Just my thoughts: When running in the bush and on the fields and only using the tire for a short time anyways, the dangers of tire failure and lack of traction due to poor rubber composition is probably not a big issue, like you said, the sharpness of the knobs is important. When running on the highway at speeds in excess of 30mph the composition of the rubber starts to become very important to maintain all the traction you can get, in dry or in wet. If you would like to be a guinea pig and see what the cheap tires will do, I'll listen when you tell us, if you are able to post after you find out. In my opinion you mostly get what you pay for and if the cheaper tire could be sold for more, they would put a higher price on it. This may not always be the case, but I become very sensitive when I see big price discrepancies.

Rear bearings could be an issue, do check that out seeing as you didn't have a problem before. The steering head bearing work as a damper on the steering, if they are too loose anything at all that is not perfectly aligned will cause a wobble. Do check out the steering head and tighten it up a little. I think you'll be surprised at results, not just for getting rid of a wobble but also in total handling of the scoot.

Did he say anything about the whinning that comes from the back, above the seat level? Not that I have it, I have a smooth running 1st gen, but I have heard some talk about it and was just wondering.

A big rip off I'd say, I was in at Car Quest just last week and priced it, was told $9.69 a can, in Brantford Ontario CANADA. I'd be going back to see what's going on.

The church, being the body of Christ, is here to bless the world. Somehow I don't see this as being a blessing to others, nor does it testify of the love of the Creator. I'm sure glad there are more Christians than these folk. Nuff said. Carl

I would think you got a bit of grease or oil on the rotor, if you haven't had this before. Get some brake cleaner in a spray can and clean it up good before you start to pull things apart too far.

Thanks Lou, that was good to watch.

Best be putting some of them in your trunk in case you come along the road one day and find a friend in need.

Some body might convince me to ride, anybody want to try to convince me?
-
Feeling for you bud, if you need some 'help' let me know I'll see how it all shakes down. Be careful on the scoot and say hi to the phanthom wife, and hug her close. Carl

Glad to hear that your ok, it also something I tend to do, I even turn around and go after them, but always try to leave a way out, sounds like a dangerous business we're in. Heal fast and be more careful next time.

Man I'd like to ride. Is that option still open? But I'll cage it if we are. . Post from Ramblin man inviting us for eats afterward, are we in? Quote: To all those attending Leslie's funeral on Saturday - As it would be Leslie's wishes, the family will not be having a wake after the funeral. My wife and I would like to invite any of you who will be attending to join us at our house for a light lunch and fellowship after the service. In order to make necessary arrangements we would appreciate having an idea of how many of you may be joining us. Please email us at mbooks@xplornet.com Thanks, Bruce & Maxine http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15913&page=2&highlight=garyn I think it would be a wonderful idea.

Darn, what a time to be caught with only half a tank of gas in the scoot.
-
I'll be there hopefully, the Lord willing and the river don't rise. Planning on riding but if not will take the cage and then have room for 3 more. Time is not a factor for me, so we'll plan it as necessary.

The agreement is full of holes, they can do what they darn well please and have really no resonsibilty at all. At least that's the way I read it. Be sure you read the entire agreement before you sign on, and keep in mind that you are sending a lot of the info, that you do not want to give to some one else, to some one who you know nothing about.
-
I posted all my info, I'm so lonely I even have to run a Meet & Greet just to get folks to come over, you'd think I'd cut them up or something. Anyways I've had no adverse effects from the info I've posted and I hope it stays that way, but it is nice to know more about people, but that will be as it may.

I love the look on the face of the cager, it's like > what are you doing there beside me.

You may have a big mouth, I can somewhat agree to that, and that you follow through with things is only because once you get in motion, all that momentum is pretty hard to stop. Now that we're talking about things of a larger nature, I think it's only fair to mention your heart, for it is an effective size to match the body it's meant to serve. MAN, YOU HAVE A BIG, SPECIAL, HEART

decel wobble
Marcarl replied to Indyventure's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Take a look at this post, it's for a 2nd gen but the procedure is the same and the results are the same. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511 Your steering head acts as a damper to prevent the wobble you experienced. Something else may be causing it but the steering head is the first thing to check out. That you had it replaced just recently makes sense that it is now loose. The seals will compress and the bearings will seat better with some riding. Tighten them once more and you should be good to go. -
Bruce, thanks for keeping us updated. Seems you got yourself a temporary task. Wish you the best as well. I think we would also be very interested in the future arrangements that are being made for Leslie, as I'm sure some of us will want to attend. Would you be in a position to inform us on that as well?
