  1. I have often seen those pieces of rubber on the road and glad I wasn't around when it let loose. Keith
  2. Putting a mud flap on your front fender will help some. Keith
  3. I just came back from a 10 day trip using my Piggybacker for the first time.....was great! But I did notice that larger vehicles seem to creep awful close to the rear of the trailer....not sure they could see it? I always leave room in the front for possible escape if I have to. So have any of you creative folks come up with anything to make the rear more visible? I was thinking about a boat rail mount flag pole? Looking for ideas!!!! Thanks Keith
  4. You are going to have to track down that straight mounting bar. Keith
  5. Here is an interesting stand.....saw this on a H/D while on vacation Keith
  6. I had a loud shriek one time that was caused by water in the passenger plug....darn near broke my ear drums! Keith
  7. i just returned from a trip and stayed in a park in Prince Edward Island where a wasp had a nest built inside a crack on the seat part of the picnic table. He wasn't leaving so when he went inside I got out my trusty duct tape and sealed him inside. The tape was still there 2 days later.....I would hate to be the person that pulls it off!! Keith
  8. Sorry for not replying earlier....been on a 10 day ride....was good! No idea where the first set of rims were made prob China if I had to guess! The new style rims are aluminum. We just got back from a tour around the Atlantic prov and the trailer performed 100% with the new rims on there. I had that don't know its there feeling! I was having my doubts when I was having the rim issues but I would highly recommend the Piggybacker! Tom was a great guy to work with. He was on top of the problem I was having and made sure the replacement rims were shimmy free before he shipped them to me. Keith
  9. Well guys I finally got it sorted out! I received the new rims from Piggybacker on Thursday and just put them on and went for a ride. Now I have that "I don't know its there" feeling. Its a dream to pull no sway/bounce/or shimmy. A BIG THANK YOU you for all the tips and suggestions! Even got a call from Old Venture 8 trying to give me a helping hand. We are leaving on Monday for a 10 day trip to Nova Scotia - PEI and New Brunswick and sure glad I have the trailer to take....now the boss don't have to wear all her extra cloths!! Thanks Again Keith
  10. Well I'm back!! I received my replacement rims & tires from Piggybacker today.....man are they nice! I haven't taken the trailer for a run but I just had to show off the new rims.......I guess this is the style they are putting on all the new trailers. The are 6lbs lighter than the old style as well. Keith
  11. I have heard of placing a piece of wax paper over the ball ? I haven't tried it tho! Keith
  12. See Picture
  13. Left side under a black rubber cover Keith
  14. I'd say it was your fuel pump.......longer between starts the longer it will click. I think its is pressurizing the system Keith
  15. Have a look in the classifieds for the Butler seat mod for pic's and info. Keith www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1023&title=butt-butler-seat-mod&cat=7
  16. Tom from P/B is in the loop on this situation....great guy and doing everything he can to resolve the situation That's the reason I did the video just to show him exactly what I'm talking about. He is trying to nail down 3 good rims to send to me.....prob is getting 3 good rims that meet an automotive spec .....he is working with the guys where he is getting them balanced. Considering where I'm located he wants to check and confirm what he is sending me are usable. Stay tuned Keith
  17. Have a look at this....may cause a shimmy ? Keith [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXUaJJZyMMo]YouTube- July 28 2010 009.MPG[/ame]
  18. Came across these items on E Bay if anyone is in the need...I know what these cost new....don't ask! Keith Lower Right Wind Guard # 160461326156 Fairing # 160461329518 Links wouldn't work for me
  19. Just an update.... I'm working with Tom of P/B and he also mentioned wheels.....so I brought all 3 to work and had the guys check balance(I had them done last yr when I assembled the trailer at a tire shop) one was so bad that it needed 5oz of weight and not doable....it appears the rims are out of round and the tires can't seat properly. Haven't ruled out the tires but there is no way I'm putting those rims back on there after I saw the way 1 of them was bouncing. So I'm hoping that is whats causing the problem!! Stay Tuned Keith
  20. You can try this site that is dedicated to the Zumo Keith http://www.zumoforums.com
  21. I have checked the hitch and all is fine except for the looseness in the receiver itself (DiamondR hitch) which I believe is common with all style hitch's. Tom from P/B has contacted me and we are working through it. He has confirmed the the tongue length is the same for both style trailers. We are looking at the trailer tires to see if maybe one of them is out of round or just a bad tire? I'll keep ya informed as to the progress. Thanks for all the help!!!! Outstanding !!!!! Keith
  22. Changes I made.... Increased trailer tire pressure to 40psi.....as recommended by Manuf of trailer in Inst Removed spare from rear mounting position Set tongue weight to be 21lbs No difference what so ever. ball cup of the coupler to the axle 57" the width of the axle - center of tire to center of tire 42" I don't suppose they shipped me the wrong tongue? By looking at the pictures on their site and inst I'm starting to suspect I have the tongue for the regular Piggy backer not the XL........there is 5" difference in the overall length......time to call the Piggy people unless someone has an XL that can measure for me. Doubt I would catch anyone today. www.piggybacker.com Keith
  23. Hi Dray Yep Bike if fine without the trailer attached. I haven't tried it empty. Today I did remove the spare from the rear frame and that made no difference....think I will put it back on so it will help reduce my tougue weight. I checked the squareness of the trailer.....checked torque of nuts...boosted my rear shock to 40 lbs.......checked all tire pressures...... It feels like the shimmy is coming from under the seat for some silly reason....don't know if that makes sense or not? I'm gonna put it up on the lift tomorrow and see if my neck bearings need to be tightened....I chked them this spring and seemed ok. I did connect with a guy that has a home made trailer that lives about 30min away so I may go try his and see if I can eliminate the bike from the situation? Getting really frustrating I tell ya !! Keith
  24. Mike A few pi'cs of my 660 installed. I didn't use the mount setup that came with it....didn't care for the U Bolt set up. I used a Kury 1" clamp and a threaded Ram Ball mount. Keith
  25. Got a couple of questions about the trailer assembly. Where do most people have the spare tire mounted...(I have been thinking about not having it mounted at all ?) The inst say at the front but somewhere along the way I read to mount it on the rear frame. I have mine mounted on the rear.....thinking about tongue weight. On where the coupler mounts there is a plate/shim welded to one side......mine came with 3 washers so I assumed I was short one and put 1 washer on each of the two bolts...both sides...4 washers.....should I have put washers only on the side without the shim? Thanks Keith
