    I know we have a lot of smart cookies here, and I need a question answered. I am currently working on an '86 for one of our members and need to know is there any difference between the 1200 and the 1300 cc bikes carburetors? I need the #2 carb as I can't get the Air/Fuel mixture screw out as hard as I have tried. So my question is can the 1200's carb be used on the 1300 engine

    Gas mileage is such a subjective question, you'll get many different answers, and yes the choke didn't help your at all. The bike will also run lousy after sitting for a while with Seafoam in it. I always, after it's been setting all winter, run the hell out of it and get the old gas and Seafoam out of the tank. That 1st tank will be lousy gas mileage. Lots of variables go into fuel economy, where you live, strong winds, rightwristitis....ect I get a consistant 38 mpg with my '08, I DONT baby my bikes as I like to play with them. Make sure the carbs are synced and ride it to have fun, thats why we bought them right

    Josh, The controls are very futuristic looking from the stand point of when the bike came out. It was ahead of it's time when it came out and was designed to go head to head with the Goldwing, which it did very well. Now 20+ years later the majority of the folks that own 1st gens are chasing some sort of issue. Understandable with any machine that is that old, just ask SWIFTY how many times he has had his '86 tore apart in his living room There will ALWAYS be debates when it comes to the 1st and 2nd gens. Some just dont like the G2, they say it looks like a Harley. 1st gens look like a Goldwing, always have, always will. It's all about what YOU are comfortable on, I can never go back to a 1st gen for touring as my G2 is WAY more comfortable for ME and my wife. I have had 3 of each gen and they were all fine bikes, but I got very tired of HAVING to fix issues on the 1st gens, thats why I changed over. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to me both bikes are beautiful. They have totally different styling and handle very differently, just like everyone on this website

    Kurt, The Left front is the linked brake to the rear petal. I have had the rear caliper hang up on one of my 1st gens. I would take a look at the rear brake reservior and see if it is clean. Many times, as Randy mentioned, the return oriface in the reservior will be clogged. If you have too much fluid in the rear reservior it can cause this as it will expand causing the caliper to compress. Check your fluid level in it and start from there.

Lutz, I did try that and it's just being a bear to get out, I haven't heated it as I didn't want to destroy all the gaskets and o rings inside.     Venture is over 8 ft wide and would be too wide for many places. You would probably get the eye from LEO's and rightfully so. Venture weighs 900 lbs. and class 5 hitches have a 500 lbs tounge weight, so it would be overloaded.

    I am in the middle of getting Dave Pankows bike ready to roll for the season. I have the carbs off and #2 air/fuel screw isn't coming out. I have tried everything and it's just not going to come. I dont need a whole bank of carbs, just #2 the others came out. What I need is if any of you 1st genners have even just the body of #2 carb that I can transfer all the other parts into. This is an '86 1300 and I can use all the help I can get, thanks for the time
