  1. I have an old HP Pavaillion computer that the only thing I have done to it is add a memory card. Well, my internet provider Comcast has a free download of Norton antivirus. I decided last night that I would try it and now my computer is really screwed up. It takes about 5 minutes just to download the Comcast homepage. Then, to go on any site, like VR, takes several more minutes. I have rebooted it several times and it does not matter. I am at work now and when I get home I am going to see what I can do with it and am open for any suggestions. I am not very computer literate, so any instructions need to be pretty basic. I need to upgrade the whole computer, but that is not on my budget priority list right now. Thanks for any help. RandyA
  2. Yesterday morning our CMA chapter had its monthly chapter meeting. We had noticed our dear brother Pastor Gary Laird was not present at the start of the meeting. Within 30 minutes we recieved word a biker on a white Harley was down near by and started praying. A few minutes later we were informed our brother was the victim and was killed instantly because a cager failed to pay attention and turned in front of Garys white 2007 Harley Ultra Classic. Gary was a very safe rider, he had full protective leather and a full helmet. Despite his best efforts to protect himself, the careless driver a 1984 Lincoln towncar (tank) stole the life of a worth while individual. No charges were made at the time and the crash was listed a under investigation. His wife, family, friends and church will deeply miss this man of God but so will the patients at the nearby hospice he volunteered at weekly, the orphanges he supported in Mexico will have an uncertain future and so many more community organizations now have a void. I was first saddened and then angered at the local paper giving Gary 5 small lines and yet a cager crash nearly a quarter of a page. When will we cease to be second hand citizens? Sorry guys, I just had to vent and you guys are good at listening.
  3. First of all, let me say that I love My 2007 RSV,but I changed my spark plugs for the first time yesterday, and it wound up being a 2 hour job. It took longer than it does to do my 1996 Mazda V-6 pick up. After removing the seat and draining and removing the tank and the dog bone braces on the front of the engine,it is hard to get enough slack in the coil wires to get them out of the holes to be able to get to the spark plugs. This may be easy for some of you,but it was a pain in the rump for me. I learned a few tricks, so maybe it will go a little faster next time. It took an hour and 45 minutes to take off enough parts to get at the plugs and reassemble and 15 minutes to change the plugs. What a pain!
  4. I finally got my wiring harness and bracket today from Carbon One. The whole Stebel install went slick as snot, and I was bolting my seat back on in under 20 minutes. Thanks goes out to Carbon One for the ease of installation. I highly recommend his products!!
  5. i was driving in my truck though hessville. ohio. when a green over tan venture passed me . it was only 30 out. i waved . he rode all the way west on rt. 20 to perrysburg.oh. it was funny about 10 minutes later a harley passed me too .but it was in the back of a pickup. heads up for the guy ridding a true rider:97:
  6. Did you make it home OK??? Great seeing you today, thanks again for lunch!! You missed Becky by about 20 minutes...
  7. As rumor has it, Taters new puppy was HEARD traveling on the I-90 just east of Syracuse about 20 minutes ago:whistling:.... I can see it now, no ones gonna get any sleep tonight:no-no-no:...PB&J called a few minutes ago and all we could hear is the new puppy crying .... good news is , Phil only has about 180 more miles to go to get here:duck:...man I owe him and Rawhide BIG TIME....
  8. Took it out today, some streets still snow covered. Good to get out for 30 minutes, although some of those minutes were a little tense. http://media.kansascity.com/smedia/2009/12/25/10/ChristmasSnow083_ME_12-25-09_JFS.standalone.prod_affiliate.81.jpg
  9. I was chatting with a trucker this afternoon, and was only able to chat for about 2 minutes, I lost him. would a booster antenna, work, or try something else?
  10. Just finished firing up the scoot and running her for 25 minutes from a stationary position. Outside temp is 39F. The scoot is sitting on an incline with the front end higher than the rear. Within 2 minutes of starting her I notice WHITE SMOKE wisping off the exhaust pipe for the RIGHT REAR cylinder as I am sitting on the bike. I thoroughly checked everything around the area of that right rear cylinder and I see nothing to indicate what is the source of this white smoke. I have never encountered this specific problem on the scoot before. There is NO evidence of oil or coolant leakage anywhere on the engine or around that particular cylinder. I ran the bike warm enough so that I could hear the fan running a few minutes before I turned off the engine too. Yes the bike is still under Warranty but getting it to the Dealer at this time is not a viable option due to all the snow and ice I'm dealing with here. Any idea's ....comments....suggestions? Boomer.....who's really baffled by this problem!!
  11. So it was 25 degrees when I left the house this morning. Dang it was cold. Bike started no problems in the garage, but got me to thinking when I leave work, how cold is too cold to get it started? I have had a couple of times where it started ok, but idled very low for a few minutes (at full choke).
  12. I have a 2 cycle leaf blower that I haven't run in 2 years - it starts just fine but wants to shut down after a few minutes - perhaps Carb cleaner ?? it has fresh gas mixture with some of the OLD gas. screwed up didn't I ??
  13. This is completely unrelated to motorcycles but this family is so helpful to others I thought I'd give it a shot. I have a 2001 ford focus zx3 (2 door hatchback). Its been missing at idle to the point where it will quit running once in awhile. Changed plugs, nothing. Changed wires, nothing. Changed ignition coil, nothing. When you start it it runs fine but once it warms up it acts up. For instance I get in car for work and drive 5 minutes. Stop at office to get paperwork and back out to car. Jump in drive another min. and then it starts this problem. Or I can start car and let it idle for ten minutes and it starts doing this. I just unplugged the oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold and it ran rough for another two min. and then idled fine ever since. It's been doing so for at least 15 minutes now. So question number one. Does the oxygen sensor only tell computer when something wrong? Number two. If unplugged doesn't computer really think somethings wrong and turn a check engine light on or something? Thanks in advance.
  14. One of my co-workers has a Suzuki 900 and we ride home together each night because both of us live on Camano Island and work 3pm - 11pm. We believe in "safety in numbers", all 2 of us. Temps are now in the mid 40's for a couple of hours before we get off work. Anyways here's the question: How long do you warm up your bike before you take off? He says it needs to warm up for at least 5 minutes to allow the oil to circulate. I say that's too much. I figure it should only take a couple of minutes at the most. silverdeer
  15. Havent gotten around in getting a tri-pod yet The clouds just cleared up and I took this photo 5 minutes ago with the help of the members suggestions
  16. http://picturesI would like to take a moment to thank EVERYONE that had anything, in any way, to do with the International Rally and the raffling of the trailer. It is an honor to be this year's recipiant of the grand prize. I got the trailer home from Des Moines IA late Wednesday night and finally got to take some pictures of it yesterday. (I will post them after lunch.) I can not say enough about the people at Thomas Bus Sales in Des Moines. They were wonderful to deal with and very professional in thier actions. I got to pick out the trailer I wanted and they had it prepped and loaded in 15 minutes. We were back on the road headed to Ky in less than 30 minutes total. I am looking forward to loading it up and heading out to the mountains when I return from work in late Sept. The Warden has already picked us out a location to go down in the Smokies... :dancefool: Again, Thank You to everyone that made this possible,, And ECK,, sorry about your luck man..LOL
  17. Here are a few photos from our ride to the Dragon today..... http://s586.photobucket.com/albums/ss304/midrsv/Vogel2/ It was a great day and only about 10 minutes of rain. Dennis

  19. To make a long story short; Yesterday I received an e-mail from Garmin telling me map updates were available....When I went on their site it offered an update disk for $69. or a lifetime update download service for $119. Sounded like a good deal so I took it... The download took over 6 hours on a high speed DSL Then I tried to open the downloaded file which proceeded to grind in the background for 45 minutes totally blocking all attempts to stop it - I thought I had just gotten a virus !!!! I ended up doing a cold boot by turning off the power !!!! After another round of the same I put the download in the trash and deleted it. I then sent 2 e-mails to Garmin explaining the problem and asking for an immediate refund - both as a reply to the purchase confirmation and on the "my garmin" site as a customer service complaint. Today, having received no reply, I called them -the call took well over an hour!!! In the end, the best they would do is promise a refund in "two or three billing cycles" !!!!!!! Needless to say, I unloaded on them the problem of constant freeze-ups and resets by battery removal !!! NO SOLUTION !!!! I asked how they could expect someone to dedicate 6 hour dowloads two or three times a year - NO ANSWER, but the person confirmed that just to open that file on Windows Vista it would take over 1/2 hour!!!! Wow!!!! on mine , it went past 45 minutes and was still going, and I have a fast machine !!!!! So folks, I don't know about you- but I am through throwing money at Garmin and tollerating the bad service and nonexistant response. I don't do business with companies that don't care for their customers.... Next time it's another brand.......
  20. Sorry about the few minutes of downtime this morning. Seems that we exceeded our allotted bandwidth this month. I have increased it so we should be good for a long time now.
  21. The temps were in the upper 70's yesterday so a buddy and I ended up doing a 300+ mile loop. Since I am wanting to get an RSTD for a daily rider, we stopped in at the dealer in Hattiesburg,MS. They are probably the largest multi-line dealer in a few hundred mile radius. They just finished an addition that has them up to 42,000 sq ft. And they have just started on an addition for the service department. BUT, not all is well. My buddy and I are both 50+, we ride up on my '07 Venture and his '06 Wing. We look around for about 10 mins then I decide to price an RSTD. After 10 more minutes No one has approached us. In fact they are more interested in the teenager and his gf looking at the Raider. At one time there were 6 sales people standing around talking. I finally walk over and ask if there is anyone that isn't too busy to work up a price for me. I show him the one I'm looking at and ask for his best price for a cash deal. He says it will take him about 10 minutes to speak to his manager and then work it up. (The bike is an '08 and has a tag on it with the ' 08 MSRP and another for a $500 rebate) He finally comes back and shows me the figures. It's MSRP less the $500 plus the dealer fees and taxes! And he presented it like he had just cut me a huge deal! LOL Before the current economy, when I was looking to buy my Venture, every other dealer I spoke to was cutting an average of $2000 off of MSRP. I don't know, maybe this dealer can get away with a few hundred bucks off of MSRP but no one else seems to be able to.
  22. Just purchased an 03 RSV with 13300 miles. Takes forever to start when cold runs great when warmed up. It take me 5 to 10 minutes to get it going with the temp in garage around 45.Any tricks or suggestions?

    Just got robbed!

Wife was on the computer and called me up from the basement about to kill me for about $800.00 worth of PayPal spending......wasn't me!! Just got robbed by some unauthorized transactions.....had to file the appropriate complaints....who knows...probably be weeks before I can think about getting my money back. If they could find this lowlife and give me about five minutes in a room with him, I would be happy. Man, there are a&^%$s out there that get pleasure out of ruining someone's day.
  24. Well, gals, give me your input on this? Do you agree? I had a good laugh, and feel like its a thumbs up....sherry 9 WORDS WOMEN USE (1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up. (2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house. (3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine. (4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It! (5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.) (6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man.. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake. (7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' ... that will bring on a 'whatever'). (8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying "whatever" (I deleted the cuss word ) (9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.
