  1. We'll be glad to have you here, there's room at the house here so get after it and make it over! Bring your daughter too, she'll have a good time laughing at the old farts
  2. Happy Anniversary to you both! I imagine after the enamor wore off, she just felt sorry for you
  3. Your welcome Annie, we both are very happy to be able to have done this for y'all. I am going to hook it behind my truck and pull it around town on errands to break everything in (wise ass remarks to come I'm sure) and give it a good shakedown so there are no surprises. I'll then recheck the wheel bearings and add some more grease into the hubs. I'm looking forward to seeing it again when you and Alan come to Texas, and see some of the other emblems and stickers that end up on it
  4. Listen here troublemaker, some of us sleep in on Sunday mornings Annie, we will make that happen. We actually talked about having a bon fire while y'all were here, so we will have a M&E and then we can head to either Gunboats or our place and burn some stuff....we'll make it happen
  5. Not for a long, LONG time. I need a break, too much going on right now. get this '86 back together, finish the '83 and sell it, finish parting out the '99 and then get after the house and leveling it. If I retired tomorrow I wouldn't be able to stop work for the next 5 years atleast! I digress though, just wanted to com back on and say that all I have to do with the trailer is glue the carpet back in. Lid chains are installed and I rewired the entire trailer with all working well. I am VERY happy with how the trailer turned out, I hope that you and Alan are happy with it too Annie
  6. Nice job Kevin, but I expect nothing less out of you my friend. James, I can tell you that machine you have has been well taken care of. Kevin is very good about keeping them in top condition...good on y'all
  7. Getting down to the short strokes on this trailer. Gunboat has been here all day helping me along with the final assembly of it, and it is looking good! About 90% done, wire the lights, lid chains, and glue the carpet back in is just about all thats left. I have taken a few more pics, and Annie, there will be no mistaking to anyone here in the United States of where you and Alan are from
  8. That is an awesome story, but I expect nothing less from Ray. I remember him well and I am most certain that he will make another appearance at a MD in the future. Ray, all the best to you my friend, I'd tell you good luck with the healing, but somehow I feel that those are unnecessary words. Something tells me your gonna be fine...God HAS blessed you, so no need for me to repeat that either. Looking forward to seeing you again at some point
  9. Shameless Bump
  10. It's good to see you posting David, although the circumstances aren't the best. We'll talk with the great one and hope that you can find the relief you need and get your life back to where you want it. I echo what Brad T mentioned...all the best to you.
  11. Happy Belated Birthday Walter!!!
  12. Bumping this back up top....
  13. Annie, 3" wide by 6" long will work great, or 76mm X 152mm
  14. Eck's suggestion is a good one, but I would absolutely have a carb sync done on the bike. Many times when the idle wont come down well the sync isn't right. Do a sync and see what happens.
  15. I will take the measurements tomorrow and get them to you
  16. I think we can accommodate that Annie, how big is the southern cross sticker?
  17. Thanks Kevin, I appreciate you jumping in and helping out
  18. I couldn't help but play a bit, and mock the trailer up. So I took a couple pics so you can get an idea of what it will look like.
  19. Vince, I had some issues with the 1st Ricks stator I installed, it grounded out to my case and I sent it back to have the issue corrected. They also sent me the wrong R/R, but have gotten that strait now. I haven't had the time here lately to reinstall the new "HO" Ricks stator or Hot Shot as they call it. I am hopeful that it will go together smooth and not give me any issues. Mine is an '86, so it had the cooling set up on it from the factory, the '83 and some of the '84's I believe needed to have an upgrade from the factory as they didn't have it. I am going to ever so slightly drill the oil hole out just slightly bigger to get more oil to pass over the stator and hopefully keep it cooler. I might also try a bit lighter weight oil to hopefully dissipate some of the heat as that is what kills the stators. As soon as I can give a real world opinion I'll get back here and do so.
  20. Another update, today I finally got the body and lid in color. I am pretty pleased with how it came out, not like a new car, but you can count your individual teeth in it. I'll be starting to assemble it this week and will give y'all some more shots of it.
  21. Bump this back up to the top, I will be keeping this up top as much as I can, and thanks to the folks that have already started the bidding
  22. Jim, Here is Mikes paypal address michaelk501@juno.com Thank You.
  23. Folks, Some of you have read Freebirds thread about Mike Knoffler (Snaggletooth) and the hardships he's going through right now. Mike is a long time member here, and even though he and I haven't been able to meet face to face, I talk with Mike often and consider him a friend. He's always been there to help many members out whether it's with an issue on their bike, or just a lending ear. I have donated 3 1st gen items that I put up in the classifieds in the auction section. All the proceeds will go directly to Mike, I will ship them at my cost in the continental US, and will discount shipping to Canada should a Canadian member want to purchase one or all of the items. Here are links to the auctions... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4607&title=1st-gen-mki-chrome-lighted-rotor-covers&cat=20 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4606&title=1st-gen-chrome-front-fender-helmet&cat=20 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4605&title=1st-gen-mki-backrest&cat=20 If any of y'all can help us out with this that would be great, do appreciate you looking at the auctions.
