1. Hey everyone, I just bought an 83 venture royale and I was told the main wiring harness was bad when I bought it. Finally today I got around to stripping down this beast and getting to the wires only to find that I am in way over my head! there are more wires on this thing than my truck! On top of that I cannot nearly call myself a mechanic of an electrician. I need help, and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some help or if there was another member somewhere that could help me fix the wiring! I am willing to pay! please send help! thanks guys. -Charles.
2. Bought a garmin streetpilot C330,I also bought a Ram motorcycle mount for that particular gps but there is no place to plug the power cord into this mount like the one that come with the gps for a automobile.Am i missing something or is this the wrong mount. The gps snaps right into the mount.

New Ride

Just bought this 1970 Honda Trail 90 will be at my house Sat. AM going to have some fun now:322:
4. Have seen that they have been released to the market. They are said to have a bit different shape and a flip down sun visor. Has anyone bought one or tried one out? It is about time to replace the helmet I bought with my 05 (an original SYMAX) and am considering it as the replacement. Here is the url of anyone wants to go to the HJC website http://www.hjchelmets.com/
5. So, I put the tags on, changed oil, filter, and seafoamed the fuel. Took off and proceeded to run 1 1/2 tanks of fuel through today. Come out to 366 miles. Went to Austin on the interstate, over to Canyon Lake, went and met JRichard, then went to Perdenales State park. Met some Valkyrie riders and rode with a few Harleys. Mocha is running top notch. After the SeaFoam and Marvel mystery oil in the crankcase the idle went from 950 to 1100. Gonna change plugs and put in synthetic this week. Bought a set of Morgan carbtune II's just to finish it off. Looking forward to next weekend and more hill country. Oh for the northern folks, my thermometer registered 78 in the back yard today. JRichard-you missed a great ride!!! JB
6. Are there any members in the house who are workers at US Steel? We have recently been bought out up here in the frozen north by USS I would like to ask a few questions, especially if your company had been bought out by the same. Thanks.
7. I had one just like her. I bought it new off the showroom floor for $1995 in 79. Sold it when I found mamamo in 81. I couldn't afford them both so had to let one go. A man does some strange things at times.I bought my 84 venture 24 years later.
8. just bought a new venture and want to change the windshield to a shorter one. any tips on right way to get the old one off?

10. Folks, here is a very nice offer from KR1 (Kevin). You can't be the first to place an order because I've already done it. Here is him email to me. If you want one of these, please PayPal your $10.00 to dnelson@axcesswave.com and put "CD" in the comments box and I'll see that all the money goes into the fund. Don, I would be willing to help move this fund raiser along by donating 50 of my CD's "Freedom of the Heart". This CD is a mixture of country and inspirational songs. Many of the people who have bought this CD have bought it for themselves, or as a gift for parents, or just someone that needs a lift in their life. There are 8 songs on this CD: Let Freedom Ring, Best Friends, American Tribute, Listen to the Whisper, Man in the Mirror, Welcome Home, Proud to be an American, and Homeland. If Ventureriders would like to offer these for sale to members for $10 each, and have the money collected by someone for Ventureriders, they could send me the names and addresses where these need to be shipped, and I would be willing to ship them out and cover the cost of the CD's, packaging and postage. If you're interested, let me know and I will be glad to help out. Thank you. KR
11. On an 83 xvz1200.Wandering how long water pump seal last.I replaced mine about eight or nine years ago.It wasnt leaking them.I had just bought the bike and gave it a good going through.
12. I just bought a Garmin 2720 GPS. Anyone have one? What kind of bracket/connections will I need to mount it?
13. OK, it seems that we as a group are buying quite a few Odyssey batteries, and I thought I'd toss out this idea on doing a group buy like we've done in the past. I called the Westcoast distributor for Odyssey, and because I've bought directly from them in the past my business is already set up as a dealer even though I've only bought for personal use. They are going to have a price increase right after the first so I can't quote prices yet, but can after the first. There's no way we could put together a group order in only a couple of days. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner...??? The group buy price will be based on 10 units minimum, and any mix of the PC680MJ (1stGen) or PC545 (2ndGen) batteries. There's also a question of a possible drop ship directly from the distributor which could save a few more bucks over all. More on that later. So, is there any interest from the board?? If not, that's OK, just thought I'd ask....

Just Sold It !!

