  1. WOW ! This is different. Just slightly bigger city than Gassaway. Right down town Baltimore. I could get lost here. Glad I have a GPS with me. I'm here on a three day all-expense paid trip. Too bad its a business trip.
  2. My buddies backyard motorcycle business is going under. He is liquidating everything. Almost all the parts are for HD,GL1800 and GL1500. Lots of Kuryakyn, Big Bike Parts, windshields,J&M, battery tenders and helmets. Attached is lists of all the motorcycle parts, see anything you like email me at donaldj624@aol.com. Thanks
  3. OK folks, it's been a while since we have had any new T-Shirts made up for our members. Crash used to take care of this but he is no longer in the business. Do we have any members here who are in the silk screening business? I am looking for somebody who is willing to help me with the design of a new shirt, willing to have them made up and do the inventory, shipping, etc. If you are interested, send me a PM or an email and we'll see what we can work out. We already have a member who does embroidery on caps and shirts but not screenprinting, dye sublimation, etc. If nobody here is in the business, I'll start looking for a vendor elsewhere.
  4. My client base is changing a little but business is still good. I had one customer wanting communications for his Bounty Hunter business. Another one is starting up a Repo business. He said he gets shot at once in a while but banks pay him good money for hauling vehicles in. Oh well as long as I get paid. I still keep the bear hunters in communications to.
  5. Alert for any of our Pennsylvania contractors (including general contractors, painters, plumbers, electricians, possibly landscapers, and others! You better do a search for "New PA contractor law". There is very disturbing requirements that will take effect THIS July (09). While PA needed this kind of registration for contractors, they don't need to have government tell them how they can run their business to this extent and take away safeguards for contractors (against non-paying consumers) only and leave those same safeguards in place for consumers. This isn't right, and it's discrimination against legitimate contractors! This will effect all our PA contractor members and is another example of government not thinking things through completely before passing something (just like the minibike/atv ban because of lead in the motors and batteries). I would suggest you study this law and see how adversely it will affect you and how you do business and the risks involved with this new poorly thought out law, then contact your officials and work to get some of these items changed to be fair. Go here for more info on this upcoming law (as well as other sites you'll find with a search): http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press.aspx?id=3993 and click on the "Home Improvement Consumer Act" text near the top of the article.
  6. These are not our fathers Indian. The bikes are awesome looking but the prices were 30K to 40K.I was wanting to ask if they were meant to be driven.I am afraid in this economy Indian will go out business again.
  7. I would like to replace the walls on my little camper that I pull behind the bike. It is a Travelite, I believe, and I think they are no longer in business. I probably need about 12 square yards. Any suggestions on what would work good and where I could get some material? RandyA
  8. well i got a bug in the butt today and was cleaning my shop up and got to thinking. i really miss building stuff and metal fabricating. got the machinery and tools to do most anything mechanical just sitting idle. so i thought why not start manufacturing motorcycle related tools and accessories on a small scale. all i would have to do is up grade my milling machine to cnc., and i could kick butt and work at home. going to sort this out in my mind. my first product will be an affordable top of the line wheel balancer. i have connections with alot master machinists and work for very good friend who has a multi million dollar shop, so the sky's the limit on what i can get done. my wife says i'm to old to start a business, but it may be worth a try. bill ps. any one in the market for a top of the line wheel balancer.
  9. I recently bought a part on ebay, (Lower fairing vent Louver ),from an ebay vendor, cmstexas. The seller did not offer any shipping options other than USPS Prioity mail for $6.80 which I thought was a little expensive. But, I needed the part more than the $6.80 shipping so I bid on item anyway and won it. I paid for item and shipping via paypal and part showed up in two days very neatly packaged in a box you could have put fifty of them in. Opened the box and item is rattling around in huge box with one wrap of tiny bubble wrap, and a small piece of brown slick sided shipping paper,(But, not enough to cushion item from rattling around in box). So as soon as packaged arrived and being a dutiful E-bayer I left, as e-bay request Honest feedback which read. Positive option "Item arrived quickly and was as described but shipping expensive. " next day, today....................................... I get E-bay e-mail from this seller four paragraphs chewing me out because I complained about his shipping charge amoung other things he ranted about: "Shipping cost was clearly stated in listing" Yes it was but, seller did not offer any less expensive shipping options. I've been riding for the last 10k miles with this part missing I would not have had a problem waiting an extra day or so for cheaper shipping cost. "With the cost of packageing materials he lost money" :fiddle::fiddle: I don't doubt it shipping a 6 ounce item in a 30 pound box, I don't know what he paid for the box, roll of brown shipping paper and the bubble wrap but I use free newspaper which works just as good, I've shipped the same item with no problems in an padded envelope. for a fraction of the shipping cost. My business experience tells me that if he is losing money doing business, maybe he should rethink the way he is doing business. :Im not listening to:Im not listening to
  10. :rant:So, Liz and I get up this am, and head for the bike shop and our new ride. I won't give the name, but it's a Honda store in Alcoa Tn, and there's only one in Alcoa Tn. Let me go back a few days. We stopped in there last wed, so that Liz could sit on a new wing, and compare it to the RSV. She liked it well enough that we did the paperwork and gave them $1000 down. We explained to them very clearly that that was our downpayment. No problem they said, we'll see what we can do. They called friday and said we were approved. My next day off was today, so we made an appointment to pick the bike up at 10:00.. So we get there at 10:00, they're moving bikes and atvs around and dont even look our way until almost 1030. When they get to us, the saleslady says have a seat, I'll go get the paperwork . When she comes back and sits down, she starts going over #s, Then says the total is 20000 or so, we are financing 13000 with your 7111 down, are you going to write a check for the other 6111? Excuse me??? what the ---- is this? We told her if they had just mentioned this over the phone, we could've avoided wasting our time. She says wait a minute, I'll go talk to the finance manager. So we go back and forth for a few minutes, and the wife and I are really getting POd. The excuse we got for not being told this over the phone was that they couldn't tell us about wanting a bigger downpayment because of the privacy act. Bull! Then, before they would give us our $1000 check back, we had to fill out a form stating why we weren't going to do business with them. It's probably a good thing that Liz filled out this form. So, there won't be a new bike this year, we're going to wait until spring. We told that to the folks at the Honda store and they had the cajones to ask us to come see them when we're ready to buy. Is this the normal way business is done when someone goes to spend this kind of money?? If so, the moneypit has probably got another 100000 miles or so in her.
  11. Finally some good news to report. After living in an apartment for almost 2 years, this kid is getting back into the home ownership business. I recently found a 2189 sq ft split-level with 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, living room, dining room, kitchen, and family room for a resonable price for my youngest boy and myself. It has 0.4 acres of land (plenty for adding a pool in the spring) and a 2 car garage that seems to be big enough to put the car, truck, & bike inside during the winter. Financing in going to be through the VA and the rates are finally looking a bit competitive against conventional loans. Closing will be Nov 25 and possesion will be the first of December. My son was very excited, until he seen the yard that has to be cut. His first order of business is getting a puppy come spring time.
  12. Well I opened the wallet and bought an aluma MCT trailer for the bike today. Looked through the old posts and found a company called MCHITCH that has the hitch for a 2006 Venture and also a wiring harness. Has anybody done business with them or do you know of a better dealer. Thanks in advance. Kenw

