:BLUE: 100K is a ton of miles on any bike. Having said that, a well maintained machine could be good for that many more. There are quite a few 1st Genners here with high milage and a few 2nd genners as well. I personally know two guys with 100k+ on their GoldWings. Depending on the price and what it needs, I would consider it. Regards, Ponch

You be careful there LA. Something gonna break.

I'm glad its working for you. You'll enjoy so much better health. I'm 2 1/2 years out from Gastric Band surgery. Lost a hundred pounds and am stable (physically not mentally). I still want to eat larger portions than I can, but the surgery limits that for me. Good Luck on ya Bro! Ponch

How about posting some more shots of it.

Carb Maintenance in North Texas

Thanks Goose. Looking forward to it. -
Its way better. I'm just saying that for her, with her physical staus and height, I had to slightly modify the surface of the seat. Rick's modification to the foam and insertion of high density foam to the right area was perfect.

If you have a stubborn plug, use fishing string too "saw" the adhesive off. Residue can be fairly easily removed with WD40. I used it and it didn't hurt the paint.

I had Rick rework both seats. I'm 5'8" and had him lower the driver's saddle by 1". This helped me sit flat footed. I rode 13 hours recently at one stint and was very comfortable. My wife is shorter (5'1") and had a little problem with her seat. She felt it pushed her forward too much causing her back pain. She removed the back armor from her Coretech jacket and it was better. I removed a "hump" off the surface at the rear of the rear saddle and all is well now. I have never heard of anyone else complaining of this issue, so I don't think its common. She now rides with the armor in place and is comfortable. It is way better than before Rick's mods. She was behind me on the 13 hour ride and never complained once. She was complaining after one hour before Rick's mod. Hats off to Rick for this very practical modification. His work is excellent and fast too. Ponch

Engine turns over but does not fire
Ponch replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't know if the first gen has the same ignition switch setup, but it sounds like the same symptoms as described by us second genners. Ponch -
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Its hard to tell from the photos, but depending on how thick the base mount is and how tight the tolerances are between the pivot pin and corresponding holes in the base mount, I can see where it could be a little sloppy. Ponch

Its not easy, but anything worth doing never is. We're all pulling for ya. Ponch

Jay, FWIW I laid ol' WilderBeast over last weekend after running out of gas to transfer every drop I could over to the left side of the tank. It laid right down on the engine/saddlebag guards without affecting the frame or trailer tounge at all (no swivel hitch). I didn't check the trailer that closely as I was more concerned with how I was going to get going again. But, later I did check the tounge pretty close and it is fine. I have been considering a swivel hitch or tilt ball. The jury is still out on this one for me, but I am comfortable with the non-swivel hitch for now. Ponch

Thanks Tom for letting us know about this trip. I'm glad we were able to attend and we had a great time. Great bunch of guys there. Two Harleys, two Kaws, two ventures and two Road Stars. Nice mix. Everyone made us feel welcome. LilBit let me know on the way home that this would be the last long distance winter event she ever attends. lol Saturday morning driving through Big Bend National Park, she had on her normal attire plus a Frog Tog rain suit, plus her CoreTech insulated jacket, plus my Frog Tog rain suit, plus heated gloves and she was still freezing. We had to cut the park trip in half, but did enjoy what we saw. (It was only in the low 40's). Sunday morning it was 18° when we got up and 22° when we went to breakfast (about a half mile bike trip). We hit the road about 9:00 and it was already 44°. Very nice trip home. The wind had died down and the Sun was full on and there was NO SNOW! We stayed overnight with Tom & Debbie and the triple threat (Dashunds). Thanks for putting up with us. Debbie and her pups are great! As Tom mentioned, we had a fun trip up. We left Tomball Texas at 7:00 am. It was rather uneventful until we hit far West TX. Did you know there's gas staions about every 80-90 miles out there? That should have been ok except we were running the 80 mile per hour speed limit into a pretty heavy headwind with a loaded trailer. I mis-judged my mileage and ran out right in front of the Sonora, TX off ramp. We dismounted and leaned ol' Wilderbeast over on the left guards to transfer as much gas as we could to the left side of the tank. That got us about one more mile. The gas station was about four miles. We started walking and a man picked us up and took us to get gas, brought us back and took the empty can back to the station. There are good folks among us! We bought a gas can for future use. Anyone that knows me knows I don't drive 80 even if it is the speed limit. I only did so I order to get to our destination before dark. Didn't make it. That 60 miles between Fort Stockton and Marathon took us almost two hours. You see there critters out there about the size of a small Moose they call Mule deer and THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!!! We have deer where I live and its devistating to hit one but these West Texas buggers are huge! Thats enough dribble from me on this trip. If you ever get the opportunity, check out West Texas and especially Big Bend Natrional Park. You won't regret it! Ponch Pics (sorry forgot the camera at home so I had to use the cel which sux)

My question is, how hard is it to get off the dolly by putting the center stand down? My thoughts as well. I wonder if it comes off the stand as easy? The assembly instructions say to lock two of the casters before dismounting. http://www.legalspeeding.com/docs/PnM_Assembly_Guide_22.pdf

leather & helmet saved my skin-Kevlar better?
Ponch replied to dharnie's topic in Safety and Education
I would like to hear anyone's coments on their Nolan flip front helmet. I know several here use it. I would like to know why they chose Nolan. Is it fiberglass or Poly? Is it lighter than other helmets they have used? Does it come with a superior mic set compared to J&M? etc. I am very impressed with what I have read about the Nolan helmet. -
She be green. And Purty too.

Kreg, I met a Lady Rider on an 86 VR Trike the other day. She said her husband built the trike from a Troupe Trike kit. They have another 86 VR and a parts bike. They live on Roberts Cemetary Rd. I gave her an invite to join VRRiders.org.

Haven't had any problem leaving the bike up on the jack. I left it the air for three days while waiting for the tires to be mounted and it was steady. There shouldn't be any alignment issues if you don't disturb the gear box mount bolts. Even if you do, its not a problem. Just make sure you snug the axle down and then tighten the drive mount bolts (nuts). Some have added shims to align the drive. Check for smooth rotation of the rear tire before putting the rear caliper back on. Then button everything up. How to remove rear tire. Hub lubrication. Axle alignment.

Rick, Our company has Symantec version 11.0.2000.1567 for our network security. We also have a server Firewall. We are linked between three locations nationwide. They are constantly updating the virus protection and it has worked well so far. I'm not in IT, so if any of this is wrong, its the best I know.
