This is something EVERYONE should enjoy watching
gibvel replied to Midnight Rider's topic in Watering Hole
I love those drill teams. And in the Pepsi Center in Denver nontheless. -
Or be sure to use Rain-X on the inside as well as the outside.

The thing you have to be careful of at stops, I've learned, is incline. However, incline or no, always stop with the bike pointed straight and the front wheel straight. With and incline you really have to be careful to stop straight. Once rolling then you can turn. If that means you stop a little farther back from the stop sign to get a rolling start, then do that. If a decline it's not so bad but you still should stop the bike straight with the front wheel straight, don't anticipate the turn when you stop. I weigh 175 and my wife is, shall we say, less than that. I still hesitate to take her or any passenger on the bike and have to concentrate twice as hard not to make a mistake. As tx2sturgis said, with you at 170lbs, 260lbs is a lot of weight to try to balance on the back of one of these things. That's my .

Worried about oil leak - New '07
gibvel replied to Twenty7Delta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Where's your oil level sitting. These bikes HATE being filled over about half way up the site glass. They kick it out into the surge tanks and over the carbs, specifically on the left side of the bike. -
I think he meant zip+4... mine would be 80538-4352

You guys probably get more rain there than we do here anyway. You go for it, I insist!! Besides, you've got the Natchez trace ride coming up here soon and that would be a perfect place to try it out.

No Eck, you take your sample. I didn't know that he was only giving 15 out. I think, with what I know about you, you would be a better evaluator than I would be. Hopefully you all will post your impressions and then I can get some. Already found a place close that is supposed to be a retailer.

I'd be part of that extra 5.

How long does raincoat last. I'm assuming it lasts longer on face shields than it would on windshields...would that be correct? Could there be a bulk buy discount for the group?

I think I read on my bottle of Stabil that it's good for 2 years. If it's under that you shouldn't have to worry. If it at or over that you might want to get new anyway.

I believe you're correct, the signals would cause it to blink too quickly. However, you should be able to get a flasher relay made especially for LEDs that would slow the rate down. My only concern is, would they be bright enough.

Scott, Ever feel like you're bashing your head against a brick wall, wasting your breath, casting pearls before swine? As these guys see it it's not one guy it's lots of guys that are riding with car tires and not having problems. Or the "well, I don't ride it like a sports bike so I don't need it to handle like one". Well, someday, there might be that one instance, that one split second where you DO need it to handle like a sport bike or at least the best it can and guess what, it won't be there. (I'm not trying to change anyones mind here, just thinking out loud so don't anyone get their panties in a wad!!) Your words are not wasted buddy!! I hear you and my common sense is right with you on this one. I do, however, pray that these guys, with the car tires, and everyone out there, no matter what they ride or ride on, will never have an accident and ride safe!!

First Self Performed Maintenance
gibvel replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You might want to go to the hardware store and pick up about the longest Philips head screwdriver they have. You'll need it to get the sync. screw for #1. May want to take a tape measure and measure the distance to the screw from the right side of the bike so you can get the right size the first time. I got the wrong size the first time because I didn't think it was as far across as it is. -

Anyone have this happen
gibvel replied to gibvel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Friend said a similar thing. Possible that the radio has a capacitor that holds the voltage for awhile as opposed to the trip meter. And about the sag voltage during the stating event. -

Could I take it to an auto parts store and have it tested with a load tester? -
Is that Max sidewall on those tires? Sounds like, from ruffrider99s post that, it doesn't matter. It might be tire abuse by you. Have them buy you a set of Avons.

Some other people need to learn to read. I didn't say you couldn't do it, I asked a simple question as to weather you were going to run a bias or change to a radial up front as well. I've been told not to mix. You Assumed that I was going to criticize you for mixing. None of my comment criticized your decision to mount anything you want on your motorcycle. Heck, if you want to mount a square tire on the thing more power to you. I was just putting some thoughts out loud down as to how I don't think some of the comments on her can hold water when I (just me thinking in my head, my minds eye) try to logic it out. 2 comments on tires in general and how, design wise the tires probably wouldn't perform the way, on a MC, they were designed to an a car. And how tread actually reduces the contact patch of a tire. Geeze don't think everyone is out to get you!!

Condor, What's the difference between the PC545 and the PC545MJ functionally? I guess I mean what's the reason to have the Metal Jacket one?
-
I'm gonna say. Although this brings up the point...why can't you use miniatures of anything. So maybe not. Judges, what do you think.

I know that Don has an Odyssey and, I believe, he uses a battery tender on it. I have a battery MINDER and have emailed asking a question as to wether mine will work on gel or dry cells as well...cause, you know, I may be looking for a new battery here as well.

Well, if you don't here it when you haven't ridden for awhile it could be trouble. If you've just stopped somewhere for an hour or a couple min. you probably won't hear it because you're float bowls will still be full.
