Did a ride two weeks ago from Manassas, VA through WVa to Columbus, OH. The ride on Rt. 33 from Harrisonburg, Va to Smoke Hole is amazing. If you can include either on the way in or out, I think it would be well worth your time. At that time of year I imagine that morning fog is a possibility in the mountains but the thunderstorm season should be winding down. I don't think it will be much different than what you get in the mountains in PA. If I hook up with you for the MD-PA preview ride we can talk some more. Tombo Ride on...

I have been using a TomTom Rider2 for about 4 months and have no problems with it. I went with the TomTom primarily because I have been using one in my car for a couple years and was very satisfied with it. As others have already mentioned one of the primary benefits of the GPS is the routing through unfamiliar areas and re-routing around roadblocks. The map book is always helpful for planning the route but the GPS is great for the actual ride. One benefit I found recently when riding the twisties in WVa was that the GPS gave a good indication about the upcoming turns. Of course it also helps finding restaurants, gas and other 'points of interests'. The actual choice of a unit is probably just a matter of personal preference, but I find a GPS very helpful. Speaking of wings, I rode with a friend to the Last Homecoming in Marysville last weekend. We had a great trip but some of those wing folk are kinda different. Definitely a big difference from the Harley crowd. It was interesting to see how they got all that plastic on a motorcycle. Ride on....Tombo

I don't think it is that surprising that Harley would offer a factory trike since years ago they offered the service car motorcycle, the type used by parking enforcement and garages in the 50's and 60's. I don't know when they stopped selling the service car motorcycle but the new trike is certainly more advanced and appealing to the current market. Maybe when I can't get my leg over the saddle and keep the thing balanced I will be ready for one. Ride on.......

Yama Mama you won't be the only VentureRider there. I am leaving early tomorrow with two friends from work to make the trip. One of them rides a GW and he wanted to visit the factory one last time. We are taking Rt. 33 through WV into Ohio. Don't know where we will end up tomorrow night but have reservations in Dublin, OH at the Embassy Suites for Friday night. We plan on leaving sometime Saturday and return to the Washington, D.C. area via Rt. 50. I have to be back early Sunday for a business trip to NYC Sunday night. I will keep an eye out and with luck we may cross paths. Ride on....

Any word if 2009 Venturer will be EFI?

I have a 2003 Ultra and just added the H-D heat shields and they seem to help when sitting in rush hour traffic in the 90+ weather we have been having. The Ultra seems to handle a little better in town due to the lower center of gravity and shorter wheelbase, but I do notice the lack of leg room and I have a 30" inseam. The RSV definitely is more comfortable for long distance cruising. Ride on... -

Spruce Knob Recreation area is nearby and the highest point in WVa. Canaan Valley State Park is a little further up the road and Blackwater Falls State Park is in Davis,WVa just a little further North. Ride on...

Based on what I paid last July for an 07 I think that is a reasonable deal. Tombo Ride on.....

Jerry: Until your amp quit I was thinking that you might be getting some electrical interference from the fuel pump, but now I am stumped as well. I hope you get it figured out. I don't like riding as much without my tunes. Tom Ride on....

Since Yamaha decided not to provide a factory painted trunk lip light for the 2007 RSV I had to purchase one in primer. I took it to a local body shop last week and they quoted $75 to paint it to match the Galaxy Blue. Still waiting to see how it comes out. I hope to get it back and mounted this week. Tombo

How about a twofer. About two weeks ago I backed mine out of the garage to wash her and I turned perpendicular to the driveway....well there is a little slope at the top but I do this every time I go for a ride. For some reason (I guess I leaned to the downhill side) she started down and I couldn't stop her as she rolled onto her front and rear crash bars. It took some effort but I got her up only to have her go over on the other side. Luckily there were no witnesses. I was able to get her up and washed without any further theatrics. Tombo

I was there and appreciated the support of the CMA, got a chance to refill my water bottle shortly before leaving the parking lot. I was riding as a guest with the Nam Knights M/C Club and was near the front with them. It was a great ride, the weather was perfect and the support was outstanding. I look forward to doing it again next year. Tombo

My suggestion is that you look at an eye glass that has plenty of coverage to keep stuff out of your eyes. You may also want to look at some of the sunglasses that wrap around the side to keep your eyeballs from drying out. I bought a pair of goggles that fit over my glasses and they helped on a long ride. Tombo

How involved are MC inspections in your State?
Tombo replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Watering Hole
Maryland has no inspection for M/Cs or cars except emissions for cars in urban areas. Inspection is required for transferring title of a used vehicle (cars and motorcycles). Tombo
