  1. I know Veteran's Day isn't til next month (November), but wanted to put this info out there for some planning purposes. If anyone knows of other Veteran's Day / Military Appreciation specials that our veterans (self included) can partake of, post it up here. And, to make it Motorcycle related.... maybe you can manage to ride your ride to one of these events..... Eat Free at Applebee's - Wednesday Nov 11, 2009 Military veterans and active-duty servicemembers will be able to eat for free at any Applebee's across the U.S. on Veterans Day, Wed., Nov. 11, 2009. There will be six entr? from the menu to choose from. Guests will be asked to show one or more of the following as proof of service: a U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, a photograph in uniform, or wearing a uniform in person. For more information about Veterans Day at Applebee's, visit the Applebee's website at www.applebees.com/vetsday. A complete listing of all Applebee's locations is available at www.applebees.com. Eat Free at Golden Corral - Monday, Nov 16th, 2009 Golden Corral's 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide. The free dinner meal is a special "thank you tribute" to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join us for Golden Corral's Military Appreciation Monday dinner. To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 2.2 million free meals and contributed over $3.3 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization. 3. Here are some pictures of the trike I purchased "as is" a few months back. I've put about 700 miles on it and the last 200 have been trouble free, more or less and I couldn't have done it without all the help from the members of this orginization and the technical section. 4. Ok, I am very slowly eliminating operations that could have a detrimental effect on shifting. I am now interested in the amount of free play of the clutch lever. From dead center of the ball at full extension, can anyone tell me the amount of free play their clutch lever has? I measured this one and it measures precisely at 1/2 inch. I simply don't know if that is good or bad. Oh yeah this bike is a 1st Edition, 86. All should be the same; 83 - 93 (Clutch lever free play, that is). Thanks in advance
  5. Go to the Motorkote website www.motorkote.com on the left hand side of the page you will see Steve Sommers Show Specials click on that an your all set. Free shipping an also a Free Hat !
  6. OK folks...I recently replaced my Sunpro gauges on the '99 RSV with a new faceplate from Ponch and a new set of Equus gauges. I liked the off white color of the new gauges better. So, I have a set of Sunpro gauges with the chrome faceplate available to one of you for free. You will have to pick up or make the adapters for the water sensor as we all do but everything else will be there. So who do I give them to? Let's try to have some fun with this. I want to hear your hard luck stories about why you need a set of free gauges. Your milk cow went dry, whatever. Just submit your best FICTIONAL story about how down and out you are and I'll choose a winner based upon what I think is the best submission.
  7. Well guys I just got back from the doctor and the ct scan was clear. I am cancer free. They are going to do radiation treatments to make sure they got all the cells but looks like I will live to ride again. Thank you for your prayers.. Curtis
  8. I have a trunk from an 83 or 84(I think. It's smaller than my 85 trunk) that I'd like to get rid of. It's got a crack on the right side of the lid, and it has been outside on my picnic table for a while now. Missing the lock, and I don't know what else hardware for mounting it. Free to whoever wants it, just pay shipping. I don't need it, I got it when I was trying to find all the parts for my 85. Let me know!!
  9. Did a ride to raise money for a local air ambulance organizaiton yesterday and I was surprised, as I often am, that I was the only Venture out of 100 bikes! Anyways, when they were drawing door prizes they hadn't picked any of my numbers but then the emcee stands up and says "we're not even going to draw this one, it goes to whoever rides a Yamaha Venture!". Sweet, got some free saddlebag liners!
  10. I have a used 1stgen. rear shock. It was graciously given to me by Gibvel, and I no longer need it. I will do the same. Free to whoever wants it. Either you pay the shipping or we make arrangemnts for a relay. Let me know
  11. Hopefully by now most members are aware that Minnesota will be once again hosting the Pork in the Pines Pig Roast over the 2009 Labor day week end (visit www.porkinthepines.com) The guest of honor has been invited, and I am currently working on some of the other mundane issues. One of those issues involves the menu for the free breakfast on Saturday morning. In another thread, Sarges46 mentioned that he "loved" biscuits. This got me to thinking. (I know... really dangerous.) Anyway, I was thinking, would it be possible to include biscuits and gavy on the menu. Would take a bit more work and require that I get up really early, but if enough folks were interested, I think we could do it. So, the question is... How many folks planning on being at the Pork in the Pines breakfast would like to have biscuits and gravy? Right now, breakfast will include Eggs cooked to order (as long as you order scrambled) Sausages Hot cakes (or pancakes) Fried taters Toast Coffee Remember, this years PIP is free for all attendees (A donation jar will be set up for those that would like to make a donation to help is cover the costs). As always, there will be plenty of free camping space... (B ut the choice sites are going quick) For that you will get: Chili social meet and greet Friday night Breakfast Saturday morning Rosted hog with all the fixins Saturday night Free cigars (Thanks to Juggler) at the bonfire Saturday night Breakfast Sunday morning (if I can get a sponsor) Pulled Pork Sandwiches Sunday evening We will also be doing a bike service workshop and Brandi (Crows Nest) has graciously volunteered her bike for a pipe tuning... So, let me know about the biscuits and gravy as the cook (who can get really obnoxious if he is caught short) will need some additional time to up the biscuits.... Thanks to all who have registered to date, and if you're considering coming up this year and have not registered, please do so now to give us a handle on how many to expect. Again, registration can be done at www.porkinthepines.com Or just give us a heads up here. Black owl

  13. I've been using the standard Yumicron battery that comes with a sensor. If I switch to the maintenance free Yumicron, will I have any issue with the sensor?
