  1. My 01 rsv has a hitch on it, looks like a venturedad one but I do not have a stinger for it. So do I buy one from wally world that is solid or do they make a hollow one like the 2" on my truck. Richie R
  2. Anyone have a Bushtec hitch for an 08 RSV that they would be looking to part with?
  3. I'm hoping to pick up an 08 Bushtec Roadstar trailer this weekend. Now I need to start thinking about a hitch? Bushtec hitches are "pricy"...and not the "attractive".... What/who's hitch do you recommend for an 08 RSV pulling an 08 Bushtec Roadstar trailer? Will the hitch accept the same PIN required for a Bushtec trailer?
  4. What is the best place to get the hitch and wiring harness? Is there a "best" hitch? Saw the postings on the wiring...reluctant to take it on...should I be?
  5. I made a reciever hitch for my bike. Since I have all the stuff to make one, I did. Anyway a friend of mine was helping me, and we decided we needed a reciever hitch cover. He used to demo derby a lot, and had some odds and ends lying around. He came up with an emblem off from a 1964 Chrysler Imperial. It is perfect, and a great idea. It works pretty good. I am not going to pull a trailer, but made a small rack to carry a cooler. I did test load everything to see where to place all my stuff before heading on a trip for a long weekend. Next thing is to test ride it. Here is a few pics!
  6. ok just what does this thing called a bank sensor do? and the boost sensor do.? reason im asking is the bank one one mine looks like its not connected? i see a plug type plug in 3 wires on it red, green. and i think a blue colour? but dont see where it goes? unless some one had a hitch on this bike at one time and its a trailer conector? as this is close to the rear back by the end of the bike left hand side?
  7. Anyone now where to get a trailer hitch for a 2007 RSV for a reasonable price?
  8. Well I've been out in the shop again. We're getting ready for our trip to Alaska and decided we needed a little more storage room on the bike. I made a receiver hitch and luggage rack and bolted on a 15 gallon Rubbermaid lockable plastic box. A couple of LED trailer lights completed the project. Not too pretty but functional.
  9. I need the 2 bars that slide inside the mounts and the hitch. I also need the 2 vertical brackets and U clamps that come up from the chrome tabs. Any one have these or know of a source for Markland parts? If I really have to I can fabricate all of these parts, but it would be a lot easier to just bolt the right stuff on.
  10. Thanx to the help of several venturerider members and the delphi motorcycle trailer forum, I am in the final stages of my single wheel trailer build. The trailer consists of a plastic Delta Truck Toolbox bolted onto a Milwaukee hand truck with 250# rated torsion axle and 8" wheel. It weighs approximately 90# (empty) and is 100 inches in total length (hitch to end of fender). I expect when fully loaded with my expected cargo, it will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 160-180#. The total trailer height is approx. 34 inches and the width is 20 inches, so it tucks neatly behind the bike. I have given it several test rides and it pulls effortlessly and tracks as advertised with the bike. Recently I read the following post on delphi forum: "With all the folks that seem to be building or thinking about building 1 wheel trailers, something came to mind that I thought I would mention for those to give some thought to. If you are going to tow a 1 wheel please make sure your hitch is up to the task. A 1 wheel will inpart forces on the hitch that a 2 wheel does not. Please make sure your hitch choice can handle the twist forces that a 1 wheel applys to the hitch. Most hitches I have seen are made to pull a 2 wheel and may not work safely with a 1 wheel the way they come. Now some may be fine and others may need to be modified a bit to make them safe." I have a Venturedad hitch on my 2000 RSV and after each test ride it appeared to remain straight and secure upon visual inspection. My question to those who have experience pulling single wheels or those with other inside info., is this hitch up to task of pulling a single wheel trailer or what modification may be needed to make it so. My limited knowledge says I am OK, however, I would like the opinions of others with more experience and knowledge on the subject. Thanx, Jerry
  11. For anyone looking! Item # 370353537868 http://cgi.ebay.ca/YAMAHA-XVZ1200-XVZ1300-1200-VENTURE-TOW-TRAILER-HITCH_W0QQitemZ370353537868QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item563aca834c
  12. I am looking to mount a flag pole on the back of my 01 RSV. Now, not wanting to re-invent the wheel, I quickly browsed the forum and saw a post from I think Goose, but his mounted to a trailer hitch that had a square reciever. I have a "Denray" trailer hitch, so its just a bracket that bolts over the axle and is bolted down at the muffler brackets. The ball simply bolts through a hole at the end. Has anyone made a pole with a hitch like this? Please keep in mind, I don't weld,(don't have the equipment). I would be flying a 3x5 flag and probably highway sppeds, 70 or so, possibly for about 40 miles? Any ideas?
