  2. Sunday, July 07/'08 I was on my way, to a Steve Miller Band concert, when I encountered the parking lot that I-70 East bound lane had nearly become. I missed the concert, "by that much"!>>>>>>>>>>> Wednesday, My phone rings, it's Dorothy, my neighbor and good friends Ex - wife. Martin passed away this morning, His youngest daughter just left, she had been at the hospital, we had a cup of joe. We sat there and exchanged some emotional happenings, I expressed my regrets, for never having said I love you to my friend. I miss you, my brother Martin, your passing has left a void, that will be hard to fill. These past fifteen + years, we slowly learned a mutual, and unconditionally, loving respect, for one another. Thank you my brother, my friend. "Vaya con Dios, mi Amigo", Martin Our lives are but a brief passage in time, those we touch, as well as those who honor, us by touching our hearts in some manner, may have gone on but their memories will be inseparable in our hearts till he takes us home and reunites us once again! 6. A ex work associate and friend, (Paul), that lives in Whapeton Nd. and works in Fargo, about 50 miles, was on his way home from work Wed. morning at about 4:20 am when he hits a dear. he was thrown form the bike and the bike slid into the ditch, while he slid to a stop on the road. Another friend of mine, (Brad), that I work with gets of work the same time as me and he works in Whapeton and lives in the direction of Fargo, and he heads for home, he runs over something laying on the road and turns around to see what he had just run over and finds it was his friend, (Paul). I don't know if Paul was dead from the accident with the dear or if he was killed by being ran over with a 1994 chev pickup. I will miss riding with Paul, but I almost feel more sorry for Brad, I would rather be the one dead than to run over a friend of mine. My prayer go out to both Paul,s family as well as for Brad.

  12. A friend of mine just got new rubber on his Shadow Spirit and decided it was time to go scuff them in, so we took off yesterday at about 11:00 am. It was already close to 60f. We rode up 575/515 to Ellijay, Ga and then took what we refer to as the Blue Ridge Bypass. It's a back road (Boardtown, I think) that comes out on hwy 5 past Blue Ridge. (Here is where I started feeling guilty! I thought "Man, I should've called Brokespur!" but we were already past his place. Sorry Ken, my bad!) We took a left and went up hwy 68, which is a great ride in itself, to Tellico Plains Tn. Grabbed a jalepeno burger at Hardies and jumped on the Cherohala Skyway. Great ride, temp dropped to 51, little traffic, only had to pass two cars the whole way. Just had to watch out for gravel and other "winter debris". There was a surprising amount of snow on the slopes on the south side of the road above four thousand feet. At one point there was a strip of snow/ice on the road that was about 5 feet long. I pointed it out to Gary and watched in my mirror as he proceeded to ride right down the length of it! Proves you can ride on ice and not go down. Also proves you go where you look! After that we rode up to the Dragon, the store is open for the season again. We asked about the conditions on the road and they said it is white from the winter salt and some places have piles a couple of inches deep. Even so we rode it pretty hard, you just had to keep an eye on things a little more. I only slid once on some salt. It was a superb ride up and back. Quite a few people there for a Thursday, but nothing like the weekends. We wanted to do another run but it was already 10 minutes to 5 and we wanted to make Bike Night at Hooters Canton. We were still 2 1/2 hours away! It was the first "Official" bike night, although a friend and I have been going almost every Thursday night thru' the winter, lowest temp we saw was 27f. Last night saw about 50-60 bikes. After Bike Night I rode with another friend to escort a lady friend, that rides a Road King, home before heading home myself. All in all I did 401 miles yesterday and managed to ride to the Sky, slay a Dragon, drink beer, look at some nice bikes and escort a lady home! (I won't claim to be a gentleman:rotf:) Man, it don't get much better!!!
  13. I finally remembered to take my camera out of the truck. Lets see if I remember the names. Thom440 Wild Hair aka Lowell Jim V7Goose and friend..(sorry, but I didnt remember the name) Maineak Animal and Honey Mrs Ruffy Gracie the dog....
  14. Got a 'friend' well I don't know him yet, but my wife is working on that seeing as his wife is a friend of hers. So,,, I got a friend who is supposedly 6'3" and is looking to buy a new (to him) bike. The reason being is that his wife likes to ride with him and the present bike he owns, although he loves it and it's a Yamaha, will not accommodate her very well. So how does a 6'3" person fit on a Venture? Any modifications necessary to make it comfortable.
  15. Thought this was cool. A friend sent it and I thought I would share......................Ron http://community-2.webtv.net/harryswallace/THELIMOCYCLE/
  16. A friend of mine has two bikes. A kawasaki drifter and a swift chopper. He decided to trade both of them for a harely street glide. The harley dealer here in Albany, GA wouldn't take the swift chopper because they couldn't find a value for it. The female salesperson offered to take the kawasaki on trade and gave my friend a price. She wouldn't give him a breakdown as to how she arrived at the price of the harley. My friend went to another harley dealership about 45 miles away that is owned by the same person here. They offered my friend $500.00 more for his kawasaki. The next day my friend called the harley dealer here and said he was ready to trade. The female salesperson in a very rude tone said there was no deal to make. The deal she gave him was for yesterday only so she wouldn't sell him the harely and take his kawasaki on trade. My friend said that was ok but he would get a harley from another dealer. He went to tallahassee, florida and the harley dealer there offered him the same trade in value but was selling him the street glide for msrp which is $19,000.00. It was then that my friend realized that the harley dealer here in Albany, GA was charging $3,000.00 above the msrp. He closed the deal with tallahassee and brought the bike home. That was friday. Saturday my friend and two of our mutual friends asked him to go to the local harley dealer so they could buy him something for his new harley as a gift. When my friend entered the harley dealership he was met by the sales manager who grabbed his hand but wouldn't let go. My friend finally pulled his hand away from the sales manager and said is there a problem? The sales manager said yes, the owner doesn't want you in this dealership so you need to leave. The sales manager said you bad mouthed our salesperson so you are not allowed in this building. About that time the owner came out and my friend asked to speak with him. They were having a civil conversation and my friend told him the only problem he had was that the salesperson wouldn't show him the breakdown she was using to come up with her price. The owner said well you came in here and got a deal and then went to another dealership so we don't won't you in our dealership. About that time the female salesperson came out of her office and started yelling at my friend "you think you are a big man don't you." My friend talkes with this hands sometimes so as he was talking to the owner the salesperson told him he better get his hand out of her face. Another friend was next to him, he is 6'6" tall and weighs 320 pounds, and he said come on let's go, it's not worth getting this worked up about this. My friend left the building and after he was out the door another friend who was still in the dealership said the salesperson said , "we don't need prick's like that in here." The owner finally told her to shut up and get back in her office. I thought I had seen it all but this arrogance takes the award.

