  1. Rob, If you can scan the pages, or find them online and post them up here, it would help aleviate confusion. The upper fairing covers are hard to come by, you'll pay big for them in good shape. I have a couple of the factory stereo inserts for the top left side fairing cover. I also believe that I have the clutch cover your needing. The black insert you talk about, is this the louvered vent, the rubber cushion, or the 1/4 moon piece that goes between the steering head and the side of the panel? If we can narrow down what you need with some pics or diagrams we can get you pointed in the right direction
  2. Nice job on the install
  3. Hey Tommy, I seem to remember a couple of months back, you declared that it wasn't going to snow up there....how's that working out for you now that ticked off Mother Nature with such Blasphemy BTW 65 degrees here just North of Houston
  4. Gary, Round switches are still readily available, you can get them in lighted models as well. Are you running the fog lights through a relay? I know you probably know this already, if not it would be a great idea to do that as you will get more power to the lights and less strain on the switch. I'm not sure if the Kuryakyn switch box will fit on the 1st gen handle bar master cylinders. I can't think that they wouldn't as the majority of handle bar M/C are shaped pretty much the same. If you want, ride up here to Cleveland one weekend and we'll brainstorm and come up with a good plan....
  5. Make sure you get a "Ratchet" strap and not the ones you pull to tighten. A 1000 lb working strength and shorter (6') will work great. I dont have specifics on brand, but just look at the strap, there are thin and thick straps, thicker is better. If you can find ones with the safety latch that goes across the hook, thats a plus. I forgot where I bought the last 4 hi vis orange ones I bought, but they work well and I dont think twice about them. I have probably 20 straps in a leather back pack, so I'm like a Boyscout "Be prepared"
  6. The 22LR are going to be scarce for a long, long time. Guys are converting the AR15 to shoot them as that ammo was one of the 1st to get hoarded. When a certain government official talks, he is great for stimulating atleast 1 part of the economy
  7. Outstanding news Roy!! Let that boy know we are all pulling for him
  8. 1st 2 things I always put on is a backrest and highway pegs, those 2 items alone will make or break a long road trip....
  9. I would buy another one, but never a new one again. If I was going to spend the money they want now for a new one, I would seriously look for something else. There are things I dont like about the RSV, the charging system being the biggest thing. Comfort wise it is the best bike I have been on for long trips, but not for close to $20K now ....I know y'all didn't expect that answer out of me did you
  10. When you talk 1st gen here on the forum, the majority of us are thinking and talking 1983 to 1993 Ventures. Now your talking 1st generation royal stars (started in 1996), the 1st gen Royal Star has 28mm carbs. The 2nd generation Venture started in 1999 to present, has the 32mm carbs. I know it can get a bit frustrating but folks are trying to help here, so please keep this in mind.
  11. The G2 Venture and the early royal stars are not the exact same engine. Different carbs, cams and the early ones were detuned. If I'm not mistaken the carbs on the royal stars are 32mm and the Venture is 34mm. I know there are some others that will chime in, but the G2 Venture mentions 98hp at the crank, which transmits to mid 70's at the rear wheel.
  12. Nice Trady Toby!
  13. Roy, Were still pulling for your son and your family, keep the faith my friend. We can never hope to understand the wisdom of our God....all the best to you all.
  14. Happy Birthday!!!
  15. If you get the opportunity to ride one, do so. They have a different power curve as they like the RPM's. They are a bullet proof platform for the most part, 200K on one is not a stretch. The feet fwd ride is very comfortable, they are a bit top heavy, but are easily gotten used to with a bit of saddle time. As Gary mentioned the RSV has not changed pretty much at all from '99 to present. They are a great machine and extremely comfortable for the long hauls. I personally have done some 800 mile days on them.
  16. I didn't pull the shaft apart, the owner brought it to me to help diagnose it. He and another friend pulled it apart and replaced it. I'm not sure if he was able to find it new or had to get a used one. If you do need one, I know there are several here on the site with parts motors and bikes so it really shouldn't be an issue to find one.
  17. I went and checked the site out, they actually have some pretty good prices. Cheaper than where I normally buy from, not by much, but still cheaper, and they are here in Texas
  18. Jim Belushi: Holy ---- Clown Attack! John Ritter: Clown Attack?? Jim Belushi: Yeah, the CIA took some of it's best agents and dressed them up in clown suits to not attract attention to themselves, now they went bad. John Ritter: Bad Clowns!!?? Real Men is the movie 1985
  19. Yes you can, your brakes will still be linked. But the ends will be twisted a bit as the banjo mounting hole in the caliper is angled differently. I just went ahead and delinked when I did the mod.
  20. If they feel equal to, or worse than the stock ones you took off, something isn't right. Perhaps you didn't get all the air out, speedbleeders are a great gadget, but I have found them to be somewhat of a bear with trying to do an entire swap out. I always go old school and do the pump up and crack the bleeder. I have done several brake jobs that took a while to get all the air out. One thing I found was not all banjo bolts are created equal. I swapped my '86 over to R1's and delinked the brakes. I used parts from several different bikes to do this, here's my write up... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65356&highlight=Banjo+Bolt