  13. This might be a decent deal for anybody needing a hitch. Don't know the seller but thought I would post it for anybody looking. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-receiver-hitch_W0QQitemZ290411848531QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439de52353
  14. I know this has been posted before and I see where some have got them from Venturedad but I wasn't able to find a link for it. I would just as soon give somebody from the forum a shot at it first. Thanks
  15. Need pictures and instructions if anyone has them.Thanks.
  16. I own a Bushtec Trailer with about 10,000 miles on it. Just bought 2003 Midnight Venture. What hitch would be the best for this bike? Of course I can buy a Bushtec hitch but some others LOOK better. Any ideas?
  17. Looking for trailer hitch for 1988 Venture 1300 DU. Restoring bike and found complete wiring but hitch had been removed. Anyone has a used one or source..
  18. Found Hitch Dr. hitch on ebay. here is the item # 280462369881.
  19. Does this hitch look like the correct hitch for a 1985 Venture? You help is very much appreciated.
  20. OK hope I do this correctly now that I located where to start a thread. Bought a used Markland hitch for my 87 VR that was suppose to have came from same ride. Hitch doesn't seem to line up. Looks like you use the rear floorboard bolt and the rear saddle bag frame bolt, Does anyone have this hitch, pictures or an instalation PDF. thanks Trevor
  21. :puzzled:Is anyone using the Verticle Hide A Hitch from Diamond R Accessories? If so, are you pleased with the function and looks? It sounds like a great idea. I was just curious about clearance, how visible it is when the receiver is removed, and how the safety chains would clear the fender. It looks like they will be hooked up and under the fender...
  22. Is Venture Dad still making and selling the trailer hitches? If he isn't, does anyone out there have one for sale? Thanks
  23. I have a new 08 Venture and I,m locating some extras like arm rest passenger pegs trailer hitch... But is there asit Ican get a wire harness for pluging a trailer into RonaldE:Venture:
  24. Driving my trailer across the US and Canada has gotten a lot of attention from people everywhere. One the questions I am always asked is "How does she pull?" My response has always been: "I do not even know she is back there!" That proved true yesterday evening! We where 2 miles from our exit for the evening when my girlfriend pounded me on the back "The trailer has come off" I look in my mirror and sure enough the trailer is sliding down US 101 Pacific Hiway and no longer being towed by mau! I never felt the trailer come off the hitch and if my girlfriend had not heard it come off we would just keep on going. We pulled off the side of the highway and watched as the trailer continued to slide first down the road, then onto the shoulder, and then off into the ravine! I am sitting there wondering what happened? and why didn't the safety chains kick in? and thank God no one is hurt! I ventured down into the ravine to the overturned trailer. Our gear was scattered here and there but the trailer was intact. Upon inspection I saw that the alltread of the hitch ball had come undone. That explained what happened. Looking closer I saw that the bracket which the safety chains were attached to was secured to the all thread. When that came off so did the safety chain bracket. In retrospect I am really glad that happened! I had a clothes line which I attached to my bike and used to body reppel into the ravine to retrieve most of our gear! Unfortunately The clothes line was not strong enough to haul the trailer up out of the ravine. It was funny but I was not really concerned. I mean, it was just stuff, no one was hurt. In situations like this I really put a lot of trust in God! Sure enough within a half hour a man named Jim stops to help. Jim owns a Kal Vulcan. He does not have a rope but he does call someone who does. That turns out to be Dennis and his son, Russ, show up and they have a hoist. Very soon after the trailer is back on the shoulder. I have no way of reattaching her to the bike but no biggy. Dennis and Russ have a 1 7/8" ball hitch on their 4 wheeler, just no tools. They go get tools return and help me install the ball. They both, of course, are bike riders to. Will not accept payment! By then two hours have elapsed! CHIP has shown up, another bike rider has shown up and everyone is helping. The trailer has minor damage at best, scractes and one hinge is partly damaged, and I have gotten into some poison oak. God really does love me. We are back on the road continuing our journey through out the US!
  25. What should I buy/not buy?? I will do the steering setup and am considering a 2 tone paint job. Also want the wheel upgrade. What about the hitch? I already have a Diamond R o n the bike. What about leveling links and lowering kit?? Questions, questions...
