  1. GM White Diamond Pearl. Of course, I'm biased.
  2. Good news and bad news. The good news is that I have some parts for a 1st Gen trunk. The bad news is that they're at my home in Omro, WI, and I'm in Arizona. If you're not in a hurry I think I can dig up what you need.
  3. I just installed this one in my Honda Pacific Coast: http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=IMC-MIT-100U It seems to be a good unit so far, and I was able to integrate a CB unit (Midland 75-822) that I picked up at Walmart for $70.
  4. Sounds like you've isolated the problem to the headset. Check the pins in the connector plug to see that none have been bent over. Spray them all with a contact cleaner if you have some handy. Check the cord and any exposed wires for any sign of pinching, cracking or shorting. If all of that fails, it may be time for a new headset. If so, I can give you a REALLY good deal on a headset that came with my bike when I bought it. We already had helmets with headsets, so it's an extra that I don't need.

  6. It's the spread that you get from too many stops at Dairy Queen.
  7. Doing fine here. Got the bike back together, the mud flap installed (thanks again for that) and now it's time to try to mess up the wiring by installing some driving lights. I just checked the service manual, and the CB diagram there isn't quite as clear as the one in the owner's manual. Let me know if you want it. Mel
  8. I've got the CB schematic from the Owner's manual saved as a pdf file. Let me know if that's what you're looking for, and where to send it.
  9. Generally averages 45 mpg. Speeds from around town to 70, one rider or two, doesn't seem to matter.
  10. Best wishes for a quick rehab time. Try to do the one thing that NONE of us are good at - do what the medico's tell you to do!
  11. Geez, whatever you do, don't replace it with the same kind and color of truck!
  12. A lighter bike that can handle 2-up and priced around $3-4,000? How about a Honda Pacific Coast? Fairing, luggage, lower seat height and 800cc. That's my "other" bike, and it's almost as much fun to ride as the Venture. (I'd say it IS as much fun, especially when riding solo, but I don't want to start a war!)
  13. Glad to hear that it's working well so far for you. For those of you that have this to face in the future, I had lenses put in that actually can change focus from far to near: http://www.crystalens.com/newsite/pat/ I had mine done over 1 year ago, and about the only time that I need any type of reading glasses would be for "phone book" size small print. The down side is that they cost more than a standard, fixed-focus lens, and the insurance companies typically won't cover the difference. For me it was worth it.
  14. Are you saying that it automatically dumps all of the pressure when you do that? Or is it just that the monitor is showing no pressure? You might want to check out the threads on re-soldering the circuit boards involved.
  15. Theoretically, the RV channel is 13, but there aren't many that monitor it. Most monitor the trucker channels (17 and 19).
  16. But then I'm biased.
  17. Sugar, Sugar by the Archies. Top hit of 1969 - how embarrassing!
  18. Geez, my 14 B's feel downright petite now!
  19. Exactly how does Alaska have the ability to revoke a Georgia driver's license in the first place?
  20. Man, something's wrong, either with that site or my computer. I can tell that it's a song, but it sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks singing it at double speed!
  21. 623 on medium. Give me a 12 gauge!
  22. Thanks for that info, Muffinman. That'll save me some frostbite today!
  23. I opened up the control heads - the parts (on the removable piece) that have the volume controls and preset buttons. I couldn't find a backup battery in either of those units. If there's any to be found, it must be in the tuner unit itself - the part that stays in the fairing. If I can get my fingers thawed I may try going inside that part to see if there is one. The things I do for amusement. Sure wish it was the season to ride instead of putz!

    Need Advice.

Well, I suppose that you could take a picture of you next to the bike, with you holding a newspaper with a headline that shows that it's a current paper. Maybe a sports page headline from a recent game. I know I'm reaching here, but it works in kidnappings!
