  1. Greetings... Does anyone know of where we can find a detailed listing of the differences between different models and years of the various 1st gens? has anyone compiled such a list? I have found lists of what the various models and years are called etc, but no details of how or what they differ. For example - If I were buying parts for my 89VR on Ebay - what parts from a seller parting out an 88 or an 87 would I NOT want to buy? I know that most of the fairing parts, for example. are pretty much identical - from 83-85 and 86-93, and a lot like front turn signal lenses - are identical in all years. I guess what I'm really interested in knowing is are there any known "this part ONLY fits an 19XXVR and no other year" type of situation. I'm guess I'm asking because I see that each year has it's own service manuals, etc - and parusing them, I really don't see any differences between them!
  2. I am on the fund raising committee for my Fire Department. Last year,we got a deal from a local dealer and raffled off a brand new Cadillac, sold all the tickets and made a bit of money. This year, we decided to do something a bit different. A local collector agreed to sell us a 1970 Chevy Chevelle, 350ci with a 4 speed, fully restored and gorgeous. So I guess I'll be investing quite a few bucks in raffle tickets.$100 a pop, only 500 tickets printed. Might be expensive if I win, gotta build a bigger garage.:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo
  3. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/MD%202008%20-%20cinderella/ for some reason they are in backwards order......guess I goofed but here they are....dont feel like changing them:8:
  4. I guess my laptop is toast. The screen just decided to shut off after about a minute. I started it back up and it does the same thing. Took it to a repair shop and they said the motherboard is starting to go out. I think Ruth is feeling abandoned since I have to go upstairs (we have a desktop in the den) to yak on VentureRiders. Has anyone bought a laptop lately? I mainly use mine to surf the internet, download our pictures, and music for the MP3 player. Guess I need to re-educate myself on what all those specifications mean. I have a Dell laptop that is about 3 to 4 years old. Doesn't the new Vista operating system eat up a lot of memory?
  5. i got jeannie home this afternoon, for three weeks. she has to go in to the Dr.'s office every day, for 10 days , for some kind of injection. i have to check her blood sugar 3 times a day, so i guess i'd better learn how to use her new what-ya-ma- callit! thank you all again, for ALL of the prayers and positive thoughts. just jt
  6. I should of taken more but here they are. I guess I talk too much. (no need to make remarks) Mama
  7. Ron had a surprise for me this weekend. We went to a Harley open house. We ran into some old friends there, who have been Harley owners for years. We wound up looking around at all the new Harleys and went on a test drive. We had so much fun, I guess we got caught up in the moment. The dealer took us in the back of the shop and showed us an 07' Ultraclassic, that had just been repossessed , it was beautiful. It was the two tone red color that we have always loved. White walls, extra chrome and a deluxe CD player. I do not know what happened after that. My mind is a bit foggy. All I know, is we signed up to buy this bike and they took our RSV in trade. I know this is a shock to some members here, and including me too, but I guess you really do not always know someone, even if you have been married for 35 years. It turns Ron has always really wanted a Harley and he decided it is now or never. I will still be on here from time to time just to keep up with what is going on with everyone. I have made what I would consider some good friends here just from being on chat almost every night. I cannot say I am not sorry to give up our RSV, because I really did love it, if it is okay to love a motorcycle. I wanted to come to the Maintenance Day this year, to get to finally meet some of you in person. I still want to come, but I guess it will depend upon Ron. These are the sacrifices I guess a woman has to make to keep her husband happy.

    Nevada rider

Last Saturday between St. George and Las Vegas I passed a 1st gen on 15 so. at around 11:00 am. I honked and waved but he did not catch up. I guess his antique bike could not keep up with the 2nd gen. :rotf: Any one from here? Rod
  9. there is a rubber formed line with a braided appearance that seems to go from the rear master cylinder, it has two clamps, one at each end, it is about 5 inches long, .... mine blew ahole in it today and smoked like crazy, I was just pulling in the driveway when it went, getting the bike ready for ride for Dad charity run tomorrow, but I guess that is not gonna happen now. can you tell me what this hose doies and if I can ride with out it , and how do I get a new on e.... thanks gord

  14. Folks, we have a new member in San Bernardino that could use some assistance. He will probably post but is new to forums and etc. His username is CaptainDave and he rides an '87 Venture. I guess he has some questions about his bike. If any of you are in the area and could contact him via email, I'm sure he would appreciate it.

