Where are you filling up for 10 bux at? Costs me a 20 dollar bill!!!
-
Plug it and keep riding.
-
I can drag my highway pegs on the road now and have yet to ride on the "side" of the tire.
-
Are you sure it was intentional? 4 or 5 inches doesn't sound intentional. Sounds like somebody was unloading luggage and drug a metal corner over the top of the bag. It'd be cheaper for me to buy a new bike then fix all the scratches and dings in my bike.

Are you checking the coolant level in the plastic tank under the seat or in the radiator under the tank? I don't trust the plastic tanks. You have to check it in the radiator itself which means the tank has to come off. Yes there is a mechanical driven water pump. It is on the right side of the engine under a chrome cover. http://www.cycleoneoff.com/100_0816venture_set_up.jpg

New Member, Oil change question
flb_78 replied to Racso's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
One plug and One filter on the engine. Doing the oil change on a RSTD or RSV is literally a 15 minute job with a 10 minute beer break thrown in. This is the easiest oil change I have ever seen. -
RSV Miles per Gallon, Speeds, and Odometer Errors
flb_78 replied to V7Goose's topic in Watering Hole
Saturday I rode to Lubbock. I fueled up in Amarillo and rode to Lubbock running a speedohealed 75mph. I gassed up and averaged 34mpg. Rode back to Amarillo, I was running 70mph into a strong headwind and only was only getting 21mpg. I had to fuel up again south of Amarillo because I hit reserve. Riding around town and back and forth to work, I normally average 27-28mpg. -

It makes it much easier to change the final drive oil if you remove the saddlebag. I have to because my meat hooks won't fit behind the bag. It removes rather easily. There are 4 allen head bolts that need to be removed from inside the bag.

Depends on the company. Progressive WILL cover a bike with a car tire.
-
The only ones that are a confirmed fit are a BFGoodrich T/A Radial in 155/80R15 and a Federal SS657 in 165/80R15. The Federal is the preferred tire now because it is closest to stock and less expensive then the BFG. http://www.kolumbus.fi/rengaslasi/kesarenkaat/Federal_SS657.jpg

Moron? I take offense to that statement.

I agree, do not use an "energy conserving" rated oil in the bikes. Most 10w40 oils are not energy conserving. No 15w40 diesel oil is energy conserving either.
-
You could buy the Mobil 1 10w40 automotive oil and get the exact same thing in a different, cheaper bottle. Amsoil does the same thing. They put a motorcycle label on it and charge 2 more dollars per qt. I should also say the by "motorcycle" specific, I meant Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Bel-Ray brands of oil.
-
Wow. A v-10 engine pollutes more then a smaller engine. Who'd a thunk it?

I don't buy motorcycle specific oils, they are a rip off and usually the worst quality of oil available. I've been using 15w40 diesel oil for a while now and it works great. http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html

Those Darn Canadians. You do realize that's where we import the largest amount of oil, right? Saudi is #2 and Mexico is #3. Next is the African Nation of Nigeria. #5 is that evil Chavez nation of Venezuela. The only reason gas prices are as high as they are is because WE are willing to pay it. It's called Capitalism. http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/import.html If the Constitution were followed as it is written, then Congress and the President would have absolutely no influence on the price of fuel.
-
I don't believe there is any oil "pumped" through the trans. I think the gears are in an oil bath. With the front end in the air, there would be even more oil in on the gears. I don't see a problem at all weight wise. The front tire would still be carrying weight in the hitch.

How to fill radiator???
flb_78 replied to spyderhead's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Most quality antifreeze is low silicate nowadays. I would be more concerned that it's compatible with aluminum which almost all antifreeze is now. If you lose more then a cup of coolant, then you HAVE to fill it under the tank. Filling the reservoir will do no good on these bikes if the radiator is low. -
I would get a trailer before that setup. If you're just using to go across town to drop the bike off at the shop or something local, then yeah, it'd be OK, but I would drive any long distances (more then 30 miles) at speeds above 45mph. When the rear tire is turning, the driveshaft is turning and the transmission is turning and it's all turning with the pressure on the wrong side of the gears. Local stuff OK. Longer distances, get a trailer.
