You getting ideas???? First you need to get your 1st gen back together. Probably need to do the carbs, since it has been about 6 years, in your garage. Maybe just pass the 1st gen off to Scot or Ben, as you slowed down to 2nd gen speeds. Also, I had the 86 & trailer airborne, on final approach to Big Tom's, crossing railroad tracks. This was a week or so, after meeting up with you again, Dogman & Evan.
-
That is good enough for 2nd gens, as they don't move fast enough, for handling issues while pushing (Owls scoot should be able to keep up with a 2nd gen). But the 1st gens will keep the hitch on the back, to help the 2nd gens or Russ keep up (by towing them).

That rider in the video is not round enough, to be Blackowl....

bike will not start.Rocket replied to BigBMattie's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93) Clive, it is also better, for constantly doing short trips as well. Like when I was in Wainwright, or riding out for coffee in Mill Bay. No problems with pre-ignition, on last years 10,000 mile trip (including travelling in the heat wave).

You rode it at Cody???? I saw you over at the Ponderosa, in the truck.

May need to Stew up a Wolfie, Redneck style.

Never did stop there last year, not with travelling during the heat wave. We were past there, before opening hours after leaving the Omaha Motel 6, in the early morning.

Thus my drive chain comment, that can be easily removed, isolating the engine / tranny from the rear wheel. Who would go to the effort, to pull the driveshaft out of the swingarm, to tow this way. I have seen the results of a tranfer case on a veh re-engaging from neutral at speed, from hitting a bump. The veh was being towed & the transfer case exploded. This tow operator did not dis-connect the driveshaft, to protect the driveline. This is your call, but I would not put a Venture on this.
-
I would not use one. First off there is no drive chain that could be quickly dis-connected. Also how many people would be needed, to lift the front wheel on / off the mount position. Remember, these bikes are heavy........... IMO this is looking for damage to occur, by tipping over while lifting, or possible driveline.

I will be in for some tickets later, need to pay for a new TCI first. Last year, Grump & I bought $200. in tickets & I have the larger version of this trailer. Condor bought a few tickets & won the trailer. But the important thing, we sold out of tickets & was able to contribute to the Forums Special Activities Fund.

Front Fork Separation..Rocket replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93) Bill & I think they go in the very bottom of the lower fork tubes, below all the damper rod pieces.

Plastic Panels on Top of Head?Rocket replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93) My thought, is that the front one also shields the TCI from drowning, when riding in heavy downpours. I have rode in very heavy downpours, in various locations & live on the wet coast.

Spare Fuel for long TripRocket replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93) I have a 2.5 gal can on the front of the trailer, sitting on a mount made by Pakidaho. We used the fuel in it a few times, during the trip.
-
Yup Dan should make it to PIP..... Then he & Bubber can exchange recipies...... Out of earshot of Anne, of course.

battery, or charge systemRocket replied to Bobby's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk The ones I got in Alberta & in Victoria Bc were $170 + tax. The 5 yr old battery in the 83 didn't go when in the states, where replacing it would of been almost half the cost, of up here.

Spare Fuel for long TripRocket replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93) Or fuel up, when most of us topped off & you ran out of fuel as a result. Pacidaho bought the gas can (after I told them, back at the gas station). I got the fuel & made the service call. So we could get you back to the gas station & then to the big event dinner, back in Cody.

1st gens look & run great (when mainained), without the later de-tuning, suffered by the 2nd gens. 2nd gens are all show no go, like the newer computer run, speed restricted cars.
