  1. Since I could not load the bikini side panel pictures on your PM, I will try it here. I cut the bottom section to the length I wanted and then used a heat gun to soften the plastic to bring it to a point. I then used Devcon Plastic Weld to fill and very little body filler to smooth it out. I also narrowed the top section some to make it blend with the fairing better. I hope this helps some. RandyA
  2. Recently had exhaust Y repaired on bike under warranty, successfully I might add, but now I have discovered exhaust blowing through small holes (2) underneath each rear pipe section. Is this normal? I originally thought they were for moisture drainage. Can someone shed some light on this for me. Thanks, Ebabe
  3. even the Jokes section is still PG rated...
  4. I have a tan corbin seat without backrest in the classified section. I couldn't get pictures reduced so you can contact me and I'll send pictures and you will have better resolution. Price is only $150 plus shipping!
  5. Hi y'all, I'm back on the board after a few months' absence. I got laid off and even the $12 membership was a stretch to me, but I'm happy to report that I'm working again! Did anyone miss me? (BTW, my bike is for sale and can be found in the Classified section).
  6. Here are some pictures of the trike I purchased "as is" a few months back. I've put about 700 miles on it and the last 200 have been trouble free, more or less and I couldn't have done it without all the help from the members of this orginization and the technical section. 10. Hi, I was worried about the excessive lean when my red bike is on the side stand. I read all the old posts about 1st gen side stand problems. Interesting and informative thought they were, I don't see the answer I need. Looks to me like my s.s. is bent, I will try to describe it cause its all rainy out and I am feeling too lazy to get out the camera and usb cables etc. Please bear with me. The gap, formed by the two flanges at the top of the side stand, where it hinges on the frame flange, seem to be spread apart. I measure 9.5 mm at the bottom of the channel but 11.5 mm at the opening. It looks to me, like the two flanges have been bent apart, not that they have worn down. The P.O. didn't have the bolt done up very tight as it took almost no effort to undo it. The s.s. slopped up and down quite a lot before I took it apart. The pivot bolt also appears to be bent. It looks to me like the bend is right at the thin section between the shoulder and the top of the threaded section. Its slight, so to be sure my old eyes weren't playing tricks, I put the end of the threaded section in my drill chuck and spun it. There is definitely a bend there as the head wobbles about 2.5 mm off centre I'd estimate. The arm of the stand has a bend in it too but I think that is actually cast into it. I have confirmed it looks similar to the one on my other bike. So what to do, what to do? I am tempted to put the pivot end of the stand in the vise and squeeze it till the flange gap closes to a uniform 9.5 mm. Then re install, with some grease, and reef the bolt down tight and lock it up with the lock nut. I am aware that this is a cast part and cast iron is brittle and not known for being forgiving in this way. I am afraid I might snap a flange off. Even if it appears successful and I make it through to the reassembly stage, I am afraid that I will have introduced some fatigue in the metal which will come back to bite me later on, likely when parked next to a Rolls Royce or a Mazeratti. Any opinions on this? Anyone got a known good s.s. & bolt for sale? Other suggestions? Thanks, Brian H.
  11. I have removed the two nuts and bottom plug, but the cowling still feels like it is being held on by glue or another plug right in the middle section inbetween where the two bolts came out. Do I just keep pulling? It feels like the plastic is bending so much that it may break. Any suggestions would be appreciated
  12. I have already gotten some great ideas for stops along the trip from PA to Maine this august. Thought that I would start another thread in the favorite roads and destinations section and maybe get some more suggestions. Thanks for any additional info!! Steve
  13. I was looking at the lights on your bike (your profile album). I like those. Especially the ones on either side of the fairing and those under the trunk on either side of the light bar. You don't happen to have a "How to" on that do ya? I looked in the tech section but couldn't find anything on that. If not a how to, at least what lights you got and where from. Thanks
  14. Information for Tail of the Dragon IV/Vogel has been posted in the rally section, Registration from will be posted shortly.

  22. I am not sure what section this should go in since the WTB section I found did not seem to have a new topic tab. So if this is not the right place for it, please move it to the appropriate section. I have a 1987 Venture Royale and need a few items. Most of these were lifted off the bike while at a shop getting a tune up. Rear passenger control module Rider and passenger attachable bags 1 Intercom/Radio volume knob Cassette deck cover Coolant bottle cap (not radiator) Left engine side cover vent 1 engine side cover band (rubber piece holding bottom of cover) Needless to say if anyone has a line on these items please let me know.
  23. Last call for voting for the 2008 VentureRider Rally patch...there have been only 107 votes and the voting ends this Friday. Go to the VR Polls section and vote...better yet, here is the link: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16465

  25. I signed up over on yamaha-motor.com in the "My Star" section. When I put my 99 under the my vehicle section it came up with some interesting documents. One of them what the attached Service Spec. pdf. file. I thought it had some interesting information in it so I thought I'd post it. I think it will be a handy guide for some torquing specs without having to page through the manual. It also has the plug number, some fluid type and capacity info etc. It covers the RSV and the RSTD.
