers,
  13. This may have been posted before? My Motorcycle Has Taught Me: The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rear view mirror. People ask us why we ride a motorcycle. For those who have experienced the joy, no explanation is necessary... For those who have not, no explanation is possible. I'd rather be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle. Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul. Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle. Life may begin at 30, but it doesn't get real interesting until about 60 mph! You start the game of life with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience. The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck. If you wait, all that happens is that you get older. Midnight bugs taste just as bad as Noon time bugs. Saddlebags can never hold everything you want, but they CAN hold everything you need. Don't ride so late into the night that you sleep through the sunrise. Sometimes it takes a whole tank full of gas before you can think straight. Riding faster than everyone else only guarantees you'll ride alone. Never hesitate to ride past the last street light at the edge of town. Never do less than forty miles before breakfast. A bike on the road is worth two in the shed. Respect the person who has seen the dark side of motorcycling and lived, and still rides. Young riders pick a destination and go.. Old riders pick a direction and go. A good mechanic will let you watch without charging you for it. Sometimes the fastest way to get there is to stop for the night. Always back your bike into the curb and sit where you can see it. There are drunk riders and there are old riders, but there are not many old drunk riders. Ride to work. Work to ride. Whatever it is, it's better in the wind. Two-lane blacktop isn't a highway - it's an attitude. When you look down the road, it seems to never end - but you better believe it does! Winter is Nature's way of telling you to test the electrics. Keep your bike in good repair... Motorcycle boots are not all that comfortable for walking. People are like motorcycles: Each is customized a bit differently. Sometimes, the best communication happens when you're on separate bikes. When you're riding lead, don't spit. A friend is someone who'll get out of bed at 2 a.m. to drive his pickup to the middle of nowhere to get you when you're broken down. Catching a yellow jacket in your shirt at 70 mph can double your vocabulary. There's something ugly about a NEW bike on a trailer Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't. If you can't get it going with bungee cords and duct tape, it's serious. If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there may not be one. The best modifications cannot be seen from the outside. Always replace the cheapest parts first. You can forget what you do for a living when your knees are in the breeze. Only a Biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window. Keep the paint up, and the rubber down! There are two types of people in this world, people who ride motorcycles and people who wish they could ride one.
  14. Now that is a cool set up. I'm very impressed! Looks like it is going to be very comfortable and be able to handle with ease. BTW... nice trailer too, where did you pick that up? I'm looking for one of those.
  15. The white stuff is gone, the salt on the road is nowhere to be seen and it's about 80F. I took the Venture out for a 2 hour ride, saw lots of bikes and the highway traffic was minimal. It was so nice, the Harley riders were even waving! I was traveling on my way back home along a dirt road, when a woman quickly backed straight out of her driveway without looking. Since I was on gravel and driving slower than normal, I managed to stop about 2' from her side door. The look on her face was both of shock and horror. She said she was sorry and pulled back into her drive way again. Why don't people think when they get behind the wheel of a car? If I was driving a full size truck she would be dead and her 3 passengers hurt. I'm just glad it was a dirt road, didn't hit her and I didn't drop it. Here we go again... looking out for those people who aren't looking.
  16. Ok...so what is the real issue? Since I no less than everyone else about tire mfg; is it poor quality control, made in China, poor pours, material and design cannot handle the environment, poor molding, wrong temp pour, inexperienced/unhappy workers, poorly engineered molds, etc.... Warrantee seems not to be an issue with the company as they seem to willingly offer replacement. Maybe they should be offering Dunlops? If I had known what I know now, maybe I should have insisted?
  17. The site never missed a beat!
  18. He look lika one of dem univercity pruffessor smart feller's
  19. Too bad there are no software updates for peoples brains and memory loss. Sometimes it feels like I could sure use one or two upgrades. Maybe even a defragment and reboot would do?
  20. Looks like it must have hit warp speed, got into a high speed wobble and then just gave up?
  21. My 93 G.W was ok. It wasn't as comfortable as my 06 Venture. It was low maintenance, I found it easy to work on, but the stock seat and leg position wasn't good for me on long trips. Best part was I rode it for a year and then sold it for 2K more than I bought it for.
  22. First of all you won't find the perfect bike, they all seem to have their own inherent quirks and flaws. I've owned a 1000 Concours, 1200 GW, 1500 GW, and a Valkyrie; but this is one of the most comfortable bikes I have ridden on, it's a great touring bike. I have ridden a BMW K1200LT for quite a few miles; it would be close to or equal the ride in comfort. IMO But again, it does come with many pro's and does have a few cons.
  23. I hurt as well. Breathed in more brake and clutch dust than I care to remember. Why didn't I choose to be an electrician? One pouch of tools, electricity has never changed over the years, just the components and my electrician buddies I know are paid very well, plus their side jobs on top of that.
