1. I have a relay for my passing lamps but I can't seem to find the numbers #30,#85,#86 & #87. It is a 4 prong, 12v, 30 amp relay. One pin has the #38 stamped on it and no other pin has numbers. But if you look at the top with the mounting bolt hole tab on top it reads top left #85, top right #87, bottom left #86 and bottom right #30. maybe I don't have the right relay? Is this maybe how it would be hole mounting tab still at top Top pin #85, Bottom pin #86, left pin #87 and right #30?. Thanks for your help
2. I need some help on the MKI to MKII brake upgrade. My rear swingarm is different on my 83 compared to my 88 donor bike The pin that the caliper bracket slides onto is a different dia. between the two models. The 83 has a smaller dia. pin on swing arm that matches the original caliper bracket. The 88 has a larger pin that is welded to the swing arm, and it matches the 88 caliper bracket. The 88 bracket, when put on the 83 swing arm flops around. What am I missing here. Bracket at top of picture is 88, bottom is 83. Hole is also slightly elongated in 88 bracket, by about .080". But there is no obvious signs of wear or fatigue. Hole is longer front to back than top to bottom. The holes are the same center line distance, picture is distorting this . Gary
3. OK folks...thanks to the help of member Adventure 1943, it looks likely that we will have a great pin striper available at Maintenance Day this year. He is at a rally this weekend and will confirm for sure when he gets home and checks his calendar but he has tentatively confirmed that he will be here. Here is his website so you can get an idea of the great work that he does. http://www.jaybirdcustomart.com/index.php At this time, he is looking at being here on Friday and Saturday so he should be able to accommodate a good number of folks that want some work done. He has also made the generous offer of donating one basic pin striping job for us to raffle off. Once I get it completely confirmed that he will be here, I will post more details about the raffle but my thoughts are that the money from the raffle will be for a charity. Eileen is now volunteering at a couple of different domestic violence centers so I will likely choose one of those as the charity for this particular event. So...if you haven't made plans to attend Maintenace Day at this point, now you have a bit more incentive to do so. There will be at least a couple of more vendors here also. The Butt Butler: Rick will be here and doing a LIMITED number of seats this year. He is bringing his wife and plans to do only a limited number of seats so that he can spend some time visiting instead of working daylight til dark. Mic-Mutes: Once again Bill will be here with his Mic-Mutes. This is a product that I've had on my bike for several years now and I HIGHLY recommend it. It is a feature that should have been standard equipment on the RSV. So....come one and come all. I can't believe that I'm saying this but come early. Though this event has always been a one day (Saturday) event, that small fact seems to have become routinely ignored with people showing up as early as Thursday evening and many not leaving until Sunday morning. But...I'm not complaining. It is always a great time. I look forward to seeing many old friends and making new friends. If you have never attended, don't be shy. It's a fun and family oriented event. You WILL be made to feel welcome.
4. OK everyone. Thanks for your patience with all of this. I had no idea we'd get this kind of response, but, turns out it's good I waited to order because I've now ordered 150 2nd gen pins & 100 1st gen pins. 100 2nd gens have already been spoken for, which was all I was going to order. That's the good news. The "not as good news" is that they won't be in my hands until near the end of October. Here's where to paypal me: bob2006rsv@gmail.com. Here are the prices for the pins (they're about 1.25" wide): Domestic 1 pin = $6.75 2 = $12.25 3 = $17.25 4 = $21.75 To Canada: 1 pin = $7 2 = $13 3 = $19 4 = $24 To Australia: 1 pin = $9 2 = $17 3 = $24 4 = $29 If you don't do paypal, you can send a money order or cashier's check to: Bob Wright c/o MICC - Tennis Office 8700 SE 71st St Mercer Island, WA 98040 Finally got the international rates. Thanks so much for your patience.
5. OK, Folks, here's the update to my earlier thread. These are the pins I'm about to order (100 of each) for all those interested. I want $1.00 from every pin sold to go back to this site so that we can continue to enjoy it. Don has done a wonderful thing for us here. Here are the prices for the pins: 1 pin = $6.75 2 = $12.25 3 = $17.25 4 = $21.75 Please be patient with me as I have yet to order, let alone get, these. Thanks. Bob
6. I'm looking into having the motorcycle & trailer pins made, as I can't find anyone that has them anymore. I'm working on prices right now, But I need to know, If anyone would be interested, in buying them. the company is in the process, of showing me a die cast pin. I will post it as soon as I get it. the pin would be two up on a bike, pulling a trailer. 1 inch tall and 2.5 inches long I'm taking 10 pins.
