  1. I was looking up a couple things at work today and stumbled across this world economic map. It shows all the countries and what state the economic indicators are pointing to in that country. I am thinking we might all feel a bit better when we get a chance to look at the map and see that everyone seems to be in a similar boat to us, all over the world ,except parts of Asia and Central America. http://www.economy.com/dismal/map/default.asp Brian
  2. Just got a 1st gen venture 1988 with good dunlops 491s and hard air in shocks and tracks good in cornners and straight yet hit a small road crack and for a second feel like skating on ice.....where should I look? I have a 1989 also and on same roads rock steady.
  3. went for a 250ml test ride sun,39#air,bike is a little squirrly, from the rear feels like the side wall is flexing a lot more than the BFG,tire is a lot more round than the BFG,but don't feel as stable as the BFG,in the curvies, will rase the # to 42 for the next test
  4. Don't know if this is the correct place for this or the right way to mention this. Another member said that he liked my signature and that got me thinking about it. I thought that maybe a signature for our sight on the welcome page would be a good idea. Something that speaks for the way we feel about riding or what ever that catches the eye of members and perspective members. Maybe we could have a number of suggestions and then have a vote to chose the one members feel is the best or most appealing. I am willing to give mine up if it were to be chosen. What do the rest of you think?
  5. I have had him for guessing around 30+ yrs. Sometimes lately he has been a real pain, but I lost a dear friend today. Now I just feel like I have a big hole inside me. RIP lower left wisdom tooth.
  6. I occasionally surf thru ebay and have found some good stuff and some junk. I am also amazed at what some of these folks think their stuff is worth. It is not uncommon to see something listed for a buy-it-now price of $150 and on the next page, the same thing listed for $20 and still no or very few bids. My question, as it pertains to this forum is; if I see something I think others may need or want, should I flag it to the masses on here? Because, when I am watching something that I want, I don't want someone blabbing to the world about it. When I am bidding, I kind of feel it is everyone else's tough luck if they do not spend the effort to look on ebay. But, when I come across something I think you guys may want, I want to flag it to the group. I would really like to know how others feel about this. RandyA
  7. I hope someone can help me - I brought my 85 VR out of storage recently and changed a starter that went last year (probably from driving thru torrential rains and hail last summer)(too close to the tornado!). I got the bike last year and I love it - I've fixed many things so far and want to get back to tip top shape - it's got GOBS of power. I removed the air cleaner and squirted some fuel into the carbs to get it started rite up!! Happy was I ! but it kept stalling. It will start and run on all cylinders when I squirt gas into it but it won't stay running. I hear and feel the fuel pump make a small noise and feel a bump when I turn the key on so I think it's working. The fuel filter is new as of last year and its transparent - I see white on the left side and orangy with fuel on the rite. The fuel gauge says it's full. I put Stabil gas stabiliser in it before winter. I looked for hours last nite on this site and read a lot of different posts and now I'm really confused as what to do first. I don't want to take it to the same dealer that wanted $1000.00 to fix my starter!!!!! I got it fixed for $107.35 - WHEW! I thot I'd be driving it home yesterday:doh:
  8. is there a certain time or a certain mileage when the frame on the 83 will crack, and will i have to remove the engine to fix it and do i want to? should i sell and get a 86 or newer?:sign67:what will i feel when this happens?, the crack i mean
  9. I have a carbtune kit and I feel that my carbs are as equal as I can make them. However, I feel a shaking or shuddering in 5th and even in 4th gear on seemingly level roadway. It makes me think that the motor is 'lugging down' and I really need to down shift....but my speed indicates that I should not have to. When I roll more throttle, it continues to quake until it 'catches up' for a moment. I try to use the cruise and that is uncomfortable.......I know this is a poor effort in explaining what I feel...Is there anyone with a guess as to what I may need to adjust???? Thanks: lynnjean
  10. and without mentioning any names.......you will know who u are.......thank you for talking with me tonight and helping me to better understand things. I cried after we hung up, not sure why but it released a lot of stress. You helped more than u know and in the end it has made me feel better about our decision as to what to do. I really think i can be at peace about it now. maybe ill send u a pretty thong to add to your collection to show my appreciation...
  11. Last Friday and Saturday, three buddies and I took our first two-day ride of the spring. The tour was about 700 miles round trip through the hills of Southern MO and Northern AR and was it terrific! The weather was perfect; cool in the early mornings, but 70ish midday. Was it nice to get out and just ride and visit with the guys. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity yet, I FEEL LIKE A NEW MAN. GET OUT THERE QUICK, YOU'LL FEEL BETTER TOO! I think that fix will last about 2 weeks...maybe...but it sure is nice summer is on the way!
