Freebird, is there some sort of parts cross reference we could post up on this site as a tool for researching common parts between bikes?

Stopped at the local Honda shop today to get a filter (yama shop 70 miles away). They crossed to a Honda #15410-MFJ-D01 by way of a K&N 303. Does anyone know of a reason I shouldn't/couldn't use this filter. It appears to be a new number starting back in 2007. Looks to be the correct size, same as what's on my bike now. I've not been able to cross this on any of the referenced charts I've looked at. Dealer said the new goldwings are running this. If it's OK I'm thinking most of the cross ref. charts out there need an update. Helpful replies much appreciated .

Got back from 4 day trip yesterday, Seattle, to Kalispell Mt. and up to near Glacier Nat. park. Good run, bike performed great. Hit some bad road construction on Hwy 93 just north of Missoula, Mt. 10 miles of gravel. I wanted to see " FlatHead Lake " area. Great place to ride. Weather still on the cold side up in that area. ( 42 deg. here in Seattle this morning, must be Global Warming !! ) On return trip yesterday on I-90 from Vantage Wa. to top of Cascade range, I hit some really bad cross winds, about 30 to 40 MPH Winds. Traffic on I-90 was heavy and running 70 to 75, and that wind was vicious. The 1st Gens Do NOT like cross winds. Frankly it was a battle to keep the bike on the road. Winds seemed to be changing direction, thru the canyons, getting hit from the left, then the right, etc. For those 1st Gen riders, who have never encountered, high cross winds, be warned , these bike have a lot of surface for cross winds to have effect !!! Anyway, 1250 mile 4 day trip, great ride, great scenery up around Glacier Nat. Park. Lots of bikes headed North on Mt. Hwy 93. A challenging ride, I highly reccomend. I also rode sections of Hwy #2, I highly reccomend, from Dakota's all the way to the Pacific Coast, if you have the time !! Deffinatly put Hwy #2 on your " To DO, Someday List " !!!! Well, guess I will have to cut the grass today And wash the bike, its really dirty !!

Thanks to A1Bummer for providing this info and the pictures. If you need a new thermostat, there is a Napa #156 and on the Napa box was a #33708 that I was able to cross reference to a Stant #13758 at my local auto parts dealer. A stat at the MC stealer was ~$30 and at the auto parts dealer it was ~$7. All are 180* stats. Thanks, Bill

After a search by home land security we were allowed to go across hoover dam. It was a sight to see with lots of traffic both vehicle and foot. They are building a bypass road and bridge that will cross the canyon about 500 yards from the dam. The two sides of the bridge arch support are up and most of the road on both sides are done

Hey guys. I told you about my Central Australia trip middle of 2008. I think most of you are also aware that I'm a keen (pro)photographer. Did I also mention that I do 3D Stereo photography? Anybody familiar with it or even tried it? Have a look at these. If you want to see the 3D, just look at the centre of the big picture and cross your eyes until the images merge, and "Whammo!" There you have it. Can't see it - keep trying. It's a bit like riding a bicycle. Once you've mastered it you will have it forever.

I was riding my RSV today w/2 up, doing 65-70mph on a straight open ND hiway with no trees, and a 25mph gusting cross wind. I was being blown around pretty good, using up about 1/2 the lane. I was riding with a friend on a Honda Shadow that said he was being blown around too but I don't think as much as me. Then another biker comes up on a cruiser with an addon windshield & soft bag, no fairing or hard bags...this guy flew around us at about 75-80mph with one hand on the bars, waved to us with the other, & had no problem holding his line at all. I continued watching & he kept riding with 1 hand until out of sight. I "think" I have pretty good balance, and riding in wind normally isn't a big deal, but with both my RSV & VR, with a straight cross wind I seem to get blown around more than other bikes. Just wondering if what I experience is "normal" with these bikes or not? I always attributed the issue on the VR to it's high center of gravity, but the RSV seems much lower...so I'm a bit confused...?

I would like to make some of the Canadian M&E and some of the runs. I would like to know exactly what does a U.S. citizen need to cross the border? Joe

For those who follow first aid changes; there has been some problems with the new recommendations on the Red Cross pages for the "lay person" as opposed to the professional rules for first responders. For the lay person the new thing is for only chest compressions for adults and 30-2 for children. Go to your local Red Cross for the latest info. The older you get the more you need first aid training. Rod

This was passed around on the C.M.C. site, thought you'd all get some enjoyment out of it as well. http://www.whybike.com/biker Mine came back as; You are a Road Captain You live in the wind. You could be at home watching far off destinations on TV but you prefer to discover your own. You cross state lines like most people cross the street. When stuff happens people look to you for answers. You are a wiz with duct tape and bailing wire. Riding is not just a diversion but a way of life.

Well my RSV took a real beating on my trip to Yellowstone. The ferring and lowers look like someone took a sand blaster to them. Don't know why this trip was any different. May be all that desert we had to cross to get there. Although it's already too late, does anyone know where I could get a bra for the RSV?

Attachment is the Oil Filter Cross Reference List from before the crash of August 06... NOTE: This is an old file. It has been reported that some of these filter, the Purolator in particular, have been redesigned and no longer work on our bikes. CrossReference.pdf
