    OOPS

    Oops!
  2. Myself, as of late, have been using Rick at Buckeye Performance parts for all of my orders. We get a pretty healthy discount as Ventureriders...
  3. **Note to self... Never eat dinner and read posts at the same time! **
  4. Radical!!!!!
  5. Holy cow, looks like Phil is going to be our resident photographer!! Can't wait to get my copy!
  6. OOPS!!!!!
  7. I couldn't agree more, but sometimes it seems difficult getting people together. I have all but volunteered free gas just to get people to come to my fall folage ride. I haqve tried for the last 2 years to get something off the ground with little success. That being said, our place is always open to Ventureriders, and for that matter, Venturers as well. This August when I am recovering from foot surgery I am very hopeful members will stop by and help me pas the time away...
  8. Wow!! Due to retirement, and a remote starter, the wife has relinquished the garage to me! Goldie will not have to sleep in the shed, and I won't have to almost kill myself getting it out in the spring...
  9. I WILL agree with you on the Honda engines!!
  10. Wow, you replaced a Tecumseh with a Briggs and Stratton??? Just remember Briggs & Stratton is B.S...
  11. Just got done replacing my front tire along with installing new bearings and seals. Walk in the park as long as your axle hasn't rusted solid onto the center spacer. Had to beat the crap out of my rear axle to get it out but the front one came out relatively painlessly...
  12. I asked about this about a month or so ago and one member was going to send me a set of bases but I never saw them. I had the same idea. They need to be tapped for 10mm, and I am wondering what size the existing hole or the upper section is...
  13. No, wise Mr. Owl, I live just about as far as you can get from the Big Apple. I live near Buffalo, which is about the most economically depressed area in New York State. NYC is around $4.50 a gallon from what I understand...
  14. Progressive is the modrn day version of Allstate of the '60s and '70's where no reputible collision shop wanted to handle any claims thru them. Let me tell you the story of my wife's last accident. A local yahoo made a left hand turn right in front of her nowhere near an intersection. At the time the guy admitted fault and notified his insurance company, Progressive. A police report was filed, but a day or two later an adsjuster came out and "investigated" the accident scene. He called us and said we had a problem because there was skid marks at the scene, supposedly made by my wife. When I got the phone message (he didn't talk directly to either of us) I immediately went up and looked. Sure enough, there was some skid marks made by a tandem wheel, with a width and tread pattern nowhere near my wife's. So, the obvious conclusion was, either it was such a horrendous crash that made my wife's car to be approximately 16 inches wide, or the adjuster was on drugs. Also, these skid marks (probably made by a rear brake seizing up on a trailer) were around 200 feet long. Now, I am not necessarily a rocket scientist, but perhaps you can explain how a car going approximately 30 mph, the legal speed limit there, with ABS could leave such long skid marks and not deploy the air bags??? Our insurance company ended up sueing them for complete damages. Our agent got a good laugh out of the story and said not to worry, as we were not charged with the accident. Never saw an increase in premiums or anything... Now, what I am wondering, if Floyd got rear ended, why is HIS insurance company paying, and why should HE wory about the deductible???? The guy who hit him is at fault no matter what state, and is completely liable for all damage and medical bills. Oh my back, oh my neck, oh my lawyer...
  15. Wow, that cheap!! Try $4.09 average in this area...
  16. ...and I have nothing nice to say about Progressive!!!
  17. Yah, I have one of those oversized screens, not sure which make, but I really like mine, and so does the copilot! I call it my "barn door" shield...
  18. Sorry, Wayne, but the rotors on the '85 are all cracked. New EBC's from Buckeye are around $150 or so apiece, lots cheaper than Yamaha rotors. Just keep watching ebay as they do show up fairly often...
  19. Praise The Lord!!!!
  20. Thanks for this thread as I was considering the 404's for the '85 to save money, but it appears as if it's penny wise, dollar foolish!!!
  21. If he had to keep the RPM's up to keep from stalling at idle, that would make for difficult turning... Errrrr, not that I would know anything about that!
  22. Yah, seems to be working so far... It only locked up on me once so far trying to read a post.
  23. BTW the braking system on the early 1st gens leaves a lot to be desired. You are going the right route to install SS lines. Rick at Buckeye Performance sells complete sets for all the lines for brake and clutch for a prety good price. He gives Venturerider members a nice discount.
  24. Hey Niagara, I see you live in my old home town!! I live in Arcade now and have lots of spare parts for 1st gen so if you ever need anything give a shout! We should go riding some time, but definately not this week until it warms up a tad...
  25. No thanks, Don, I've seen pictures of the Pond Monster that comes ith that pond...