7. Would anyone be interested in something like this? Guess I should be a little more specific. I'm checking into having a bunch of these made & was wondering if there would be enough here to warrant it.
8. I am in the process of repairing another members TCI and after removing the timing chip daughterboards I find that I need the following chips Hitachi HA1825P 20 pin dip Nec C1251C 8 pin dip Hitachi HA 17902P 14 pin dip If anyone can point me in the right direction in finding a supplier for the above it would be greatly appreciated. Attached is a picture of the TCI with the daughterboards removed showing the above chips. TIA db
9. does anyone have a diagram for the pin positioning for the communication system on the Venture. I need a schematic for the pins to make a new microphone, need to know which pins to use going in to the bike. Thanks guys.
10. Good Morning Everyone, I see some beautiful after market pin striping on the farring of the Ventures. My question is where can those decals be purchased? I really like the look and i'm interested in decaling mine. Thanks
11. I am hooking up an Old Garmin StreetPilot III to my 2005 RSV. I read somewhere on the site to break open the The 5 pin din inside the fairing with the red tape on it. I have it hooked up and the Garmin Lady will announce through my headset only and not the speakers and the radio or CB will not mute when she talks. I figured out the red tape one is the intercom. Does the intercom normally mute the radio when you talk ? Can I get inbetween another set of 5 pin dins that will let me hear the Garmin Directions and mute the music or CB when she talks ? PS No one told me I have to be an octopus to get the light bar back on !
12. Hi Guys Not getting any answers on the Audio Forum. I am hooking up an Old Garmin StreetPilot III to my 2005 RSV. 13. I bought a nice thick luxurious sheep skin (fond memories.. but that's another story..) a while back and was pondering how to lay it on the bike, especially with the back rest sticking up out of the middle.. I could unbolt it, make a hole and bolt it back on but what about an emergency removal or taking it off at night when on the road etc etc.. HMMmm indeeeeed.. While I picking up bolts for my extension block for the highway lamps, I saw they had all kinds of quick disconnect hardware as well.. positive locking ones etc.. you could a drop pin, clevis, or quick pin.. but the bottom line is that its a simple solution, fits tight and quick to remove.. and permits the on / off of the sheepskin.. I'll get some pics of what I'm using once I have it all rigged up with the skin on it.. Black Sheep - Black Bike..
14. I am installing a Garmin Street Pilot III on a 2005 RSV. Where is the other end of the drivers 5 pin DIN connector ? Under tank ? under Seat ? or in the fairing ? Thanks Dave N.
15. Anybody had any luck making an adapter 2 use a cell phone style headset with the existing 5 pin intercom? What i would really like to do is add a headphone bluetooth adapter to the driver and passenger connection and be able to use or cell headsets.
16. Well today we went to the Carolina Motorcycle Rally in Jacksonville, NC and well let me backtrack a bit. Everyone needs to know when to keep their mouths shut, me well I guess I haven't learned that lesson yet. Well maybe I did today. Earlier this week KR asked me if she could buy some more pin stripe decals for her Volusia. I said that I thought it was GAUDY enough already............Yeah I know, not too bright, but I wasn't feeling too good at the time and it just jumped right on out there. Back to the story. Today at the Motorcycle Rally we just happened to park right smack dab in front of a Custom Pin Striping booth. Man what luck. Long story short, Krome Rose now has a REAL Pin Striping job done on her bike. As much as I like to complain, it looks pretty darn good for the price. She asked me on the way home "How's your money look on my bike" again Lesson Learned!! I'm posting the pics, everything on the bike except the Krome Rose and Roses on the rear fender was done today for, are you ready for this? Drum Roll Please. $115.00 I guess I got away cheap for that slip of the mouth. I have a recording of her saying she was never getting rid of the bike and was FINISHED putting accessories on it. If I could only be for certain. The guy did the rose on the take on his own. She/We didn't ask for it, he just did it. The Pic of Krome Rose is when she saw the Rose on the tank the first time. It was worth the money to see her so happy.
