  1. Hey, it was a hot day. Pics from the gifting of the jacket.
  2. Thinking about a new Jacket. Was just eyballing " on line " the TourMaster, Transition Series 2 Jacket. Anybody out there useing one of these ?? Any comments as to quality etc. etc. most appreciated. Thanks
  3. Our weather over the past couple months has been nothing short of CRAPPY! http://www.theprovince.com/Weather+woes+Grim+news+starved+Lower+Mainland/3105672/story.html I got more riding days in during Feb and early March than I have since. Couple days in April and another day or two in May but for the most part, it's been considerably cooler than normal and almost always cloudy and rainy. Saw the sun for a little bit last evening and again this morning. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were almost a constant drizzle. It's really getting depressing! Can you imagine having to wear a winter coat or a warm jacket and a hat for 7 month's straight with maybe 1 or 2 days where it's warm enuf to shed them for a few hours? I think I will feel naked when I can come to work without wearing a jacket! LOL
  4. I dunno, maybe it's age (45), or the cruising nature of the venture but I find year by year I am more worried about functional equipment and less worried about how cool I look. Case in point, I just bought a Tourmaster 2 Pivot jacket, it's not leather. See it here: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A6U9R2/ref=oss_product]Amazon.com: Tour Master Pivot Series 2 Jacket - Small/Yellow: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21sOC3lOcXL.@@AMEPARAM@@21sOC3lOcXL[/ame] I got the yellow one. I've been wearing my reflective vest in the early predawn trips to work, over my leather jacket. But I want to be more visible all of the time. I mostly wear a full face helmet, switching to 3/4 white on warmer days. Always wear a helmet. I just bought my first two pairs of Kevlar lined jeans and khakis (sliders and I love em). But, I'm still an avid snowboarder so, I hope I'm growing up, not old! Maybe it's the pilot in me (hang-gliders mainly) that knows, "there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots...
  5. My wife's Yorky really wants to go riding but he is now around 10 lbs and won't fit in my jacket. When is was a little pup I would put him in my jacket and away we would go. I have a venture R/S. Thanks.
  6. Can anyone here comment on the Yamaha "On Tour" jacket and or pants? I'd like to know what temperature range they will be effective in and any general comments about them. I have not been able to locate them at any local dealers to take a look at them in person.
  7. well im in need of a new jacket and helmet. i want to be seen.as much as possible. im thinking of a white helmet but not sure of the jacket. i want to go with a look that almost makes me look like a motorcyle cop. and be legal. i have a shoie helmet but its over 9 years old. and fell and hit the bedroom floor from a height of about 5 feet. so i just dont trust it no more. as for a jacket somone thought they need mine and helped them selfs to a old black one i had from like 10 years ago. im sure if i look at the local pawn stores it would turn up there. due to good food it wouldnt fit now anyways. so if any one has a jacket and helmet they would be willing to sell let me know. im a big guy weight wise 245 lbs size 46 waist. not sure of my chest size. ii wear 2 xl t shirts if that helps. my helmet size is xl. any ideas where to look for this gear?
  8. I purchased 2 yamaha venture jackets. One fits fine the other is too small for my wife.It is an x-small jacket. Wife thinks it would be a size 8 for women. It is a dark brown with light brown strips on the sleeves. Its a wind breaker type jacket. It is a old jacket but in good shape. It has venture on the front of the jacket and a yamaha tag inside. If anyone is interested let me know. Pay the shipping and it is yours. I will try to send a pic if i SORRY ITS GONE ALREADY
  9. I'm going to have to buy riding gear for my new passenger and will probably get something new for myself. I have a leather jacket and chaps. The jacket is too heavy for summer. Neither give good rain protection. I'm wondering about your opinions on the differences between leather and some of the fabric garments available concerning protection, comfort, warmth and cooling, weight, etc. Mel:Venture: UPDATE: I have ordered Scorpion Hat Trick jackets from MOTORCYCLE-SUPERSTORE.COM---MSRP $229, I ordered Black/blue on sale @$149 with free shipping. I made my decision after visiting two dealers, trying on different jackets and comparing features, quality, price, etc. These jackets are three layers with the inner two able to be individually removed. FWIW
  10. I was wondering if the charging system can hold up to a pair of Gerbing heated jacket liners? Anyone using 2 of these jackets with their RSV? comments?
