Dave, You shouldn't have any troubles from what I can see, as long as the aux tank is vented so you dont create a vacuum in it. The fuel sensor unit is not needed to run the bike. Are you thinking about doing a color tune and want the tank off to see it better?

I used, or I should say, a buyer that bought a 250 enduro from me used this company. I have to say I was very impressed with this outfit. The truck was a beauty as well as the trailer. It was set up to haul bikes and it was strapped down well. I would have no reservation in using them myself. I have also done the Uship to get my Harley from Detroit down to Houston. That, as mentioned, is a crap shoot. Make sure they are bonded and insured and have good feedback with hauling bikes. Not every Joe Shmuck knows how to strap a bike down....

Please help with Corbin seat question to all of my VR family
Squidley replied to Barrycuda's topic in Watering Hole
Barry, From what I have seen of the bikes I know of with Corbins on them it looks close, but the rear portion does seem a bit short to me. I know Freebird has a Corbin on his, you might want to PM him and pick his brain a bit....0.02 -

Y'all crack me up I have NEVER sold a 1st gen DRIVER on a 2nd gen, I sat their significant other on the back of a G2 and they were the ones that told the 1st gen DRIVER to get a G2 because they were more comfortable for them. If you aren't worried about riding and have time to tinker, a 1st gen is a great machine to play with. I have owned 6 1st gens and 4 2nd gens, Lonna wont ride on the 1st gen anymore because it's not as comfortable for her as the G2's I agree with Capt. if I wanted to go fast and kill myself a Busa or Vmax would be what I owned. Y'all have to hold onto something, so I'll just sit back and keep laughing at all the banter

Buckeye HO upgraded stator
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the input fellas, I am actually going to try the "HO" stator from Ricks Motorsports in NH. I haven't tried it yet and it doesn't sound like many here have either. It would be nice for me to add some real world experience with it. I am going with a complete "system" new HO stator and their matching Regulator/Rectifier. I should have it installed in a couple of weeks and I'll let y'all know what my initial thoughts are once I get a few hundred miles on it -
Clearing out 1st gen parts
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thats no lie there Bob, I acquired a BUNCH of stuff from oldschool when he wanted me to get his garage cleared out. I had stuff before that, it's time to get some space back and put that cash towards another G2 -
I know this isn't the perfect forum for this, but it will work. I have a garage FULL of 1st gen parts, and I need to thin it out drastically. I will be posting pics in the classifieds, but wanted to give a heads up to the 1st gen folks. Here are a few of the body parts I have... Left side upper fairing, fair condition Couple of front fenders, fair to good condition 2 sets of MKI saddlebags, 1 with key for locks, 1 without key, Good shape Trunk for '85 and base, Fair condition 3 seats, 2 in fair shape, 1 in not so good 2 faux tank covers 1 pair of engine side panels, fair to good condition 5 factory stereos all work, including the cassette players, fair to good condition 1 CLASS pump compressor assembly, works well I could go on, but you get the drift. If anyone is looking for oddball parts, I have a got of inner plastic parts, fenderwells and such. If your looking for something shoot me a PM, or if you want to buy the lot of misc parts, we can do that too.

Hanging fuel cell for Garage ceiling
Squidley replied to deepforkriver's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Funny this thread came up, I am working on the same idea as I have a Suzuki Intruder that I need to sync the cabs on and the tank is right in the way. I'm not sure what exactly the bottle is from, but it will hold a decent amount of gas. I wanted to be able to shut it off for disconnecting it and the 1/4" ball valve was really all I could come up with at the moment. I installed a hard rim air schrader valve up top for venting it (I'll remove the schrader once the bottle is hanging) and have it installed while filling it with fuel. I want to find one of the roll around IV hangers, like are used in hospitals to hang it from and have it be movable easy. I have yet tried it, but thats going to happen real soon. -
Keep us updated on how they work out for you Ron

Frank, When most of us mention about re-greasing the bearings, we say that with this in mind. The bearings dont come greased very well from the factory, and I have had a couple of axles that the bearings weren't adjusted correctly. So I just usually start right from scratch, and clean all the old grease out. It doesn't make a difference if they are 8" or 12" wheels, I just like having the piece of mind knowing that it is done correctly with good quality grease. The bearing buddies go on in place of the bearing caps. They are spring loaded and keep plenty of grease into the bearings and races so you dont have issues. They make the greasing very easy as I mentioned in the top of this thread of how I grease them. I have a set of the trailer I use to haul bikes around and usually about once every 6 months, or before I plan on going on a long trip, I have a grease gun thats filled with the wheel bearing grease I use (Kendall Super Blu) and add some grease to it. Grease breaks down over time and this keeps it topped off good. The bearing buddies were originally made for boat trailers as when folks would pull their boats to the lake the hubs would get warm. When they would back the trailer into the water, it would immediately cool the hubs causing contraction of the grease. This would allow water to get sucked into a standard hub cover and break down the grease inside. If you have any other questions, my # is in my profile.
