1. OK folks, I'm going to pull the plug on the group reservations for BBQ at the Moosehead Grill on Friday night. Eileen and I drove up there today and it's just too much trouble on top of everything else we have going on for the weekend. We have to reserve their "Party Room", pay the $100.00 rental, pay a per head price of around $16.00 per person and the "catering" menu that we have to select from is basically the same as what we have already ordered for the Saturday meal. So, basically everybody will be on their own for Friday night. If some want to go to the Moosehead, that is fine and I'm sure they can handle multiple small groups. Some of us usually go to a little place called Scoreboards in LaGrange, about 8 miles away. There is also a small Mexican Restaurant in Oberlin that is pretty darn good and also a Chinese place in the same building. So......everybody can decide where they want to go and everybody doesn't have to go to the same place. Hopefully this is OK with all of you.
2. I was checking to see if there were any members who were VIP members to Wingstuff.com. There is a JMCB-2003-dual set on there for 305 and it asked me to become a vip member and I could maybe get a discount. I was checking to see if anyone was a member and check if I could get better deal. I don't mind becoming a member if I can but don't own a Goldwing so it would not pay for me to join. After this I will probably never buy anything there again.
3. This is good for today only - but the price is right. All you have to do is pay $3.98 for shipping. I thought for that price I would try it. http://wireless.1saleaday.com/
4. This was in today's paper about a local guy doing custom laser etched and illuminated motorcycle windshields. http://www.jsonline.com/business/94886274.html http://www.illumatek.com/ I don't know if he can or will do a Venture windshield and I would not pay that kind of cash right now but it is still really cool.
5. Found this sweet 07 with 932 miles (not a type o, nine hundred thirty two.) Rode two hours west on a Venture came back two Hours east on a Goldwing. Not to cast dispersions but the wing is a far superior ride. It has Nav ABS Air Bag the whole ball o wax. In the color I wanted to boot! Here is a pic of it on the show room floor. Needless to say in debt again. But if you want to dance you gotta pay the fidler. I'm happy with it Had them install a set of kurry arm rests for dawn while we were at it. Now got to go to Tractor supply for more horse shoes.
6. I dropped my 06 off last week to have the clutch basket replaced. Concerns: If they said they replace it and they didn't. If its possible to mess something up (inexperienced mechanic). Is there a way other than riding it that would indicate that they actually changed it out? Or anything I should pay attention to? I do plan on requesting to see the one that came out of it. Not sure what I'll be looking at. But, do remember seeing a picture with a small "g" on it. Maybe I'm to skeptical of dealer work...tks
7. Lots of members have used, out of warranty Garmins, called their support and gotten free replacements. I took a chance based on this w/ a Streetpilot 2730 on e-bay in that the remote works (if you hold it less than an inch from it), but the touchscreen doesn't. I called their tech support and tried a couple things. Nothing worked. All they said was because it is a discontinued model and out of warranty I would have to pay $170 up front. I can ship it to them and if they can't fix it then they can choose to send me a refurb. Not what I was hoping to hear.
8. Don when we pay subscription dues using Paypal, can we go to personal tab choose an option that way paypal will not get any of the money. Would this be a problem
9. A very good person on the website did me a huge favor. When i asked him the price he told me to pay it foreward. That was always one of my favorite movies in high school, and i really like the philosophy behind it. I believe that the whole pay it foreward thing could possibly be a philosophy that could equal up to world peace. So if anyone does something nice for you, just remember, pay it foreward. -CJ
10. If anyone has taken the eyebrows or tank emblems off, I would like to maybe buy them . Will pay shipping, etc.... Pm me if you do.
11. Has anyone done any tests or any analysis on Seafoam versus others such as Gumout or Lucas? I know that you get what you pay for, but at half the price, I am curious.
12. Hi, I have a top box from my blue '84 that is physically in good shape but has badly sun beaten paint and is missing the lock and hinge covers. I'd like to know if anyone wants it? Free to good home, you pay shipping. Can do some pictures if there is interest. I guess it'll go to the dump if there's not. Thanks, Brian H.
13. Has anyone had dealings with the company Bama Bikes off of ebay. I purchased a radio and cassette off of this place last week.. I recieved it and it did not work. Emailed them and they will not reply back. They wanted you to pay with propay because they did not like pay pal. I see why now pay pal will get your money back, pro pay wont. This will be the last time i will purchase anything off of them.
14. The kind old gentleman I bought the camp from I have know all my life. He only has distant family remaining whom I have never meet.I'm two years into our three year land contract his lawyer made. In twelve months the contract comes to term and I must pay the remaining balance in full. It has been a rough couple of years in the market and my plans for building a house down there have been set back. He told me verbally no problem you can just continue to pay me monthly if needed but that wasn't put in writing. Sad to say Friday he died unexpectedly from a short illness.I put a call into his lawyer to see where I stand. AT the moment I don't even know who to write the next check to.One things for sure. I must pay in full in twelve months. Hard to get a loan on land with no house on it just an old camp with no plumping etc.
15. I am starting a new job training dogs for the federal govt March 1 and will be a contract trainer. This was my specialty for the last 23 years as a civilian police officer and am looking forward to getting back to work with dogs. I've done the process where I've registered as a sole proprietor and all the other difficult paperwork. I know I'll need to pay my own taxes quarterly and my wife is good with stuff like that so figuring out what to pay should be ok. What I'm trying to figure out is is there any resource where I can find what exactly I can deduct and can't off the taxes. I'm wondering if I'll need to hire someone for the first year to help with the taxes. This is a five year contract. Any advice from anyone in this position would be appreciated.