  19. Anyone tell me where to find pics of a first gen w/o the trunk?? I have a friend that wants to see it...
  20. I not knocking harleys but just had to tell you all this story. A friend on mine bought an 07 street glide. He paid $400 for a sprocket that harley says will eliminate the vibration. After installing the sprocket the vibration moved to a higher rpm instead of going away completely. My friend went back to the local harley dealer and told the service manager he wasn't going to pay $400 for something that doesn't work. The service manager said lets go back in the shop and talk to one of the technicians. When my friend explained his problem to the certified harley technician the technician replied, "It's a damn harley it's supposed to vibrate." My friend is very upset.
  21. Much talk has taken place here lately about the danger of hitting dear. Rightly so and we should certainly take it to heart. However, a friend and I were riding to Florence, AL from Decatur this past Saturday evening to watch a football game and encounted another hazard, maybe not as dangerous, but certainly not anything you would want to happen. My friend was in the lead, in the right lane when I noticed a hawk in the median of the divided four lane. As he approached it, it took off across the highway in front of him about 2 feet high. He did not see it, until, to avoid a collision, the hawk went verticle right in front of his windshield just missing the top of his helmet. It seemed the hawk then stalled and the turbulance from bike cause it to sink, this time in front of me - at least I was seeing this unfold and swerved to avoid a collision. A 2 to 3 lb bird with a 3 to 4 ft wing span in you face would certainly mess up your day. Food for thought!!
  22. I just ordered a venture dad hitch. Roy said to use a standard boat trailer 5 pin flat rubber connector wiring kit that you can get from most auto parts stores. A friend of mine has a trailer he pulls with his goldwing and said I can use it anytime to get the feel of pulling a trailer before I buy one. I thought this is great. My wife and I are going on a trip next week so this will be a good time to pull a trailer. But my friend says he has a 4 pin connector with a 5th wire added. I also saw on a thread this morning on the hopkins hoppy trailer kit which it says is a 4-way flat connector. What should I do to wire my venture for a trailer. I am confused, however it doesn't take much to confuse me. Thanks.
  23. A FRIEND IS LOOKING AT THESE AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAVE TO JET WITH THEM AND HOW LOUD ARE THEY? I TOLD HIM IF ANYONE KNEW THEY WOULD BE ON THIS SITE.

    My Best Friend

October 17, 2007 was the day I lost my best friend Frank Hija. He was killed in an auto accident Near Port Huron, Michigan while traveling to a friends house to repair a motorcycle. He was a member of VR.Org but did not own a RSV. I have traveled many motorcycles miles with Frank and he was the best man I have ever known. He was one who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. I will miss him dearly.