  14. Ok, Just tried to print vr business cards on computer business cards. There are only 8 cards on the format. Can anyone tell me how to make it 10 cards?? This is on adobe . Thanks, Davecb:puzzled:
  15. I've searched with no luck for the Venturerider.org business card template. I have the solid black one but I had another one that had a white background. Can someone point me towards the place to download the white back grounded one ? Thanks Keith
  16. First Gen business that is. Is it just me or have you noticed? First gen prices for scoots and parts are going high on Ebay compared to last year.Maybe the first gen reputation is getting around thanks to the site.
  17. RideGear.com is not a good place to shop. I have seen complaints on other forums and have received comments confirming my bad experience. They have been reported to the Better Business Bureau on a number of occasions. Has anyone here had experience good or bad with this company?
  18. OK folks. I want to thank Crash for handling our caps and shirts for the past 4 years. It is not easy to do with the minimum quantity requirements and etc. but he has done a great job for us and I thank him for all that he has done. He has notified me that due to a new job that he just no longer has the time to do this. I will be looking for a new vendor to handle our caps and thought that I would post here first. I don't know if we have any members who are in the embroidery business or not but if so, here is a GREAT opportunity to work very hard for very little profit and folks, it just don't get no better than that. If you are in the business and wish to discuss it with me, shoot me a PM or an Email. Again, thank you crash for the wonderful job you have done for us.
  19. I was wondering if anybody is in the business of selling high performance car stuff, like a speed shop. I would like to get some prices on some stuff I want to buy.
  20. I just wanted to put in a favorable plug for the Mustang Seat Co. I ordered one last Thursday - got a confirmation e-mail within an hour. Just a few minutes ago, for the heck of it, I e-mailed them just to see the status of the order. They e-mailed me back within 5 minutes stating that the order was shipped last Thursday (same day I ordered) and that I should get my seat very soon. (They had suggested 4-5 business days and it sure looks like it will happen!) Firstly, that's pretty darn good shipping time from them to me (in Canada) and secondly, I have NEVER received a reply e-mail that quickly. I e-mailed them back again to say thanks and sure enough, 5 minutes later, they acknowledged my 2nd e-mail and said they appreciated my business. So - a huge thanks and many words of praise to a fine company!!!!!! Eugene :clap2::clap2::clap2:
  21. Just wanted to say that I recently made a visit to Kelly’s in Hamilton (Ontario) and was very pleased with their service. A fellow rider who has done business with them suggested them to me. I also met another venture rider who didn’t know about this site (can you imagine that!), he also spoke well of Kelly’s. I talked with Kelly a fair bit and found him very courteous and helpful, he also seemed confident of his staff. The young girl at the parts counter was not only very helpful but also seemed to know her stuff and was very pleasant. They haven’t done any servicing on my bike yet but I’d be willing to give them a try. After doing some business, asking some questions and getting advice, I felt very pleased with my visit and drove away feeling very satisfied. We don’t live in a perfect world so it’s nice to see someone do the best they can. He also gave a discount for club members.

    raskcycles.com

I took a ride up to Rask Cycles the other day because I had seen them on the web. They have a nice line of leather products. I bought a pair of gauntlet winter gloves that are good leather for 15 bucks. They have the real thick fingerless gloves for 4 bucks. Its a small store that does a sizable internet business. They have other things as well, but you can try their website at the aforementioned address. Jim
