A few months ago I ordered a set of Barons Bag Slash for my '08 RSTD. I enjoy the sound of them I'm only having one problem. When they shipped the pipes to me they sent the wrong size exhaust clamps. They were stainless and not big enough to cover the gap where the slip on ends and the bare pipe below shows. I called them and they said they would ship the clamps to me. After waiting 2 months the clamps arrived they are the right diameter just still way to narrow to cover the gap. I'm tired of dealing with them. I have a friend with a 04 Venture and his pipes came with some wide chrom clamps. Does anyone know where I can get a set of the wide chorme exhaust clamps. Thanks to all!

Anyone have any idea how hot it gets where the mufflers join the stock pipes? I put some permatex 1B form a gasket on and I'm wondering if it's going to burn away... 400F limit. Thanks, gp

I was just looking at some of the pics and saw PitBulls 83. Sure did like the pipes on it, was wondering if anyone knew who made them and if they are still on the market. I still have the stock pipes on my 83 and would like to get some I can hear.

I've read on here about the changing the exhaust by installing the harley or by getting aftermarket pipes. Has anyone on here ever removed their factory mufflers and modified them as most have done with the harley pipes? Aftermarket pipes are out of the question do to cost. Why can't the stock exhaust be modified as the harley pipes? are they that much different inside? Sorry for the questions, but I would like my 02 to sound more like a motorcycle than a sewing machine , not loud, just a nice low deep rumble. Thanks.....

New looking for direction on pipes
Billie posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hey guys I am here tring to suprise Billie (my wife), I ride a 04 Road Star 1700 (dont be hard on me I love it ) and I bought her a 06 RSTD She hates the teasing about the sound of her pipes (SLIP-ON 3.00" HP-PLUS® MUFFLERS for the 1999-2008 VENTURE and 2005-08 Royal Star Tour Deluxe) can anyone help me get her more sound This would make her so happy and probably get you an active member as well as me alot more garage time (on her ride) lol thanks in advance any and all direction would be great! -
I have to thank yamahamer for not only installing these for me, but for also taping this short clip of how they sound. I did a lot of research and ask a lot of questions on here about which pipes to get...thanks for all your help. [ame= ] [/ame] PS. I was also having a radio issue, which he also fixed.

I have a 2007 rsmv. At first I put on some stock slash cut road king pipes and cut out both quarter sized chamber plates. It ran good and had a good sound when getting on the throttle. I wanted a little something louder so I got some straight pipes that were off a true dual road king. It still runs ok but I can def smell a def in the exhaust. I was wondering if I should get the carbs adjusted. when in fifth it does get a little sluggish when getting on it. Thanks for all the help. Also is there a way to do this at home or is it just better to get the stealership to do it?

Does anyone already run with Harley Davidson Take Off Mufflers, "Slash Cuts"? Are these obnoxiously loud or just a good deep throaty rumbler sound like a decent set of pipes should be, without getting you in trouble with the coppers and their db Sensors? I love the Venture but the girlie sound is too akin to a Geezer-Glide and I'd like to man it up some.. (Ok, too much coffee first thing this morning..) I've seen it advertised on eBay and the utoob clips sound OK but how can ya tell without being there eh? But the price is right.. Thanks in advance..

Just saw these. These are quiet pipes, but when you want loud, you flip the switch and they turn into straight pipes. Kinda neat. Really pricey though. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=N41310

Anyone know if a set of bub slip-on pipes for a RK will fit using the RK bracket and clamps that we normally use for a conversion ? Thanks tj:doh:

I have a craftsman lift. How do you use it on a 84 where the pipes are lower than frame ??? some said you can lift on pipes but I`m not sure I like that idea . I was thinking of wooden blocks as spacers. any help greatly appreciated JB

Is anyone here running the Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boy Slip-On pipes on their Venture? If so.......What did you use for a gasket where the pipes actually slip on the exhaust pipe? I have hunted high and low and cannot find, or even determine, if gaskets are needed for these Slip On pipes. Thanks for any info/responses. Regards...........Boomer

Thoughts on the best pipes to get for a more throaty sound? What are these slipons I get running across on the internet? I don't want a LOUD bike, but I do want a nice sounding, nice idling, can hear it when you get on it sound.

