I went down yesterday after going through a construction zone with a lot of crushed stone. I'm ok but my leathers got some road rash as well as 1 boot. I was on a secondary paved hi way that they were replacing alot of culverts. In the section where they removed the asphalt they filled it in and then put 10-12" of loose crushed stone. I went across one section doing maybe 50km's (30mph) and felt the rear of the bike go a bit so I slowed down for the next one....next thing I knew I was slidng across the ground and the bike was heading for a ditch. It stopped before going over the bank. It went down on the left side and then it flipped to the right. Not a whole lot of damage other than cosmetic from what I can tell so far. My right lower cowling is trashed and the crash bar it self is bent. I had a set of the crash bar supports on and kinda think that saved me from getting more damage (it did break but I think it can be rewelded if its not bent). My handle bar ends didn't touch the ground or the mirrors either. So I'm kinda thinking slowing down wasn't such a good idea? I do have a rub mark on my fairing.....has anyone have one sanded and painted before? My thoughts on the crash bar supports......I think they saved me from having alot more damage...and my V/R gremlin bell of course! I didn't realize I went down on my left side at all because I saw no damage but was puzzled why my left boot and chaps were scuffed. It was only on the way home when we stopped to check the tie down straps on the trailer that my friend noticed the left front bar was worn down a nice bit. It was then I was able to put it all together.....it happened so fast I wasn't really sure what had happened. So I went down on the left and it flipped over to the right all in about 30 ft. To add some humor to it I called my sweetie and said " I just went down on my bike" she replied " did you do much damage to the bike!"....I immediately asked..."what about me" She just assumed I dropped it! So now its panic time......was planning to go on a 10 day trip the end of this month.....I hope Yamaha has the parts. If anyone has triked and have some rear crash bars available I may be interested. Be careful out there!! Keith

I added a couple of speaker baffles....seems to have helped with the bass.....considering you aren't gonna get much from that size of speaker anyway. Keith

Sorry can't help with the tech info but I am curious where you mounted the Battery Bug? I plan to install mine this weekend. Thanks Keith -
I sold my 1977 Honda 750k last night. I bought it new and haven't used it since 1991....did plan to rebuild it but just didn't have the interest. I saw an ad that a guy was looking for parts to rebuild one he already had so I hope he can make 1 good one of the two. Hard to see it go but only taking up room and gives me a few $$ for shiney stuff for the Venture! Keith

I just don't understand why, when our dollar is almost on par and even has been a tad above, that your prices are so different. I'm not sure if it applies to bikes or just accessories but the local dealer was telling me that Yamaha Canada has to purchase all accessories from Yamaha US....that's the reason for the huge difference in accessory pricing......fact or fiction.....I dunno! (most all of my accessories were ordered from the US) Keith

Bill Have a look at these.... http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=1 Keith

John Don't waste a whole lot of time if you want genuine Yamaha accessories for you RSV. They are starting to discontinue them and some are getting tough to find. I have had good success with South Seattle.....now Sports Plaza it seems...real good pricing. And of course check the classifieds for a few items made by out talented members!!! Ruffy I have a Battery Bug still in the package. Have you come up with a place to mount it ? I was thinking of putting it in the trunk ? Keith

My battery is getting close on 5 years old so I figure for what its worth I should replace it. I haven't checked the price of the one from Yamaha but its listed in the U.S. for $115 so that will be $200 in my part of the world. I work at a Honda dealership and our car batteries are Interstate and so are a lot of other Imports...they just label them for what ever make. So I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried using a Interstate M/C Battery? Any Comments ? Thanks Keith
