  1. OK folks, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the changes to the forum. I have held off because some folks do not use PayPal and had mailed checks and money orders. I think that I have received most of them. Everybody who has paid should be marked now as a supporting member. You should see "supporting member" beside your username in any post that you have made. You can also see it in your UserCP at the upper right, across from your username. If you have paid and are not marked so, you need to let me know today. If you mailed a check but I haven't yet received it, let me know and I'll go ahead and mark you paid and trust that it will get to me. When I make the final changes, probably tonight, registered but non-supporting members will no longer be able to post messages. Even as I type this, I'm not sure exactly what areas will be open for read only but some will certainly be for members only. After the change, any new people who register will get a 15 day free trial. At the end of that trial, they will be automatically moved to the non-supporting group. So, if you have paid and are not marked as such, please let me know today. If you want to pay and haven't done so, go to your UserCP and scroll down until you see "Paid Subsriptions" in the left menu. Click on that and follow the instructions. You will be able to pay via PayPal. You do not have to be registered at PayPal to do so. It will allow you to pay via PayPal, credit card or ECheck. Thanks, Don
  2. Just completed the Jason mod, AIS plugged, Steering head bearings. Will do carb sync as soon as my carbtune comes in this week. Appreciate all those that have put into the tech library on this site. The 12.00 is nothing for this kind of information, if you haven't paid up, DO IT. Best value you'll ever get for the money. Again Thank you for taking the time to document how to do these improvements.
  3. After reading the recommendations for using the 44K over Seafoam, I bought some off eBay. I bought 10 cans and now I'm awaiting delivery, so if anyone near Amarillo would like to try it, I may have a little left over. $12/can is what I paid for it shipped. Thanks, Forrest.
  4. Well Medicare says they MUST give me my money back for the non-working back brace. Says it's in the contract to get paid by medicare they have to take back any and all equipment that is unable to be used as designed. Stayed very calm and polite every time I talked with the brace company, the surgeons office (who they blamed) and Hospital (who they blamed) and Medicare. Since the billing had not went through medicare yet they will also loose the balance of the $1290.00 medicare would of paid them. Medicare told me to take the brace back tomorrow and get a returned item receipt with payment. If they will not do this I'm to call medicare back from there and they will tell them again and will stop all payment to them for ALL medicare claims until they do. Does not pay to mess with Venture riders. Feel a whole lot better. $389.60 for the bike.
  5. This may be my first time of getting burned on eBay. I hope not. I bought a set of chrome fairing hole covers on a BIN bid from a seller named "awfulhaunted" on October 29th. I paid as soon as I comfirmed my bid. The seller posted that there was free shipping on the BIN for domestic shipping. The PayPal totaled in the shipping on the sale so I went ahead and paid the full billing. I contacted the seller the next day and he did refund the shipping promptly. Still kept the item price in full. Fixed, or so I thought. So I waited.. Then a few days later I get a notice from eBay that a listing I had been watching had relisted. I popped it up and what do I see but the same side covers, same pic, same exact listing I had already paid for. So I contacted the seller requesting info on the shipping as I had seen the new listing and was concerned that there may have been some confusion because of the refunded shipping. Got a response that they had been shipped via FedEx......not UPS as stated in the listing. No tracking number was provided. That was on 11/06/09. He did explain that the new listing was another set that I had just got from another bike. Er...yeah....ok.....sure. And I waited... So I contacted him again today requesting the tracking info as I see someone has bid on the second listing. Haven't heard from him yet. If not by tonight I guess I'll have to start a claim on the guy. It's been going on two weeks and not much happening. So the listings were: Item# 300361849 for the ones I bought. Item# 300364426 for the second listing. Look alike to me...... Guess I'll try to put a cork in this guy before he sells this set again. I hope I'm wrong on this. So anybody had dealings with this guy?
  6. I recently got a Carbon One lift adapter ( love it ) and was wandering which lift was the most popular and why. I have a Sears lift that I bought a LONG time ago. I think I paid around $50 for it and it has served me very well. I initially purchased the lift for my GoldWing trike, worked well.