16. Looks like MaMamo may be looking for another job. Her employer is selling the business. She has been through this work your way up to be knocked back down scenario about 7 times now. Maybe 8 is her lucky number. Anyway I'm ready to do what has to be done should she be out of work for a while. I know one thing there will be no more take a cut in pay and start over as a cashier. She has been Asst Manager for the last 12 years on various jobs. It's only :mo money:
17. Ok, I am doing a top secret project on the trike with a Chrysler emblem and I am looking for another logo off one of these hundreds of decks that we all have pulled for the gauges. I am looking for one with the beige color in the logo. like shown in the pic. willing to pay for it. OR maybe even one of the badges off the side of wrecked gas tank might be better as it will be a little larger. Thanks. Jeff
18. I need one of the chrome molding strips that goes on the fairing of a RSV. I would be will to pay a fair price for one in good conditon. Earl:thumbsup:
19. Hey Guys, Just couple of updates, where the 1st is that I'm having to go up $5 on my price for reworking seats. It's only been more recently that I've been able to get a good handle on my actual product costs for reworking a seat above what I feel is my cost for the time involved. Most of this is for the 1.5" memory foam I have been using, where I am having to pay more for the sheets I'm using now. When I first started doing this, I was using some foam I had left over from a bedding change and decided to make good use of it. Then I found a supply that was on sale at a reasonable cost, but now I've having to pay something closer to retail. Then there is the cost of the spray adhesive and staples that I use that add up over time per seat. I just don't want to appear to be gouging my friends. And I'll honor my previous prices for folks that I have been talking to recently. But secondly, I have inserted an ad for saddlebag bolts that "Dragerman" so kindly named for me..........Butler Built Bag Bolts (aka BBB Bolts). http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1662 And since I was on a roll, I also made up several sets of the thumb nuts that I designed and have been using for years. I've also given these to close friends that I ride with locally. Both of these items allow you to take your saddlebags and seat off by hand with no tools. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1663/cat/7 I still have to test them out, but I think I can use the same design of the Bag Bolts and build a set of seat thumb bolts for the RSTD owners, so they can take their seats off without any tools. I'll post my findings after I make up a few sets and have a couple of close RSTD friends check them out. Hope this helps, Rick
20. I know it is time to pay up or get out, and I have no intentions of getting out. So, how do I pay? I need to get the dues paid before Obama Care has all my financial records and dis-allows my deduction for VR as "mental health" care.:whistling: Just the idea for the cassette gauges and Ponch's great kit was worth five years dues.
21. I'm giving away the luggage off my 83. Bags are in good shape, trunk has usual cracks but repairable. The side covers are also available, but have the tabs missing. I would like it to go to one place (the luggage) but not required. These would be good if you want to do a repaint. Pay for shipping and they are yours.
22. Hello to all. Just a quick note. I will be starting production again the 1st week of December. I have tried to keep track of all who want cables. I will put up a thread or a classified add and start gathering names after Thanksgiving. We are moving this week and next so I won't pay attention until after that. I don't want to miss anyone so I figure an official thread with a by screen name list will work the best. Thanks so much folks. JB
23. OK I just got done sorting out some parts and here's what I'm trying to get rid of next. I have 2 left mirrors in fair condition, one has rashed chrome, the other has "whited out" reflective surfaces around the edge of the mirror. Both are serviceable and better thsn no mirror at all. $5 each to cover the flat rate shipping to US. I also have a couple of MK1 front fairing frames in good shape. Pay shipping or pick up and they are yours. I also have 2 pair of stock horns. Pay shipping, probably $5 flat rate box will work. 3 pair of MK1 passenger grab rails in good shape, rust free. Pay shipping. I have a ton of other parts I will be getting rid of over the winter. If there is something specific you are looking for PM me...
24. These mugs are now SOLD OUT. I will let you know if I decide to offer them again in the future. I have just ordered 72 of the VentureRider travel mugs. They went by up by $2.50 per mug from the supplier. They actually wanted $5.00 per mug more than last time but I finally negotiated it down to a $2.50 increase. Shipping has gone up some also so the price this time will be $24.50 within the USA and $25.50 to Canada. These prices include shipping. Some may agree and others not but this is the best mug I have ever owned. They claim that they will keep your drink hot for up to 6 hours and I can tell you for sure that it keeps my coffee plenty hot for at least 4 hours. Folks, this will possibly be the last time that I am able to get these mugs. They are a bit hard to find now and even Amazon shows the MoJOE to be "unavailable" and it says they do not know if and when they will have them again. There are a few places that I've found them online but only one place that I've found them that will print them with our logo. So....this may be your last opportunity to get one. I only order 72 because there just didn't seem to be that much interest but a few people really one so I went ahead and got them ordered. They should ship to me in about 12 days and then I will immediately get them out to you. Please start paying when you can. You can pay via PayPal to dk_nelson@verizon.net Please note that there is an underscore between dk and nelson and that the email address is verizon.net, NOT venturerider.org You do NOT need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal. You can pay with credit card, debit card or E-Check through PayPal without an account. I will try to keep you updated on how many are sold and how many are still available as we go. SOLD OUT!
25. Got a call from Neurosurgeon and back surgery scheduled for November 2nd. So getting bike put up and everything else in order best I can to be ready. Will be in hospital 5-10 days and then months of wearing a huge fiberglass brace. Brace makes you feel like a fool it's so big you have to wear it over your clothes with only sweat pants and tee shirt under it. Will have to quit eating to pay all the co-pays. Seems anyone that sticks their head in the door and asks "how you doing" sends you a bill. Enough of this wish me luck.
