  1. My '07 spent the winter up on the stand in the front of the garage. It was very easy to move around and secure. A great accessory and worth the investment.
  2. We used to tell the folks on their way to the county jail....."you might go in as a tight end, you will come out as a wide receiver."...maybe there will be some justice after all. I am glad your ordeal is almost over.
  3. My Corvair was a '66 Corsa convertable (actually was my father's but I got it when he passed away in '68). It had the 4 single barrel carbs and cost me $100 to get them rebuilt ($25 apiece). It was a great car and still kick myself for trading it in on a new '72 Nova 350 SS when I got out of OCS (they gave me chump change for it on the trade).
  4. Did that on occasion with my old manual tranny Corvair. Just about blew the exhaust off.
  5. Glad to hear you were able to get things straightened out. When these bikes are running right they are a true joy. It shouldn't take much to keep it that way. Enjoy the ride!

    Going east

In the D.C. area there are two places to camp that are relatively close to the city, both on the north side. Greenbelt National Park is located near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and the beltway (I95-I495). It is inexpensive but primative (no hook-ups that I know of) You can check for details at www.nps.gov. The other location is Cherry Hill Park in College Park, Md. This is a commercial RV type park and is located near the Beltway and I-95 North. Keep us advised of your plans. I live close to both locations.
  7. Looks great! Nice work for a truckie (what's the matter, you don't like to squirt water?).
  8. I have both an '03 Ultra Classic and an '07 RSV. I just took the RSV out today for the first time in a couple of weeks (battery was dead and just got a replacement). I have been riding the Ultra most of the time. When I got on the RSV I was quickly reminded how much more comfortable it is than the Ultra. Smoother, more leg room and handles just as well at speed. I think the Harley is easier to handle at low speed in traffic but not enough to make a difference. Take one for a test ride and see for yourself.
  9. Sounds pretty much the way my dealer installed mine (after I had to pay to get it painted to match my '07). The wires are just laying next to the other wires running under the seat until they are apparently stuffed into a wiring connector. Doesn't appear to be as neat or professional an installation as I expected, but it works. I may go back at install some wire ties to keep it in place.
  10. I sent a PM to Beer30 a couple of days ago to ask him when/if he would be making more but have not heard from him yet. I should have ordered a set the last time he was selling.
  11. I have an 07 RSV and an 03 H/D Ultra Classic and found the Harley to be more nimble around town but a little short on leg room. The 09 Harleys have a longer wheelbase and should have more leg room, though I haven't ridden one yet. I love them both but if I only could have one? It would be a close call, particularly with the changes to the 09 Harley.
  12. I have the TomTom Rider 2nd Edition and I don't think it can be adapted since it doesn't have a readily available audio out port, but if anyone knows of a mod I would be interested.
  13. The newer Harley pipes have a catalytic converter in one side, probably the one that looks plugged.
  14. We have a couple sets in the department where I am currently working. We use them primarily in the auto theft unit, but parking enforcement uses them to find scofflaws to boot. There are also some homeland security uses for them.
  15. Just find a pair that you like. Some have different features and finishes. They say the drum dyed are a little softer and cost a little more. I found a pair that had a removable liner (snaps out) for extra insulation in cold weather. I have been very please with them and they make riding in cool or cold weather more enjoyable. Good Luck.
  16. Being partial to Pontiacs I would go shopping for a G8. That thing will run!
  17. I believe there have been several instances of fuel pump problems on the 07 RSV. I had mine lock up on me during an M&E last year when trying to start-up after lunch. I think someone said they thought it was overheating or something similar. I have only had it happen once.
  18. There are three covered bridges on the back roads between Frederick, Maryland and Gettysburg. I have taken a ride through them a couple of times last year and will make the route available if anyone coming up from the south is interested in going through them on the way up or back from Gettysburg.
  19. I was out of town all week and just saw this. Save a spot for me. I am looking forward to seeing the Halfwitt, Cecdoo and the rest of the crowd again.
  20. Just because they file for bankruptcy doesn't mean they will go out of business. Echostar, who is carrying a lot of debt from Sirius, may lose some money in a restructuring though.
  21. I found it a little of a challenge to do by myself, but once I get it lined up a little tap with a hammer drives it home. I will try the twist method next time. Still, I am very satisfied with the lift adapter.
  22. Welcome back. Life has a way of getting in the way of what we want to do sometimes. Glad you have your priorities in order - little family then big family. We all need some timeout from one or the other. We will always be here so drop in whenever you can.

    Ravens

I guess I have to root for them since the other local team is home watching football on TV now. It would be great to see the Ravens go all the way. It won't be an easy trip. Go Ravens!
  24. I would be hard pressed to buy a motorcycle without test riding one. When I first started looking for a new Yamaha I had my old bike in for service. I asked the salesman if I could test ride a Road Star (they didn't have an RSV on the floor). He gave me the same story about insurance, I told him I was not inclined to spend than much money for a new bike without test riding it. That was the last time I did business with that dealer. A year or two later I went to another dealer not too far away. When I asked the other dealer for a test ride he rolled the RSV I was looking at off the floor, gave me dealer tag and turned me loose. He said ride as far as you want. I was back in 20 minutes and bought the bike. I was very impressed with the RSV and love it. You really need to find a way to test drive each one to find the one that fits you. As loehring said, they each are different style bikes with different riding positions. You need to see what fits your riding style and riding position.

    sic em

I saw a training video of a Malinois running and hitting the michelin man so hard he took him down to the ground. Later when I had command of a K-9 unit they used to like to have me wear the sleeve for training. Even with the sleeve on you can feel the pinch from the jaws of a shepard. You definitely would not want to take a bite without a sleeve on.
