  1. All the ones I rebuilt I found the kits on Fleabay. After a while I finally reached the conclusion that for the cost of the rebuild kit and the labor involved with honing, etc. it makes sense to just buy a new slave and be done with it...
  2. Ditto to what Randy said! Not sure about the rest of you Vietnam Veterans, but I'm finally after all these years not feeling ashamed of my service there...
  3. Only you could do something like that Lewis!! I'm thinking you have Eck beat for washing his cell phone! Seriously, glad you didn't break any bones or your neck! Heal fast, shame about wasting the Chicken Soup...
  4. Very interesting! Almost a shame I have the chrome ones, the black ones in diamond cut would go perfect...
  5. Awww, man, not another one!!! Glad you are OK, what hapopened?? In a way the picture is amusing with the "Injured?" billboard in the background...
  6. The unofficial motto of Ventureriders is "WE ARE AN EATING CLUB WITH A RIDING DISORDER!" Can't remember if it was the Sturgis episode or the one where Frank went to Sturgis and all I saw in the background shot was a front view of a maroon 1st gen for approximately 1.3 seconds so couldn't tell you if it was tweekers or not as I don't think you could see the side panels. I still have my low mileage '84 Goldie that is now my retirement project. It had an electrical fire in '09 and I've been doing a slow restoration on it ever since only working on it in the winter months. Bought "Sexi 2 Timer" new in '09 and triked it a couple of years ago due to health issues. We still ride cross country but Biker Becky isn't a fan of camping so we generally stay in hotels or occasionally at members houses overnight. You definately want to do Maintenance Day in Oberlin Ohio at Freebird's place in June, Don has a huge yard and a pond and many members camp there! You will also enjoy the International Rally this year in Indiana which is a week long event. If you care to "Venture" to Western New York state about 40 miles SE of Buffalo Big Tom puts on an annual regional rally at Pioneer Motorsports and camping is allowed at Pioneer, that is in August. You are going to eventually find out that we are a friendly bunch here albeit a little crazy as well. We are more than an organization, we are Family here!! Welcome to the family!
  7. Ya know, I was watching an episode of American Pickers the other nite and saw in the background at Sturgis Bike week a maroon 1st gen! Wonder if it was yours?!!? Welcome aboard, yes you will fit right in here!!!
  8. So, ahhh, my 6 year old Sony is a fluke???
  9. Wow!! I knew about some of these but there's a lot on that list I didn't know about!! Man, I'm gonna gain 5 pounds in the next two days...
  10. Hey! We don't hijack threads, we just "expand" on them...
  11. Only 11?!!? Man, that is one together young lady!
  12. Ouch Kenny, OUCH!!! Those cigarettes are gonna kill you someday one way or an other!! Glad you're OK, you probably broke a rib or two. Been there, done that, no fun...

  14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bobbie!!! Who's gonna take pictures of your party??
  15. Greetings faithful followers of AS THE WHEELS TURN, sorry for the delay but I have a touch of the flu and wasn't up to writing yesterday but am feeling better today. Enough of this drivel (or is it dribble?) and on with the never ending story... As we left Bongo and the Boys, Bongo was just about to read the list of ingredients when suddenly the lights went out! It seems that the high winds from Super Storm Sandy had done some damage to the power lines and the club was without power. Almost immediately the backup generator kicked in but power was only for the essential rooms and not the office Bongo was in. Stumbling to the door he went into the reserved banquet room to join the Ventureriders who were all in costume and having the time of their lives! The food was abundent and tasty, and the booze was flowing like the dam had just burst! By now members from both Canada and the US were in attendance and numbering in the hundreds! The manager was convinced that the syndicate would pick up the tab so he was very happy to give everything to anybody!! Bongo decided to get down to business. He got everyones attention and brought the first ordr of business for discussion. We need to discuss just what we plan to do at Freebird's Maintenance Day next year, now here's the plan... Just what is the plan?? Will they run out of food and drink? Will the storm pass? When will the power be restored" Who are these strange people in the pictures? Stay tuned for possible answers and further questions on AS THE WHEELS TURN!
