This years Cup Finals is certainly one of the best series in years. At this point it's hard to tell who wants it the most. The Bruins have taken it up a notch or two while Vacouver seems to be stalled. Fridays game may give us an indictation of who's going to claim the Cup. Larry

That was a great write up Randy. One of the best ways to travel the country is doing it much like you did. Sometimes we get in a bit of a hurry and don't take the time to smell the roses so to speak. It was great seeing you again and your new lady friend. Hope we cross paths down the road sometime, until then enjoy all life has to offer. Larry

How Many Miles Before Your RSV Clutch Slipped?
Carbon_One replied to OB-1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
20,000 on mine but then that was due mostly to having added a trike kit. Even then it never really slipped unless really getting hard on the throttle. I didn't want to have it develop problems down the road so installed a PCW upgrade kit. No problems with slippage since and now have over 43k on the clock. Larry- 12 replies

Two pairs of eye glasses left at Maintenance Day
Carbon_One replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Heck he even did a good job of hiding from me. Never got the chance to say hi to him. Seen him coming and going a couple times but was tied up with other folks then. Someday perhaps, Larry -

Yep he had the truck, no trailer thou, but at least he was able to stop by for a bit. Larry -
Arrived safe and sound about 1:30 as well. What a great weekend meeting new and old friends. Don's MD just keeps getting better and bigger every year. At the Friday evening Steak & Lube dinner there was nothing but a sea of Yamaha's in the parking lot. For once they out numbered Harley's and Honda's there. Staurday at Don's was a repeat thou I do have to admit it seems more of our ranks are flipping to Wings and H-D's. Can't blame them none since Mother Yamaha doesn't seem interested in improving the RSV's & RSTD's. Anyhow I would also like to thank Don & Ellien for opening their home to all of us. With this event growing each year it has to be a lot of work just prepping for it. THANKS for your willingness to do this for our club. Even thou there were some folks who didn't show by looking at the number of name tags left over we surely must of have exceeded last years head count. Later, Larry & Joyce

I have seen one Venture trike with a "leading link" set up but have never seen any advertised anywhere. Basicly they will do the same thing as raking the forks and that is changing the trail. Maybe it would be a custom made set up and ya Condor the pic you show is what Hawque is looking for. Larry

Can you have invisible controls on the bars
Carbon_One replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
While I haven't seen nor head of ayone doing this to a RSV about all you could put inside the bars would be the elecrical wires and even them it'd be one tight fit if you could get them all in there. Keep in mind one reason the customizers can do all that is the size of the bars they use. Larry -
[Quote "I saw nothing there that indicated that they even did or do the RSV,,, From what I know ( which is limited ) the only kits available for the RSV is Hannigan, and Tri Wing. " quote] This is true from my researches as well for any current companies doing conversions on these bikes. I do know that Motor Trike had also done conversions in the past on Ventures. I'm guessing they don't anymore due to the low volume of doing conversions for them. Profits ya know. Anything else out there would be very limited or one offs. Larry

We'll have to get us another get together some time soon for the Michigan/Ontario riders. Maybe a ride to Hell and back would be in order. Larry

"What did you find out about Joyce and who will ride with Deb in car?" Joyce will be going providing she's feeling better. Been under the weather a bit these last few days. Also the trip with the grand daughter was cancelled. Jay's wife, Jeanie will either ride with Deb or Joyce, choice being hers of course. Larry

That's cause I know I'll be the only one with a trike there and won't have to worry about kickstands. This was for the two wheelers who haven't gotten as smart yet about such things. :stirthepot:

For anyone whom I may have missed from this area going to Don's MD here's the plan. We'll be meeting up near Monroe at exit 15 & I-75 at the TA travel center Friday morning. Kickstands up at 10 am. Also some of us will be arriving earlier (about 8:30) and having breakfast at Denney's restraunt across the street. From there we'll be taking a leasurely ride to the hotel/Don's using mostly secondary roads. Staying off freeways as much as possible is the goal. Currently it looks like we'll head up 8-10 riders for this group. Hope to see you either there or at Don's. Larry

Carbon_One replied to MiCarl's topic in Watering Hole
Yea that. Larry -
You need to punch a small hole near the top of the filler neck to allow trapped air to escape. Larry

Now that would have to be pretty good since my favorite is Butter Pecan as well. As to the original topic here Michigan requires a helmet so I wear one. Half helmet to be exact like the motor patrol here uses. But it's alway on my head regardless of the states requirements I visit. As to ATGATT I wear either a mesh jacket or a light weight nylontype most of the time. Thou I do at times ride with just a shirt & jeans. No flip flops or shorts here. Larry.

As Taz says you'll probably need to tighten up the neck bearings. It does make a huge difference after doing that. Ez Steer recommends 25 ft lbs of torque. That's a bunch more them Yamaha says in the service book. My trike is raked and only rarely gets to shaking the front end. Mostly when going over rough roads or rail road tracks. Hope this helped, Larry

What you want is for the oil level to reach just to the bottom edge of the axle tube section. That way there'll be just enough oil being splashed on the axle bearings to keep them lubricated. Regardless of the type of axle used. To clarify, the vent tube on my axle is in the cast iron section of the carrier assembly, not on the steel tube itself. So even without tubes you should have room for a vent because you still have the u-joint flanges outboard of the carrier assembly. Larry