  7. Rolling out tomorrow morning for my first full trip down the parkway Been on it in sections but planning to leave Indy in the morning for a night in Gatlinburg and then off to the northeast. I plan to subscribe here as a paid member on my return and will post some pics of the trip if anyone has interest in seeing them Safe Travels to All Jim
  8. OK folks, this evening I will start moving all paid members from the "Registered" usergroup to the "Supporting Members" group. This will take me at least a few days because I have to edit each paid members profile to move them to the new group. That is my fault as I didn't have it set up properly before I started the subscriptions. Anybody joining now will automatically get moved to the new group when they purchase a subscription in the UserCP but for those that have already done so, I have to do it manually. I would have been well on my way but there was a little glitch and every time I tried to do it, the supporting member lost the ability to login to the site. A couple of you ran into that and I apologize. So now I have that figured out and it just matter of editing all the profiles. Once I get all the paid members moved to their new group, then I can go back and change the access permissions for the registered but non-supporting members. This is all going to take a few days and in the meantime, those of you who are already moved will show "Supporting Member" beside your name when you post a message. If you have paid and don't see that designation, it's just because I haven't gotten to yours yet so please be patient. When I am done, I will post to let you know and THEN if you see that you got missed for some reason, you can let me know. Thanks, Don
  9. How can I tell if my dues are showing paid? I know....probably a dumb question but I meet the specs.....LOL Jerry K:Venture:
  10. remember if you havent paid your dues, the great things this site offers. I just ordered some highway pags for my RSTD. I used the discount offered to members of this site and received 10% off. 10% off of a set of Kuryakyn pegs adds up. So take advantage of the good things the site has to offer. I did and will do it again. By the way, this site was a big reason i chose the pegs i did, THANK YOU for the info!!!!!!!
  11. Folks, if you have purchased a subscription and get a reminder that it is expiring, please let me know. By all means, do NOT pay again. You should only get a reminder a year after you paid. You should NEVER get billed again automatically, I have the yearly subscriptions set to NOT be recurring so it will be your choice if you wish to subscribe again a year from now. A couple of folks have told me that they got emails that their subscriptions are expiring. I apologize if it happens to you but please let me know if it does and by all means, do NOT pay again.
  12. I just finished updating alll the profiles for those of you who have paid your VentureRider dues via PayPal OR mail. Please go to your UserCP and then scroll down until you see "Paid Subscriptions" in the left menu. It should show your paid subscription there. If you sent a check by mail and just recently sent it, then I may have not yet received it but I have entered all that I have received. I'm thinking in about two more weeks I will start making the changes that will restrict posting to subscribed members only. Thanks, Don
  13. OK folks, Eileen and I will be leaving for Boston in just a little while. I will start the radiation treatments on Monday. There will be 5 consecutive days of radiation and then we'll head home on Friday. In the meantime, if you have purchased a membership through PayPal, it should be indicated in your UserCP under "Paid Subscriptions". I think I have them all entered so if yours does not show up, then let me know. If you mailed a check, it may or may not be there yet. I have entered the information for the checks that I have received to date but I'm sure that some have not arrived yet. If you paid by check and don't see a paid subscription in your profile, don't worry about it, I'm sure your check will be here when I get home and I'll get everybody updated then. I really want to thank each and every one of you who have subscribed. Some have gone far beyond what was asked and please know that it is sincerely appreciated. I have been snowed under and have not been able to email each of you personally but please know that your kindness is so much appreciated. While I am gone, please give some thought to how you would like the forum to be handled. There are several ways I can do it now. We can have it open for all to read but only paid members to post. We can have it with a short trial membership but only members can read OR post once the trial ends. We can leave it just like it is and simply add some time of indicator to the posts that indicates supporting members. I am open to all suggestions and your opinions are what count. Give it some thought and let me hear your suggestions. I will have my computer with me and hopefully feel like checking in each day. I don't know what else to say at this point. You are the greatest group of folks I have ever been associated with. This entire ordeal has been and continues to be a humbling experience.
  14. Found this on another site and thought some may enjoy it. This will Mess With Your Head. Three (3)3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30.00. SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM. A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25,SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH$5. ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER$2 FOR HIMSELF. THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $ 27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29. Where is the other $1.00!!!!

    Preferred vendor

I hope I don't insult anyone by asking this loaded question, but I will ask anyway. I need to purchase 3 needle vavle sets (P/N: 4KM-14107-15). I purchased 1 from the local dealer and paid way to much ($36). Is there a preferred vendor associate with this site to purchase from? tx, Bob
  16. Ahhhh what to do ? ? After much thought, I'm staying in Gold Stocks until the maddness washes out. I paid off my " Last Bill " last week, first time in 50 years I don't owe anybody a Penny !!! I wrote that last check, and I have never felt so good in my entire life!!! ( Yes, the house is paid for too, whatever its still worth, I'm afraid to check on that ) Three Cheers for " Rick Santellie " !!!
