i am wanting to re visit this subject as i was looking at the HF trailer to put my box on, I noticed a disclaimer on the wheels which said 55 MPH Max. most answers had to do with the scooter. I understand about liabilities and such, but it seems like everyone here who pulls a harbour freight trailer goes 60 to 70 regularly. the scooter is not the weak link here, but the manufacturer's warning i am concerned about. U-Haul has the same sticker & i ignored it whist renting one 2 summers ago. i did just fine. has anyone noticed any wheel bearing problems or having to performe wheel maintenance more often or is it status quo and go for these 8" wheels? the trailer i am looking at probably could hold the 12" wheel, but the kit comes with 8", so i will start out with those.

Well I've been watching pull behind Motorcycle Trailers on Ebay for some time. Every once and awhile I would show my wife one I thought was nice to get her opinion. Without saying a word she bought me one last night. I had pretty much I would just get a large piggy backer, but she ending up getting me an all Diamond plate with 18 cubic feet of capacity, chrome wheels, torsion axle, carpeted interior and LED lights. It only weighs 190 empty. I am stoked and realize just how lucky I am. (Mini & Cindy she even can stand me Nekid:rotf:) Can't wait to for it to be delivered. COME ON SPRING!!!

For the first time in a few months I actually rode a scoot. The back is almost 100%, and the weather was awesome. I needed a little welding done on the '91, so decided to ride it over to the welders. Not far but enough to get the feel of being on 2 wheels again.... WooHooo!!! Temps yesterday got into the 70's. I actually cracked a sweat working on the scoot in the afternoon...

I originally posted this in a thread started by tx2Sturgis regarding the new Spyder motorcycles, but I am seeking input and decided to start the new thread. Anyway, I wonder when some enterprising individual will come up with a conversion kit for the RSV that will change out the front end to two wheels and leave the back end alone?????? I would think that would be something to consider. It seems that this type of conversion would be easier to achieve (if not cheaper), we would keep the workings of the RSV, and it would implement the increased braking ability of two front wheels. What do you think?

More redneck engineering questions for you guys. Actually, for anyone that may have tried to or done this. I need (want) a spare rear wheel for my '07 Venture. Even with used wheels I'm finding they are way expensive. But I can find VMax wheels for almost nothing. Looking at photos, OTHER THAN THE WHEEL STYLE, it LOOKS like the only difference is the rear brake rotor mounting is a different bolt circle diameter. So, for anyone that has tried it... will it work if I get a VMax rotor? Is the spacing correct? Or will I have to let the moths out of the wallet?

Adventure Sports Products Cargo Trailer. Model SST. For sale locally in my area. Went to their web site, looks like a good trailer, but looks aren't everything. It's a 2003 model, less than 2000 miles on it. Any idea about it's value? Anybody here have one? Opinions? Looks like a low option version. Solid white in color, no wings or air foils. It does have the aluminum wheels and I think Gold Wing tail lights. Any info would be greatly appreciated! I passed a small cruiser last night on a country road. It had training wheels! (sorry no camera) Is it legal to use traing wheels on a public road? It doesn't seem all that safe.

I'm just sitting here listening to all the mail of how to add on your phone, (so you can talk like the cagers). Or how you can add this or that to keep touch with the world. I thought that the reason we road was to get rid of all this c****! Correct me if I'm wrong or are we becoming a soccor mom on 2 wheels. Just something to think about!

Thank you to everyone that made my family's first Vogel event so memorable. For the great rides, great individuals, and Kevlar-seeking bears, we plan to be back next time. As a side note, I'm also proud to say that my oldest son learned to ride his bike without training wheels while we were there. He's still got a few years before he can ride with his dad but he's on his way.

Would like to know if anyone has a couple of front rims off a dirtbike? Would like to stay with a 16 to 19 in. rim. Spoke or mag would work. Already have the box just looking for the wheels.