I sold my 86VR on eBay yesterday for Buy Now price. The strange thing is, the man who bought it lives in Hamburg, Germany & is having it crated/shipped to germany via land or sea. I had a post about a fellow in MN, who wanted "Proof of Possession", but this guy said we are both members with 100% feedback over many years & that was good enough. He called, from Germany, & asked a bunch of good questions, then bought it. I had $500.00 deposit within the hour. He bought it 6 hours before end of auction. The scoot is in good shape, looks decent, & fair price.....but sold & shipped to the-other-side-of-the-planet? WOW! I NEVER , NEVER would have expected this one.
15. Over the years I have let x amount of batteries go bad by leaving them hooked up but not riding enough. This last new battery I bought was to be different in that I bought a Battery Tender and left in on. So I went to start it up this weekend and sure enough it was dead. Furthermore the fluid level was low in most of the cells. Rather than buy a new battery once again, is there a product that can be added to the cells to bring this one back? I know from past experience just adding distilled water to the dry cells and charging typically does not work. Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.
16. Hi Guys, I'm usually over on the 1st gen side of things, but I have a buddy who wants a driving light bar for his RSV and his wife asked me where to get one. What are the choices out there? Where have you bought them and for how much? Thanks, Jeremy
17. I am 42 years old have been riding sport bikes and mid-size bikes all my adult life. I recently purchased a 2000 Royal Star Venture, which by the way, I LOVE! Although I've ridden them for a while, I never really got into the mechanical/technical end of things. I recently joined VR and it seems that many of you may have answers to a couple of questions I have. I bought this big bike so I could take my ten year old son, Danny for rides. He is severely mentally and physically handicapped, and can not speak. But, he LOVES to go for rides. He screams and giggles the whole time. However, he is HUGE for his age. He is 5'4" tall when we hold him up, and ways 170 lbs. He also has little lower trunk and leg control. This sometimes makes the bike wobble in the back as we go down the road. I was wondering what you all think of the Voyager trike for the Venture. Has anyone ever tried one? They just seem like over-sized training wheels to me, but if they work, I'll gladly put up with the embarassment. I know my wife would be alot happier. Any thoughts? Secondly (and finally), when I bought the bike, it had the BUB slip-on mufflers on it. The loud exhaust seems to bother my son, mostly during acceleration from a stop. I bought a set of stock, OEM's off of Ebay, but the bike has K&N filters and a Stage 1 kit in the carburators. Does anyone know if I have to go back to the stock setup to use the stock mufflers? The local Yamaha dealer says yes, but I don't usually trust dealers. I don't want to spend the extra money if I don't have to. Any and all replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don M. from Harrisburg, PA
18. I need a radio control for my 1999 Venture. Does anyone know where a used one can be bought? Or someone with a wrecked Venture that is parting it out? Thanks
19. I am new to the v4. bought a 1987 VR a short time back. It makes like a squeak. When I bought it the dealer said is was the venture wine. I have riden it just about 3500 miles and no problem, the noise hasn't changed. This chirp is like three rapid chirps, a slight pause and starts back over. You don't notice it after the rpm come up some or while you are riding, but at a idle, it is rather loud. Is this the chirp that is talked about or is there something else I need to be worried about?

GPS

Hey guys and gals, I've been using a GPS for years and had several and now using my Garmin 2610. My son and his wife want a GPS for Christmas so what is a good one for around $400.00. Also, I've always bought my various units from GPSnow, is there better prices out there. Thanks, Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.
22. for my birthday, i bought a new toy. i haven't seen one on the market in 30+ years. do any of you remember ".05 spinning tops"? you know , the wooden one, that you wrap the string around, and toss! dang near beat my brains out, trying to re-learn what seemed to come so easy , when i was a kid. lol just jt
23. i'm new to the Venture world so please be patient. i just bought an 87 venture 1300 that had been sitting for years. it only has 8500 miles on it. the guy i bought it from said he had the local yamaha shop replace the fork oil. however, the slightest curb or difference in the road seems to bottom out the front forks. what do you all suggest? so far i love my venture!!
24. From the letter I received from Avon, I just came back from putting 42 psi front and 48 psi rear. DO IT!!! That's what I was looking for when I bought the Avon's in the first place. High speed much improved and sticky in the twisties. Try it, you'll like it.
25. Well folks as much as I hate to do this I am raising prices of the lift adapters by $10 per model. The new prices will go into effect Oct 14, 07. I've already updated the ad in the classified section reflecting the price increase. If you order before the deadline subtract $10 when placing the order. I've held out as long as possible avoiding this issuse but between shipping and raw material costs going up I have no choice. I have bought steel in a larger quanity to help offset that cost but shipping cost is nothing that I can control. Hopefully it'll be another year before I have to do this again. Thanks to everyone who have already bought an adapter from me Larry