    Bub's tips

I guess you could call this a "rant", and if it needs to be moved to another category then please do so. My '04 had just had a set of Bub's mufflers put on it not long before I got it. After my first long ride to the Smokies in May '06 I noticed the chrome on the tips was blistering really bad. I contacted Bub's and they told me to send a copy of the receipt, which I did. Then they told me I'd have to send the tips to them for inspection by their "Q.A" dept. and IF they were defective they would replace them in a couple of weeks. I proceeded to tell them that I felt it was totally unacceptable for me to have to sit out prime riding time while they decided what to do. I finally got them replaced after 6 e-mails and a credit card number to charge if they didn't receive the old ones within 10 days of delivery of the new ones. Well,,, guess what!! It's been 20 months since they were replaced, and now they are blistered again, just as bad as before, after being assured that they were no longer plated but polished billet. I don't expect any assistance at all now, but to me it doesn't look like they are putting out nearly as quality of a product as they claim. Oh well, the e-mail's on the way!!
  16. To keep it in a straight line. But 100 ft of inch thick mud was more than I could get thru. Luckily just some road rash and a busted up bike. Weird thing was that 2 horses with their halters still on were just wondering down the median so I moved to the right lane and slowed to around 20 to keep an eye on them. Just as I got past them I saw I was going into the mud so I couldn't hit the brakes or try to swerve. So I guess the lesson here is WATCH for the mud and forget about the horses in the middle of the road... These big bikes will jump right up on them curbs at that speed. Its keepin it on the sidewalk after you get there is the trick.

    test

this is a test...hmmm guess I cannot remove this once posted huh.?
  18. Well according to the dealer my first HD Ultra was built today. I think they are built in PA at the plant that did not lay off. I guess I'll see next week when the dealer said it would be shipped.
  19. I hit the horn and the starter button at the same time and pow, no more power. I guess that was too much for the 30 amp main fuse. Lesson learned.

    Moderators

I would like to thank the moderator who saw fit to remove a rather tasteless joke from the forum sometime during the night or this morning. I have posted a few borderline jokes that I have received through my email, and have gone so far as to copy/paste into the thread and then delete after thinking and rereading during preview. :2cents:I guess that we all have to remember that what some may enjoy, others may not. I try not to insult anyone, or get too political. It seems as most of us do. However, once in a while everyone makes a mistake, and I guess that's what you guys are for. We have a good thing going here. Very enjoyable, friendly, and helpful. Maybe the post last night will wake a few of us up and help us remember that there is a time and a place for everything. Thanks again, Joe.
  21. and there was a smaller one with him.. Better here than on the Highway I always say...
  22. Well today it was my turn to have an accident. I was driving on the Hwy in the right lane about 65 mph and I had a vehicle directly to my left. I noticed in my rear veiw mirror a white vehicle coming up on me fast this Hispanic guy tried to split the difference between me and the car I was forced to the shoulder as he passed it appeared he was beating someone and trying to hold them down in the front seat. I didnt crash from being on the shoulder. I caught up to him and looked at him while I was next to him did nothing else but look. I guess this set him off because he tried to run me off the road at this point. I sped up hoping to get away and outran him for awhile but he kept coming after me. I was hoping he was gonna give up but he didnt. I got off at a ramp going a good clip and had a car in front of me and he was closing fast on me like he was gonna ram me I couldnt go around the car in front so I decided to go off road but this exit the ramp is a raised ramp and much higher then the surrounding terrain. I m not sure what happened but I believe I lowsided after I started down hill on the grass/gravel I lost control somehow landed on my back and right side. I went to hospital to get checked out little bruised up but I'm in one piece and nothing appears to be broken little bit of headache though (Helmet on some small scratches looks like my butt and side took the brunt.) It wasnt worth chasing him down to find out if he was hurting someone else. I'm lucky I guess. Didnt get the plate though. I guess he caused another accident down the road though. My bike is probably pretty screwed up I know I broke alot of right side plastic.
  23. it sure is aggravating, to look up a members ,personal profile, and learn next to nothing about them! i guess it's about personal preference, but hell,WE AIN'T THE F.B.I.! just jt
  24. Just looking at that 97 Royal Star on Ebay with a buy it now price of $3,100.00. And this is from a dealer. Guess they are starting to realize what a 2d Gen is really worth. :rotfl::rotfl: Correction. It is a Royal Star Tour Deluxe. Guess that explains the BIN price