Has anyone put straight pipes or slip on with no baffles? I have purchaced a flame trower kit for my bike but they don't recomend exhaust with baffles so I want to take out my baffles and replace them with a straight steel tube and keep the look of the BUB's. I need to know what size will not hurt my power? I don't want to slow it down just light it up! I think it will be great for tailgaters:shock3: http://www.hotlicksexhaust.com/

I put a set of Road King pipes on my 06 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and really like the different sound. I bought the pipes off of Ebay. I was going to drill them out but decided to just knock out the disk (plate) from the inlet side. Was a little work but not too bad. After installing them I wanted them a little louder so I driller 8 holes in the outlet end of each pipe and they sounded alot better. They turned out better than I thought they would. Fit perfect like the other trend said they would. I had to make a brkt for the back of the pipe to hold it up but wasn't a big deal. So if you want a lil more sound and want to experiment a bit I would suggest trying the RK pipes. I paid less than $30 for mine. I do have the stock ones complete to keep in case I want to put them back on if I trade the bike. Jerry

Some folks here have noted that there is quite a bit of heat buildup around the feet and floor board areas of our 2nd. Gen Ventures due to the placement of the exhaust pipes. I was wondering if anyone has tried wrapping the inner exhaust pipes with the insulation wrap you see on some choppers and sport bikes? I recently read a magazine article that discussed doing this procedure on a Honda ST1300. - Has anyone attempted this? - What was the result of your efforts? - Would there be any potential negative effects? Thanks for the thoughts. MickO

:confused24:Thought I would be getting better gas mileage after Roadhouse pipes and K&N filters(36 mpg). I plugged AIS correctley and bike seems to be running fine. (38 mpg) before pipes and filters and AIS plugging, only 960 miles on bike ??? Maybe need to rejet later ???? Got upwards of the 40 mpg today:cool10: My bike runs wonderful. Syncing the carbs did the trick. Will check mpg several times to get exact reading later. Thanks everyone for your help.

My "new" 06RSV came with the stock pipes (that appear to have had the stage 1 mod done to drill some holes) and also with a set of Baron's Bag Slash pipes. The stock pipes are still a bit too mild, but the Barons are too loud for me. I've been reading on the site about people liking Bubs & RoadKing pipes...just wondering where they would fit sound wise compared to the 2 sets I already have. Ideally I'd like something in between the two sets I already have. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help...this site is great!

Do the stock pipes that come on the bike have any holes exiting the back except for the large hole in the center? I noticed tonight that my pipes have about 8 holes drilled into the back around the center hole (and they don't look very professional). So I'm thinking the previous owner drilled them out to get some more sound. Just wondering...thanks!

Got the pipes on everyone, and love the sound(Roadhouse Pipes - slash cut). Loud enough but not to loud. Very good rumble. Installation OK, just did not care for the wood block and hammer persuasion I had to use. But still worked out good. Have to kinda wiggle them as you go and take a wood block and drive them on a little ways at a time (wood block against the muffler hanger ). Then bolt up and tighten clamp. I also used some high heat silicone on pipe /muffler connection. I then unplugged the AIS and installed K&N filters. Purrs like a lion. I like the Roadhouse, good chrome to the end of slash cut pipes. I did not go with Bubs because I did not like the polished aluminum ends, I like the slash cut. Fuzzy

I hope I made the right decision here you all. I have been searching for 2 weeks now and finally decided. I wanted to hear rumble , but not have to wear ear plugs and wanted the slash cut and easy removable baffles. I think I made the right choice. And for everyones information out there, Dennis Kirk will match prices with anyone, saved me $67.00 by making a phone call to customer service. Also for everyones info, Vance and Hines does not make pipes for 2007 Royal Star Tour Deluxe or any Royal Star for that matter. This came from them after I e-mailed and ask the company directly. I heard that I would maybe have to unplug or plug off smog control ???? I hope I will be satisfied with the pipes ??? James

Hi everyone, If you go to the classifieds you will see my bike for sale. I am not sure how to edit the ad--thus my post here, so I am reducing it further if anyone is interested. If not sold by tomorrow afternoon, it goes to the dealer. I will be selling the pipes and utopia backrest if I end up trading it in, so it may be posted in the classifieds. Send a pm if interested. Thanks, Deerjunky:)

I am currently re-installing a stock exhaust system on a 1984 Venture. When I install the rear header pipes into the head 'stubs' and secure them with the clamps, the header pipes still move freely back and forth. This seems crazy to me, and I am reluctant to continue assembling of the rest of the exhaust system until I can confirm this is OK or figure out what I am doing wrong. Can someone set me straight? Confused in Michigan.....John:confused24:
