  1. Hello, I have a friend that owns a RSV 2007 and want to lower the back end, is there anyone on this board that knows the lenght of the links required to lower the bike? Many thanks,
  2. Not sure if anyone else is getting these or not but I've received 2 e-mails from appears to be Paypal. Something about someone was using my account fraudently. Both e-mails were very professional in appearance with none of the typical misspellings when it comes to phishing e-mails. I didn't hit the links but e-mailed paypal directly from their website. They responded back very quick saying that the e-mails were indeed fake and they were aware of them and are working on them. Just a warning here.
  3. I have deleted the three posts with links to the forwardon websites. I think that most of us were getting security warnings about viruses or trojans when clicking on those links. They were posted here by a longtime member and so I'm absolutely sure it wasn't done with malicious intent but just one of those things that happen sometimes.
  4. Okaaay here is the question. After pricing tires with mounting, when I came out of shock I decided to order the tires (E-3's) on line. Now my queestion is do any of you folks in the Houston area know anyone who mounts the tires. I am going to get brave and take the wheels off myself, the links on the forums seem to suggest that it is possible even for a non-mechanic like myself. The best ptice I was quoted was $442.00, OUTRAGEOUS.
  5. I like to use subscriptions to threads to bookmark ones that I like, and to be notified when replies are made. My question is about the mysterious Subscribed Articles and even more mysterious Subscribed Journals on my Home Page. All they ever do is tell me "There are no subscriptions." What is their purpose? Why can't they take me to my Subscription List so that I don't have to go via my User Control Panel? To be honest, that usually takes me a while to remember where it is. Those "Subscribed" links must surely be important to be so high in the links on the left side. I'm just mystified at their purpose.
  6. I'm in the process of putting on Diamond R's levelling links. Are they supposed to be shorter than the originals? My OEM links are about a 1/4 inch longer than Diamond R's. I was assuming Diamond R's would be longer seeing as how they boost the height of the bike a bit. Thanks for any help. Doug
  7. I just wondered how many people with sidecars on their Ventures have fitted leading links. My steering has been mostly light enough on my outfit with a double adult sidecar has been easy enough, even with a big trailer in tow, but on very long tours it's tiring and I'm not getting any younger. I've had leading links on other outfits and it makes for a much easier ride, as well as lighter steering, but at the expense of a handlebar heavier wobble at THAT speed. You don't get anything for nothing, but who else has kept with the standard forks and who has gone with links ?
  8. Thanks to all of you who have been busy submitting your favorite restaurants for the rest of us to enjoy. I've had several emails asking how you post to those forums. I have now added a link to the forum header for you to click on and be taken to the "forms" page. There is also a link under the "Quick Links" menu in the second menu bar at the top of the forum. So, just click on either of those links and then choose the form for the state or province where the restaurant is located.
  9. Howdy all - Those of you who put the leveling links on your RSV and ride 2-up - did the leveling links increase the wind buffeting for your passenger? My wife loves to ride, but hated the buffeting we experienced on other bikes we've owned. Without the links, she's loving the Venture. Will she love it after I install the links? Thanks!
  10. Leveling Links are. --------( S O L D )--------- (and shipped) I have decided to add these to my list for sale (forgot about the links), when I pre-sold my air shock a couple days ago. I tell you that I am so glad that I purchased these last year made all the difference in the world on how my bike handled after the install. http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=Leveling%20Link%20Kit For $65.00 Shipped. The only things that I have left is the rear fender, rear tail light, Almost new rear tire. complete rear wheel Assembly. (click my handle for a pm or my email) Thanks, Jeff
  11. Bought the bike used and thought of installing the Leveling Links. How do I tell if the links have already been installed? Haven't ridden any other 2 gen's, so I have nothing to compare it with.