  17. Hey guys, I have decided to sell a few of my accessories. Here they are, figured I would list them hear before going to ebay. PM me if you are interested. Baron's Bag Slash Slip-On Exhaust Paid $350.00 will take $250.00 plus shipping. These were only on the bike for about a month and are still in new condition. Driver Backrest This can be seen in my profile photo. It attaches to the bike with no modification and can be removed with no tools. Paid $150.00 will take $100.00 plus shipping. Cycle Sounds Speakers Paid $350.00 will sell for $200.00 plus shipping. Google Cycle Sounds and check them out. They work great if you are using stock exhaust but I would not recommend them if you will be adding loud pipes. Here is a link to my YouTube video if you would like to see and hear the pipes and other accessories. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqONccuv7E4]YouTube - '08 Royal Star Tour Deluxe w/ Barons Nasty Boy Exhaust[/ame] There is nothing wrong with any of these items. I have just ordered RK Mufflers, Mustang Seats and Chatterbox intercom units over the winter and don't need these anymore. Also, I have multiple items left off my 99 1100 V-Star I traded in on this bike. One item being a set of Cobra Slash Cut Slip on Exhaust. I will be listing them in the classifieds next time I am off work.
  18. I know for some of you this has been a long time coming, and it's way past due, but better late than never. So for all those 1stGen members who want to sound great as well as look great, here's your chance. Right now we're putting together a list. Details will be posted later. The cost will be $225 including shipping to your door in the US and $235 for Canada. The mufflers will need to be built, so the sooner we get them ordered, the better. It will take a while to get them thru production. Send me a PM if you'd like to hop aboard. Once we get 10 I'll start working on collecting the money and placing the order. The MAC's are being built to order, so it'll take a while before I can ship. The quicker we get 10...or more?? The sooner we can get the ball rolling. LIST CLOSED 1. Saddle_Bag.... Paid 2. 23. OK folks, I have had a number of requests from people who would like an easy way to donate to the support of VentureRider.org and also be reminded of such. Please understand that any support continues to and will ALWAYS be 100% optional. There are now a couple of ways you can help. In the left menu of the forum and the home page is a button that says "Subscribe". This is good for people who do not use PayPal as you can pay by credit card, bank account, or PayPal. It is a recurring $2.00 per month subscription plan. For PayPal users, there is also now a "Paid Subscriptions" option in the UserCP. Just click on UserCP and scroll down to Miscellaneous. You will see "Paid Subscriptions". You can the choose an option of monthly or yearly. At this time, you get nothing extra for helping support the site. Just please know that it is much appreciated. For those of you who have already donated due to the recent server change and even before that, thank you VERY much. You can't know how much it helped. I will also be sending out an email and HOPE that none of you consider it spam. As I said, this is in now way mandatory and whether you choose to help support the site monetarily or not, I am sincerely happy that you are a part of our group.
  24. Well Hello all: I just wanted to re-introduce myself. My name is Sonny, and I live in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. I joined this forum a few years back, to get some information about the RSTD and Venture. Well, after years of wanting 1, and many many MANY slipping through my fingers, I finally found what I think, is the best deal I could have. I just purchased a BRAND NEW 2006, yes 2006 white RSTD. Full warranty, no miles, just built. And coincidently, I just sold my 2003 Honda Shadow ACE today as well. I am hoping to have pictures very soon. And hopefully meet some of you this summer, because I plan to log lots of miles, with my unlimited mileage, 5 year warranty. I am so excited, like a kid on Christmas. Now, before you ask, I will give you the price I paid out the door, after Saturday, when I pick it up, and it is mine, call me superstitious, but I don't want to jinx anything. I think when you hear what I paid, you will agree I could not have asked for better. Just out of curiosity, what do you think a great price for that bike would be? Be serious. It has no extras, just built out of the crate. I took all the yamaha buyer incentives, including this years $1400 rebate, paid cash. And also, what do you think I should spend some $$ on accessory wise? Any other suggestions? I am open to all feedback. Sorry for rambling, and glad to be here!!

    Accidents

Have had 5 bike deaths in last 2 weeks in my area. let's be careful out there, mostly all biker at fault. We all to be extra careful on the roads, everyone knows what we endure mixing it up with cagers on the roads. So not all of them give us the extra room we can use, leave the showing off to the pros that get paid for it. There is no where that we need to be that we take chances to cut a cage off to get to where we're going faster. Enough said.
