My apologies, I originally posted this in the wrong forum. I'm still getting used to the site. Sorry about that. The other day, whlie on the bike, my wife was driving behind me in her car. She said she was concerned about the lack of visibility from the rear and sides of the RSV and that we need to add some lights. I would appreciate hearing from some of you the kind of lighting you've added and if you could provide the site to obtain the lights. Thanks in advance. Jim T

There are many reasons I like this site besides just the great people that are here. Although that is the #1 reason. But lets look at a few more. On this site I found out that modifying a Road King muffler would give me a throatier sounding exhaust. By the way mufflers were free. On this site I found out which clamp would make my new mufflers look like factory replacements, along with part numbers. On this site I found detailed instructions on how to modify the mufflers and even diagrams on how to build the mounts. I modified my mounts a little but they worked perfect. On this site I found directions on how to remove the front fairing to grease the connectors and prevent problems. While the fairing is apart I found out how to wire in some aux lines for my MP3 player and GPS including part numbers, again on this site. Now while I had the bike apart I was also able to correct the one problem I see with my RSV. It has WAY to much chrome on it for my liking so that had to go. Headlight bezel, windshield trim, front fork protectors, front and rear blinkers, rear tail light bezel and license plate bracket, front and rear fender trim and the carriage for the trunk and side bags were all blacked out. The motor area being dechromed is next. So here is my slightly darker black cherry RSV with the RK mufflers and clamps and all the wiring for the MP# and GPS. Thanks for all the great info I've found, and will continue to find and pass along in the future.

Long ago, before the big crash of '06, I had posted a picture of the Yamaha engine. It was a cool pic that showed the engine at an angle with exhausts and etc. intact. I think I originally got it from the Yamaha site but it's not there now and I can't find it. Did anybody happen to keep a copy?

My mechanic has been a busy one lately. I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends also show up at his door asking questions, getting advice, sharing a story or two and making him laugh with some of their jokes. I just don’t know how he keeps up with the, now two, shops that he looks after plus his family his property. I sure glad he’s got some help with some of the locals. What bothers me sometimes though, is how long will he stay on. Very few of his customers pay him anything because he just won’t present a bill, he says it all from the goodness of his heart, and I believe that to be true. The other day though, I did leave him a little something so that he could maybe repaint the front door or maybe replace the chairs that we seem to have worn out by sitting on and watching him work. I’m thinking to make up a sign so that more of the other ‘locals’ will leave a little bit so that this winter when it gets cold, it could be a little warmer when we sit around and chat. I figure that with a little over the 3000 customers he has, we should be able to keep quite warm this winter. Yep you guessed it, MY MECHANIC is this site and if I need to say more this part will have to go to part 3. I really think that just counting the bike info we get, let alone all the other entertainment, comradery, prayers, support, physical help, and more, that we get from this site, we certainly would not want to forget to place just a little something in the donation box. Ok I’ve said too much, but it’s been on my mind and I couldn’t shake it. Now it’s done. Carl

Just got done changing spark plugs and engine coolan. Thanks to those who have posted service manual and have taken the time to put simple directions on how to: Thank you. You guys have saved me a lot of money. Now I can get a Carbtune and sync my own carbs. After looking at the carbtune site, what accsessories did you order with your carbtune, if any. If anyone wants to use it after I get it and they live in my area, I will be glad to help them and let them use it. Thanks again for all of the postings and good advice.

Happy Labor Day to all my fellow Ventureriders. I enjoy this site and i have noticed that a few questions have come up about who uses what oil and/or which oil is best for my bike. I have found that www.bobistheoilguy.com is a great site for oil information. That site has helped me save money, get free oil, and changed my mind about the 3k oil change. Take a look sometime.

Well i noticed last night that i have to pull the lever almost all the way back to have a full release. Found that out at a stop light. I have noticed over time that the lever seems like it needs to move a little farther back to release the clutch. The clutch does engage at the same point it always has. It has been hot here in KC and humid for most of the summer. I don't know how old the fluid is but it is not clear but more of a dull darkish tinted color. I have done a few searches on this site and my first course of action will be to change the fluid. I havent had any leaks so maybe a new hose if the fluid swap doesn't do the trick. This site is a great resource for repair how to do's because the members actually do their own repairs and let others know the little things that make a repair job less frustrating. I will keep you posted.

Went to the 25th anniversary Muleshoe Roadriders Run Saturday and found a vendor that makes passenger and rider cup holders for out bikes. His web site is www.tourkingcovers.com. He does not show them on his web site but he does have them. I got one for the passenger and took some pictures. The cool thing they are $22.00 each for those who are watching their nickles & dimes.

Hi, I was sent this site from a USA riding friend, It is great if you put your cursor on the songs that show on the juke box from the years 1956/57/58/59/60 The music is the real thing,it brings back many thoughts of pulling into a resturant putting in a quater and getting 5 songs, and ordering a soft drink and a hotdog, but the time and the music is much different today, but for anyone who would like to reminise or to just get a taste of the music from the past now is your chance. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. > mobile http://www.bobforrest.com/JukeBox.htm

Change the bulbs in the OEM Passing lamps and is there a specific bulb type that goes in this lamp? Was looking at the PIAA site and that got me wondering.

I copied this from another site, figured it might be "FOOD" for thought to all riders. . . Well, they say fast food is no good for you but I never expected this... I was out cruising last Thursday and decided to pull into a local McDonalds for a quick burger. There I am, driving straight in at about 10-15 mph and all of the sudden it felt like someone yanked the wheels out from under me! I was bouncing off the pavement before I knew what hit me! As I lay there with the wind knocked out of me and feeling like I'd just been beaten, a guy came out and helped me up. When I choked out "...*gasp* why is your parking lot so slick??" he replied "we spill the grease sometimes on the way to the dumpster! Bikes wipe out here all the time! Another guy wiped out here just 2 weeks ago!!" You can imagine my shock to find out that this was a regular occurance and they chose to do nothing about it! No sign, no sand, nothing!! So, I've got one broken (looks like a zig-zag) rib in my back and a cracked one in my chest. About $1000 damage to my bike (windshield scratched to crap, crome damaged, handle bars all bent, triple-tree c**k outta whack). Needless to say, they'll be hearing from my lawyer! I was able to ride to my fiancee's house but that was the most painful, toughest ride ever! My advice to anyone pulling into a fast food joint - avoid the dumpster like the plague! Park next door and walk over!! (...or just go to Subway - much healthier!) _________________ First let me give you the facts. Then you can distort them anyway you wish.

I just ordered a Motophoria Infiltrator jacket from http://www.motogearoutlet.com/ I saw it many places for $269 and I bought it for $79. I feel it was quite a steal. Does anyone have any experience with it? As far as the site goes, they seem to have some great deals - it seems they only take PayPal, though. Happy Thanksgiving, all!