  12. I'm a new owner of a 2008 Venture and after reading all the threads on the leveling links, I decided to order a set from Diamond R yesterday. Is there any problem with Yamaha honoring the warranty with this slight suspension mod? I didn't see anything mentioned, but was just wondering if it could be an issue. Great site, I've learned a ton in a short period of time, thanks for any responses. Smith
  13. This one is really rampant right now. I've personally received the email almost every day for the past week. If you receive it, do NOT click on any of the links to open them. http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/fbi-facebook.asp
  14. now i'm really confused. purchased 07 RSV right off the showroom floor - zero miles. after reading several threads - ordered the Diamond R leveling links. finally got around to installing them this afternoon - for the trip to Rogers. sonofagun - i thought the Diamond R were supposed to be longer than the stock links. but they're not. Factory link is 6 3/4" center holes and 8" long - Diamond R link is 6 5/8" center holes and 7 3/4" long called a riding buddy who bought the RSV next to mine in the showroom - knew he swapped the dogbones some time ago. he agreed that the Diamond R were about an inch longer than the stock ones. i'm confused.... any thoughts???? note: i've ridden this thing 35k miles in the last year. it has not been out of my sight except for service ...
  15. Is the MT90HB-16 same as the 130/90-16? or close enough? I maybe jumping ship from the Metzlers to the Avons, but I still want the narrower front, I like the responsive feel of that combo with my leveling links!
  16. Greetings, I found a site that had clear tail light lense for the Venture but listed 99-04 models. Were the later years different? I have an 08. Links always helpful. hh
  17. I am getting ready to purchase new Avons for my Midnight 05 RSV. I have the leveling links installed and have read a lot of the threads that say go to the smaller front Avon to improve the handling. My question is if I already have the links and the the bike handles great does buying the smaller front tire make a difference in the handling? Moakster
  18. I bought the Diamond R leveling links and they came in over the weekend. me and my Buddy put them on last night. Yes they make a big difference at slow speeds and cornering. i have 1 comment and 1 question. 1st comment, We didnt need to lift the bike. what we did was use a floor jack and put it under the bottom of the shock mount (i think that what its called). to relieve the pressure of off the shock. Then unbolted and removed and replaced the links. It took 45 minutes to do and 20-30 was figuring if we indeed had to lift the bike. All worked out good though. 2nd the question, the instructions said something to the effect of links bolt torque at 36 ft lbs but their it also talks about the top of the shock bolt. can sombody clear this up? Do both of the link bolt torque to the same 36 lbs? Thanks and to anyone wonder why the bike wobbles at slow speed either make the link or buy them from Diamond R ( i say to buy them cause then you have more riding time and they do make a quality product) Thank Freebird for the info in the tech library.
  19. Hi everyone, hope your winter was special, Yeah Right. Michigan , well stunk, I can only imagine our Minnesota brethren's. Yikes or Wisconsin. Anyhow down to the Brass Tax , I need the links to our preferred business links we used to have the (brake pads., back rest, clutch suppliers) . We had a link to an ohio based dealer whom I purchased pads an Harley License plate bracket from with good results. I might have winter brain damage but cannot seem to find those links. Any help is much appreciated in advance, also the Avon Venom new tyre codes for the smaller front tire , rear tire combo. I just want to make sure by checking with the Group. Thanks in advance.
  20. Any suggestions as to where I can buy leveling links for my 2005 RSTD. Diamond R has them for the Venture but I don't think they will work on the Tour Deluxe. I am looking to lower my bike about 1". Any help would be appreciated.. " KEEP THE RUBBER SIDE DOWN"
  21. This may rate as the stupid question of the day. Do I need to take the Bags and/or rear tire off to replace the links?
  22. I find this kind of interesting. Developed for the European market. Take a look at the links. Found this when on another search. Different than what they are marketing here. http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/home.jsp?locale=nl_BE http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2006/10/10/new-harley-davidson-xr1200/#comments
  23. The time to replace the tires on my bike is drawing near. I have decided to use avons. I have installed the leveling links on my bike. Should I use the 130/80/16 front or use the 150/80/16? The bike handles great now with the links. Would the bike handle any better with the 130 installed. Any advise would be appreciated. Dan
  24. I need the piston and crank set of Yamaha r1..here the price is very expensive and very rare...and i dont have much time to search it..so if u have links or anything please do forward it...
  25. When it was time to change my front tire I ordered the smaller front tire. At the same time I ordered a set of leveling links. Now my question is, can I use the leveling links with the smaller front tire? Or do I stay with smaller front tire or go back to stock front and use leveling links? I thought I read on here that someone said it was not good to use both. Thanks, Dale