  14. For those of you who might use the SPOT tracking unit. Thought I would pass along this information regarding the Spot Adventures Site (www.spotadventures.com) which is free and fun. I'm sure the members that bought Spot Units will want to take advantage of the site to share their Adventures with comments and pictures, especially with all the Regional and National Rallies coming up. This can be also fun for local chapter rides. Here's an example of how you can use the site that one of our members did for our Chapter's ride last Sunday with his spot unit tracking: http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view?trip_id=168951
  15. I now have a complete front fork assembly with upper and lower triple trees for a MK1 ist gen, in need of a rebuild. Shocks leak like a seive but it is low mileage parts. Only 15K on bike. Hydraulic anti dive units included. You pay shipping costs or pick up. Also have complete set of MK1 calipers available in working condition but probably should be rebuilt seeing they are 25 years old... Last, a MK1 front fairing frame in very good condition, virtually rust free. If you need any of these things, just PM or call me. These items are free for the asking. I need them out of my garage...
  16. 21. Well not really. But lately I've been selling things on CL all over the US. Listed locally, but getting folks in Fl., Mi., NY., responding to my ads. This may be the new Ebay except it's free.... And if this keeps up, it may not be free for very long. Ebay does own 25% of CL... They gotta be aware of what's going on...........

Well last year i bought a new sirius radio and after 3 days in the car took it out would not work and could not get logged in on the computer to them to listen so turned it off and i have no idea why but it sat in a corner and was not tossed out anyways back to today today i get a letter from sirius telling me they would like to have me back and i can have 15 days free that my radio will work and if id like i can also have an additional 3 months for the low low price of One Dollar Yep thats right one buck! so i found all the stuff and hooked it up to the bike turned it on and it worked WOW!!! allmost through a whole song so i think i will give it a honest try so i went for a ride about 50 miles and yes it worked but not one song finished kept cutting out or stoping and some times it would even say looking for signal so on the way back home i moved the antena all over to try and get a better signal still no go even held it over my head still no sig. so when i got home you guessed it i took the cutters and cut the thing out of the bike and its now ready to return to them with a nice note and im going to call them tomarrow too just to let them know it will be returned and they dont even need to send my money back or any more letters to try and be nice to me offering free service just not worth it even for free SIRIUS JUNK!!! 23. At least until this Dunlop Elite 3 wears out. I bought a used wheel off ebay. They didn't show the tire very well and I didn't care because I wanted the wheel and rotor. Well, lo and behold, it shows up today and the tire looks almost new. I'll run this tire off until it's gone and come back. I can't turn down a free tire. I bought the wheel, rotor and tire for 142 shipped. Now tire changes can be done at my convenience and faster. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37.l1313%26satitle%3D400005069327%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=400005069327&viewitem=
  24. OK folks, this was brought to my attention by Cinderella. Many of us use PayPal but they have pretty much been the only player in the market and in my opinion, have continued increasing their fees to the point that it is getting a bit crazy. There is a new online payment processor named "Revolution Money Exchange". It was originally founded by Steve Case. If you join up now, they will pay you $25.00 for doing so. This is not a scam and if you search for "Revolution Money Exchange" you will find a lot of information about it. I just joined up and within minutes they had deposited the $25.00 into my account. So why is it better than PayPal? They charge NO fees for sending or receiving money. Here's another good thing. If you join you will get $25.00. If you join through the link that I am providing, they will also donate $10.00 to my account to be used to support VentureRider. It's a no loose situation. You get $25.00 and you also donate $10.00 to the site and it costs you NOTHING. Check it out. If you don't feel comfortable with it, that is fine but I feel good about it or I can assure you that I would not have signed up. I certainly plan to start trying it on any of my Ebay auction and etc. and to use it as an optional choice here for donations. PayPal will still be available for those who wish to use it. So, check it out if you wish. Please click on and use THIS link to ensure that the $10.00 goes to VentureRider.org FREE to register for an account FREE to add money from your bank account FREE to send money FREE to receive money FREE to request money FREE to transfer money to your bank account