  11. I just received my Cortech leather jacket from New Enough. These guys are a class act. I ordered a large size which turned out to be too small. I returned the jacket and re-order an X large. I returned the large, got the shipment and my credit for the return all within one week. These folks kept me posted via e-mail all week so I knen when they shipped the orginal, re-shiped the correct, when they received the return and when my credit card was creited. WOW---Great service and the Jacket is really nice.

  14. Spent last evening in the garage installing the wiring for my newly acquired heated jacket liner, gloves, and dual portable remote on my VR and Ultra. If you saw an earlier post which I asked for input from all the heated gear users here, I ordered from http://www.warmnsafe.com/ I rechecked my connections this morning and went for a little ride towards Altoona, PA. ended up a 107 mile round trip on the Ultra. The air temp was 43 degrees as measured by the gauge in my fairing. At 70mph on RT99/220 I was chilled, turned on the jacket liner to full power and within several minutes I was too hot. Turned the knob slowly to 1/8 power and results perfect , with my feet out on the highway pegs, I was comfortable. The gloves at 43 degree where to warm when powered on even with the adjustment knob at the lowest setting. So they should be perfect when the temp drops some. The great part no bulky clothing. I was wearing a long sleeve t-shirt, heated liner, and leather jacket, chaps, 3/4 helmet with shield up. My riding season has just been extended! Now to take out the VR and see how the charging system handles the added electrical drain. Looking back, I should have made this purchase years ago....thanks again for the responses Regards Dave
  15. I found this website today which shows how riding jacket air bag technology works. I have heard very few comments about this type of riding jacket nor have any direct experience with this jacket. The technology seems very interesting but I wonder about reliability. The technology appears to be the same technology used in the old style buoyancy compensator used in scuba. I know from my scuba diving days however, the CO2 cartridge was not considered reliable in the old style buoyancy compensator (BC) which is why the new style BC's do not use them anymore. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this jacket or technology? Has anyone seen any reviews or product testing for this jacket? http://www.crashbounce.com/howitworks.asp

    Leathers

I am in the market for a solid leather jacket. I hear that a leather company called Fox Creek makes an outstanding jacket. They are pricey tho. Anyone use one or can tell me one way or the other about their quality. Thanks Nevada Max
  17. Now that we are into 90+ degree weather here all ready ( Florida ), I don't have a good light motorcycle jacket to wear. I have several motorcycle jackets, leathers, and mesh, but none of them seem to carry well in the bike. They take up allot of room when not using them. The mesh jackets work great, but with all the armour inside, there hard to fold up. Even with them removed, there still bulky, take up half my saddle bag I was out riding for Little while tonight, and this Harley rider was getting gas at the same time I was, and He threw on a light HD Motorcycle jacket. It was perfect, he pulled it outta his saddle bags, and I could tell just from the material, it was probably fleece inside, and a light material outside, or something like that, and it looked comfortable, and was rolled up nicely when he removed. HD always seems to have nice appeal, all though it's expensive Any suggestions for an all around light weight jacket, for carrying around in the summer time, to throw on maybe on a chilly night while out riding? I ALWAYS carry my heated vest, so If the temp drop down into the lower 60's at night, I could throw the heated vest on low, under the jacket Thanks for your help. Seems I have a ton of jackets, but there all to heavy to carry for here in FL for just a throw on when it gets chilly at night
  18. I bought a Firstgear Jacket off of fleabay, I thought it was the Killi model and would have been happy if it was, But it turned out to be the next step up jacket. It retails for $400.00+ bucks. I got it for $90.00 something with "cashback" from microsoft. Jacket is well made and has all the vents and pads I wanted. The back padding is weak, but they say it works. The pocket system is a bit over the top, but I'll make use of some of the matrix of stash pockets. If its above say 36 or so you don't need the liner/jacket. Below that your cozy down to 25 or so. Thats the coldest Ive been in so far. Water seems to be repelled pretty good. It has alot of velcro on it to seal things up. Its a hassle fighting the velcro but it works good keeping the air and wet out. The Killi and this jacket look to be very good 3 season jackets all year for some. You can find both of these on the web for around $100.00 bucks. I recommend either one.
