I did some computer work for a local business and friend. I saved him so much money he is offering to paint my bike for free using House of Kolor paint, I can do candy or anything in their paint line. Anyone know of what colors look best on a 1st gen? I think it needs to stay a "classy" color and stay away from neon lime green crotch rocket or other sporty colors. anyone know of what colors look really good? does the bike look good with a metallic black or any of the dark colors or should I stick to something brighter?

I am thinking of driving my car down to the southwestern us around Feb 1st. I would then rent a motorcycle and tour where ever I can ride. Can anyone give me some suggestions. I need to stay out of the mountain passes I would imagine. Phoenix to LA and back ? I just need to get away from snow!!!!!!

I ask for opinions & got a few. So here goes. Wife says she won't ride with me if I'm pulling it. Boy, pulling a trailer all the time might get old. Axle is now narrowed and under it. Fender just sitting there to see if that's what I really want to do. Tail lights & turn signals. Tails a little bigger than I'd like but gotta stay legal. Stay tuned.

Janets ( Lil Tex ) knee surgery went well, it was a very long day, but she is home. Hopefully this will be the last that she has to go through. She has a brace from her hip to the top of her foot, and trying to learn to use crutches is always fun, but she`s getting it... plenty of pain meds, stay off her feet for a few days and all should be good.. Please keep her in your prayers!! Kreg

Where in the heck does this thing mount? (08 rsv) The directions say remove the plastic cover. What plastic cover? Allen set screws to the bolts? I can figure that out if it will stay on. Any pictures appreciated. I love Yammie accessories. hh

Has any one else had the problem of dozing off on long rides. It has happened to me several times. I usually catch myself before actually falling asleep. The first time it happened we were heading home from Knoxville. I think it was around 2 AM and we were on the expressway. Ron had the music off and there I was fighting to stay awake. I know it is not a good thing. Just wondered if it happened to anyone else. I know Mini is going to make fun of me, but I thought I would ask if it is just me. Yama Mama

My navigator and I are planning a last minute get-a-way for next week. We want to go to Hot Springs Arkansas. We will probably stay for two nights before coming back home. Does anyone have any recomendations for a good, reasonable, safe place to stay? And...while in the area what would be a "DON'T MISS THIS" thing to see or do??? Any and all ideas are appreciated. Mike

Everyone stay safe down there in TX. Ike isn't gonna be a nice storm at all. They said it's pushing water up into FL, AL, MS, and LA which can't be much fun. Hope it does something they aren't calling for and weaken some before hitting you. Margaret

Some of you may remember that I took a wild leap of faith and tore my bike apart myself to have it painted. Well, that was back in June and I still can't get the dealer to give me back my parts. I have threatened to get a lawyer, to file a police report for theft, and begged for my parts to be returned -- everything short of threatening to come beat his ass! However, I still can't get this guy to get my parts back to me. He claims that he parted them out and that the painter won't bring them back despite his numerous calls. I've given up that I'll get them back this riding season and have stepped back to calm down and decide the avenue to pursue. The problem is, every time I begin to think of how to deal with the situation I just become crazy mad and start looking around for my baseball bat. I'm not certain at this point that I can stay cool so I've avoided calling for the last week. I'll figure something out in a couple of weeks after I go to the Vietnam Veteran's Reunion in Kokomo, IN Sept. 19 & 20. I should have some sense back by then and will probably call the police in. In the meantime, does anyone know how I can contact Yamaha to file a complaint? I'd appreciate the help. Chuck:crying:

Those 1st gen lower fairing vents tend to flop shut every chance they get. Anybody got an idea how to stiffen them up so they'll stay open? Thank you, but no super glue tips please.

If you need a place to stay, our home is open to you. We have plenty of room, just bring a sleeping bag. Give me a call on my cell 256-874-3616. I can see a Hurricane Party brewing up here too! Be safe, Bobbie and George

...do you pick up hitch hikers? do you make them wear a helmet? What if they fall asleep on the bike? What if they don't want to get off? Would you take them across an international border? I picked up this guy in Ohio, thought I heard him say something about wanting to go to Quebec but I don't understand french. He looked like he was enjoying the ride so I let him stay on; and the border guard didn't even ask him any questions!! (at least they are getting smaller and aren't breaking my air dam)

Anyone planning on attending? I went last year and I registered this afternoon to go back one more time. It is one awesome event. The plan: - leave St Thomas on the evening of August 13 and stay in the Burlington/Mississauga area (staying with friends and family); - leave Burlington early on August 14 and head towards Somerset, PA via US219. Arrive in Somerset by 3:30 pm (in time to take part in the escorted tours to the site of the Flight 93 Memorial); - stay at the Quality Inn Somerset on the night of Aug 14; - participate in the escorted ride to Arlington, VA on Aug 15. - stay @ the Doubletree Crystal City in Arlington for the night of Aug 15; - participate in the escorted ride to Ground Zero in NYC on Aug 16. - stay @ the NY Sheraton on 7th Avenue for the night of Aug 16; - participate in the ceremony at Ground Zero on the morning of Aug 17; - head home via NY State Thruway So far, there is myself and two buddies from Burlington. John and I did this trip last year for the first time, and it is quite a moving experience. By the time we come into New York City there are nearly 1,000 bikes in the procession. Some of the pictures from last year are at: http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b320/BluesLover55/2007%20trips/Americas%20911%20Ride/ If you're interested in going, here is a link to the website: http://www.americas911ride.org/ Cheers, Lou

We're getting for our trip to the Black Hills in SD the first of next month, and looking for a place to stay round Deadwood. We would like to stay at a smaller Family owned Mom & Pop place close to Deadwood. Does anyone know of such a place in the area? Looking forward to all the great rides and sights that I have read and heard about. Thanks for any help you can give me. BigD

Poor performance after tip over
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have an 83 XVZ12 that tipped over after stopping, "foot slipped out". The bike was gently laid on it's right side. Only visable damage was a small scuff on the upper fairing. My problem is this. It seems to run just a bit doggie when under throttle, when I get on the throttle at about 55-60 it boggs a bit then picks up, almost like a turbo kicking in. Another problem is that my cruse control will not stay engaged more than a few seconds, when I can get to stay on it won't accel with the acc button any more, at least not like it did. Could this be a vacume problem or a fuel problem? Everything was fine until the tip over. HELP! Chris.