17. I have my Computer "information display" out for re soldering and I am photographing steps so others can understand this one better. I had only one "cold" solder joint and it in fact did not look cold to me but what happens when you run too much current through a incomplete joint. I am sure that it's the one for the headlight low beam, but would like to confirm it. Does anyone have a pinout of what pin is for what on the unit? The one pin that needed to be re-soldered was all the way to the edge of the connector.
18. I have an 06 RSV. Does it require a 5 pin trailer plug? I let the dealer install a 4 pin flat plug and when I went to pick it up, they told me I had to settle for either tial lights or stop lights. Can't figure out why they didn't call me before they installed it.
19. How do I find Pin Wall Cycle Parts? Does anyone know the E-mail address or Web Site? I'm looking for a C B Antenna for a "99 RSV. Mine broke off. Also, I know that these antennas were a recall item, but our local Yamaha Shop says that the recall only applied to the first 2 years in service. Any comments on their reply?
20. I posted this in the wanted to buy section but not getting any help so I will post it here I hope that is all right. I am looking to buy a 5 pin handheld mic that will plug into the 2nd Gen plug that sits on the gas tank. J&M use to make one but not anymore. I have been to 3 truck stops and the few 5 pin cb handheld mics they have do not match up and all the rest of the mic's are 4 pin. I would like to buy a handheld mic that works with the 2nd Gen or if someone has a model number of a handheld mic that they could give me I can Google it and buy a new one. Thanks Harry:puzzled:
21. I'm looking for a pinout diagram for a J&M headset. I have an universal headset that has an 8 pin mini DIN connector and I need to have a 5 pin DIN for the bike. J&M uses an 8 pin mini on the headset and then uses a short 8 pin upper cable. Then you just purchase the lower cable that matches your bike so the lower cable will have a 8 pin mini DIN at one end and a 5 pin DIN at the other I need to know what pin goes to each other. It's for a 2008 RSV and yes I know I should just go buy a new lower cord but it's the principal of it just to say I can do it.
22. My '86 venture was missing the CB when I bought it and now I'm integrating a FRS/GMRS radio for an easy (cheap) bike to bike solution. I figured out how to integrate the unit with the bike intercom using the CB jack on the amplifier and the built in PTT switches. What I need to figure out is how to cut the radio out automatically when using the FRS (like the CB does). On this web site (http://www.delusional-mechanic.com/) he identified that the center pin has 8V on it when the vox has cut out the radio. My question is: Is the 8v a result of the mechanism that cut the radio out or is it the signal that is cutting it out?? In other words If I send 8V on this pin to the radio, will it cut it out the radio, blow it up or have no affect?? Thanks Mike

atm

don't know weather this is true or not If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcasted on FOX TV, and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists. Please pass this along.
24. This auction is ending in about 10 minutes, may be your last chance for a full set.........St. Jude T-shirt, St.Jude Hat, and St. Jude Pin. 1 St. Jude T- Shirt( XX Large), 1 Crusin Pin, & 1 Hat. - VentureRider Classifieds
25. OK folks...a while back...I ran across this hat/lapel pin on Ebay. I thought that it might make a nice prize for a little contest here so I started bidding and ended up with it. Now I assume that this is pretty rare because I've seen a few first gen pins but never one like this. It says "South Daytona" "Lions" on it and then "Bike Week 1992" at the bottom. Now the cool thing is that I bought it from a seller in Germany so this pin has seen more traveling that a lot of actual riders. Anyway, it's in great shape. I didn't put a ruler next to it but it's a pretty good sized pin...probably 2 1/2" across. I'm going to make this contest very easy to enter. All you have to do is post to this thread about your first introduction to the Yamaha Venture motorcycle. Whether it was a first gen, second gen...heck even a Royal Star...tell us about it. Was in an '83 that you never owned but always wanted or a new '99 RSV? Now if you don't WANT the pin....enter anyway. I'm sure you can find somebody that would love to have it. The winner will be chosen by random selection from all entries one week from today.