  19. If any of you big guys need a jacket, I just placed a Fieldsheer High Temp 4XL jacket on Ebay, item number 120409437170. It is a mesh jacket that has very good air flow in warm temperatures and has a warm, waterproof liner that can also be worn alone as a jacket. With the liner in it is very comfortable down into the 20's. The jacket is in perfect condition and has been used very little. 20. Hey guys, I have this super nice Leather Gallery buffalo jacket listed on Ebay - it is a very comfortable, nice jacket - even has the Yamaha & Venture Rider pins still on it! Also listed in classifieds here on this site. Beautiful, very soft men's buffalo leather jacket, size 4XL, by Leather Gallery. I bought this jacket 3 years ago and paid over $300 for it. It has the Thinsulate zip-out liner, front and rear zippered air vents, zippered cuffs, expandable sides, extra elbow padding and kidney padding in the rear. It is a great jacket - very warm. I wore it on a winter motorcycle trip to Gatlinburg, TN 3 years ago and a winter motorcycle trip to Helen, GA 2 years ago- that's it. Worn a total of about 12 days - it is in near perfect condition. At the time I was 380 lbs. and wore a size 58-60 jacket. I've lost over 200 lbs. in the last 15 months and the jacket is just way too big for me now (now wear a size 48 jacket). The only thing wrong is the zipper pull on the left cuff zipper is missing - that's it. It has always been stored in a garmet bag in a cedar chifferobe when not worn. You will not be disappointed in this jacket.
  21. I saw a Mid Night Venture heading North on M-24 in Lake Orion Michigan Saturday morning at 9:15 am. 21 deg. On the back of his jacket was U.S.M.C with the date underneath. Anybody from this sight? Sure was a nice week-end.
  22. I am selling my wifes jacket on Ebay. It is a really nice coat for somebody a little longer waisted than her. Bids start at $100. Buy it now for 140.00. Jacket was over 300.00 originally. She only wore it 3 times. Only once riding. Coat didn't sell. Still available.
  23. just kicking the idea around for wet weather gear and was looking for opinions. I know how varied the opinions on this site are, but still willing to risk it. AS I dont have any gear with body armor yet I am thinking of getting a 3 season jacket and pants set with body armor. Either that or use Frogg toggs over my leather gear that I presently own. Chaps and jacket no armor. All opinions are welcome as my mind isn't made up yet. Thanks for any input in advance. David
  24. OK, went for a 2 hour ride on the Death machine, just got back. 42 deg. F, today, and some sunshine. Mainly to test the New TourMaster jackt, on the bike with not much windshield. Anyway, I'm very happy with the New Flex 2 Jacket, Stayed comfy, for 2 hours, and No heated vest, at 42deg. , I guess pretty good.
  25. I recently took quite a skid down the ashpalt road with my RSV on me instead of me on it! Ouch! I was wearing riding (hiking) boots and my left ankle is twisted and the foot is broken because the boot came off. Boots in good shape. The jacket was a $250 classic style cycle of good quality leather which has road rash all over it especially at the elbows. Something still penetrated it and into my elbow. The sewn seams were ripped open on one arm. Jacket trashed. The leather gloves were in the box. I wore instead a lighter fabric glove and my hands & fingers took a beating (better than nothing - at least hands were not bare!). Gloves trashed. The helmet was a 1/2 shell. It has road rash on all 4 sides. My face has 1 small scratch (lucky!) Paramedics cut up the long legged pants - what was left of them. Ended up with major road rash on both lower legs and some on the butt. I will be buying a better boot, new jacket, full helmet that opens in front, throw away my open fingered gloves. What I would like to know if you have any experience with the Cordovan and/or the Kevlan systems riding jackets, I would appreciate your opinion. Thinking of them instead of the leather only because it gets hot in FL behind a fairing & especially in traffic!