Well, I did it. I had my '08 RSV triked out. It's been in the shop for a week and I finally got it back this afternoon and took it for a short spin. I had the Hannigan Trike kit put on it. I think my mechanic did an amazing job on it. I'm now looking for some different rear wheels and some other chrome to add to it. Trying to attach a picture, not sure if it will work or not. I'm having difficulty finding chrome beauty rings or nice hub caps for my pull behind trailor. 8" wheels. I originally had chrome wheels but they got warped out of round in a previous tire change. I thought the tires were faulty until a recent change to new tires and discovered the warped rims. I have replaced them w\ white standard rims that I have painted black and still have chrome lug nuts. A chrome beauty ring would look killer. Or a good looking hub cap that can be adapted to fit over or around bearing buddies. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cleaning and Repairing a First Gen Tape Deck Thanks to Red Baron for this excellent article A few weeks ago I did a tour of the northern US and put about 7000 miles on my 1990 Yamaha Venture Royale. During this tour, my tape deck "ate" one of my tapes. I like to listen to the tapes while on the road when out of range of local radio stations. I have several tapes of classical music as well as my favorite vocalist, Babs, Barbara Streisand. Not being able to determine the cause of this failure while on the road, I waited until I returned home to affect a repair of the unit. I inquired of this group for advice. Thanks for the responses. Most of you thought it just needed cleaning. I went a little further than that. Since the unit was 18 years old, and I use it often, (I have 82K miles on the old girl) I suspected the belts may be worn or had failed as well as needing a good cleaning and lubricating. As I do all my own maintenance, with the help and advice from this and other web sites as well as service manuals, I thought you might be interested in a short "How to" of what I did. This unit now seems to perform as it should, i.e., doesn't "eat" tapes anymore. First thing I did was research belt availability. I found belts on the web at a place called Vintage Electronics in Corvallis, Oregon. I needed three belts. Part # SCQ4.0 --- $3.10 Part # SCQ6.5 --- $2.10 Part # SCQ10.0 --- $2.55 I ordered them, used PayPal to affect the payment and received them four days later. Great Service http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image001.jpg Next thing I did, after receiving the belts, was to remove the unit from the bike. The tape deck can be removed from the radio/tape deck holder by removing one hex nut from the bottom of the unit. You will also need to unplug the power cord. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image006.jpg After freeing the unit from the holder, remove the top and bottom cases. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image009.jpg After removing the cases, the belts can be seen. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image013.jpg The "V" shaped piece must be removed to expose the belts for changing. This can be accomplished by removing three screws and lifting the "V" shaped piece very carefully. There is a spring on the right side that will impede removal. Just lift around the spring leg. It's easy. You can do it. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image016.jpg OK, you're there. Remove all three belts. You will need to remove the large wheel on the left to access the belt beneath it. Note their position carefully before removing. A sketch may help. Now, before installing the new belts, lift the large wheels straight up and put a drop of oil on their shafts. They will lift straight up and out of the unit. Just one drop of light oil is all that is needed. 3 in One oil or equivalent. Reinstall the shafts/wheels into their respective positions. Now install all three new belts. The belt under the left wheel will have to be installed before reinstalling that wheel. When satisfied that all three belts are tracking correctly, reinstall the "V" shaped piece with the three screws removed earlier. Turn the unit over. Now we want to clean the rubber wheels and the pickup "head". I used a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to affect this cleaning. Dip one end of the swab in alcohol and use it to carefully clean the head and wheels. Use the clean end of the swab to wipe off residue the alcohol loosens from the wheels. Remove any excess oil from the ends of the shafts oiled from the other side. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image020.jpg Now we can reinstall the top and bottom cases. http://www.venturerider.org/tapedeck/image023.jpg After installing the case pieces and making sure that all the screws are secure, install the assembly back into the radio/tape deck holder and reinstall into the bike. Unit should function like new. No more "surging" from loose or worn belts. No more tape "eating" caused by dirty drive wheels. Hope this has been of some value to anyone doing their own maintenance. Red Baron Addendum: Do NOT over lubricate. ENSURE that "belts" are NOT "twisted" . If the belts are "twisted" the speed will not be correct. These are square cross section belts and MUST have the same "flat" of the belt touching in the groove on the wheels. Just look closely at the belt. If there is a twist in the belt between wheels, it's not going to work correctly.

Has anyone on here ever had a set of wheels powdercoated? if so are there any problems that I need to be aware of? Wheel weights and such? Don't know if I will have this done, any ideas about the price?

harbor freight has the two smaller size trailers on sale again 146 for 8 inch wheels was 229 and the 12 inch wheels is 189 was 279 if anybody is looking to build one nows the time to get I missed the 139 earlier this year.