  12. I mounted my c/t today. I took the bike out for a little spin to try it out. The ride was smoother and the handling seemed more responsive. It did feel different though, not bad, just different. There is a lot more rubber meeting the road and slow speeds felt more stable.
  13. Got home from meetings last night, grabbed the hubby, and jumped on the Venture!!!!! First time since last November!! We still have 3 ft of snow in the ditches....but ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......did that wind feel good in my face!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dancefool:It's amazing what it does for someones disposition! I feel like a new person! Ye ha!!
  14. I have a 08 rsv and I dont know if its the vibrations or what but if I ride for more than a hour my lower to mid back gets sore, I have the utopia back rest and thats great but I can feel the vibrations.Dont know if changing tires would help or not?? anyone else have this and if so what do you do? thanks
  15. It has been said, and I have found, that if you sing Amazing Grace.... you will feel better for hours afterward. This particular version is unexpected. DIVO performs it! It is done in the magnificent setting of the Coliseum. Very moving. Very uplifting. It is..... "amazing." Listen...my hope is that you will feel better for hours. From my heart to yours. 16. I want to thank all those who responded to my question about a high mileage Venture 2000 MM I was considering. The bike has over 100,000 miles but has been kept in great shape by its original owner. Many of you repsonded with excellent suggestions as to what to look for before purchasing the bike. The owner has notified me today that someone else will be buying the bike. However, this has been a great experience for me. Thom in Texas told me about this site last weekend and since I enrolled, I feel I have made many new friends. I thank each of you in making me feel welcome. I still would like to get a 2000 Venture MM and hopefully one day ride with a member of this great group. If you run across such a bike, please let me know. Thanks again. Mike Corpus Christi, Texas
  17. I have filled out census forms for five decades and this one is unbelievable. They question you about everything. It is like a diary of your living. I don't feel comfortable in the "confidetiallity" of it. Why does it matter how many rooms, how far to work, how many people ride with me, how much I earned last year (to the dollar), etc? They want to know everything about all occupants of the household and your house payment. They even admit it takes thirty-eight minutes to fill it out! I feel like I am being set up as a "stimulus" to pay back the trillions that our government gave away to others. I'm mad
  18. I have a 08 venture and I rode it to work today and on the way back when i get around 50mph I hear a hum sound in the rear almost like the tires on a truck make but not quit or a gear humming, any idea? It has the factory dunlops on it and I have never heard it before today and I feel alittle vibration also but that could be normal and I am trying to sence things. Thanks for any imput.

    Wow..a butler seat gem

After Christmas I sent my 05 RSTD OEM seat back to Rick Butler to reshape the memory foam as it was making my arse numb. He was kind enough to modify it a second time and I feel I can now ride all day long What an asset to have for US Royal Star owners . THanks RickNorm dba Nevada Max
  20. I can take the fact my driveway is iced up and still takes a 4x4 to get out. I can take the fact it's Feb 1 and the creek is running high. I can take the fact I got called out to work a few hours today but? What was that group of 4 Harley's doing out on the interstate? Acting like it was the fourth of July and I didn't feel like waving.
  21. My mother put me on to this story. http://www.ohio.com/news/dyer/38072269.html I feel for the guy in the SUV. Seems like he's being hung out to dry.
  22. Here's a little Video abaout how to bring the Bike inside the House, feel free to learn a bit from this ... [ame=http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=fdaGu7JjMpA]YouTube - VmaxBob-20090110[/ame]
  23. I can finally feel good about my tires. As noted by others before they make the bike feel lighter.
  24. ...and cold, but by god all the snow has melted and it rained for 2 days. Then the wind blew the roads dry with 50 mph winds....and I finally got a fix and took the bike out tonight for about 45 minutes. I can see what a miserable S.O.....well you get the picture. It sure did feel good to get some wind in my face, even if it was 36 degrees. This PMS is really starting to break me down
  25. Not a Royal Star but Still a Yamaha... A friend of mine called me a few weeks back and asked if I wanted to buy their Motorcycle. I couldn't pass it up it was so cute.. lol It is a 1983 Virago 500 with only 5743 miles on it. Still looks and runs great.. Not sure what Im going to do with it, I just like the way it looks.. I feel like an elephant on a mini-bike when I get on it. Here are some pictures if I did the link right. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=227 Also,, if someone cant tell me how I can get my pics smaller I would appreciate it. I used a resizer and it still didnt make them small enough. Thks.
