  1. wow! i knew i could count on you guys. i'll look into all of those possibilities. yes, it is only 12k. it had sat in a garage up on the center stand for 12 years. the story is the second owner bought it and then was arrested shortly thereafter and was sent to prison for a long time. the guy i bought it from put new tires and carb "boots" on it and used it once in a while for a year. i think it was a good deal. again, thanks for all of your help!!
  2. My '87 Venture, which only has 12,000 miles, is starting to blow blue smoke when i've been sitting in traffic and temp gauge goes up. Any other time it's fine. Only when it gets hot does this happen. Any help??
  3. sounds like a great addition for my '87 venture. but, i just bought it a few months ago. what does the super brace do and how do i know if i need one or not?
  4. how do i know the difference between an '87 venture and a venture royale?
  5. wow! what great help. i'm gonna like this bike and this group. thanks for the feed back. i'll check out all the possibilities.
  6. i'm new to the Venture world so please be patient. i just bought an 87 venture 1300 that had been sitting for years. it only has 8500 miles on it. the guy i bought it from said he had the local yamaha shop replace the fork oil. however, the slightest curb or difference in the road seems to bottom out the front forks. what do you all suggest? so far i love my venture!!
  7. the issue is i dont have the stock Cassette. I never came with the bike. When i looked through the bike, i cant find anywhere that it would logically be. Initially, i thought in the dash compartments, but i dont see any wires or holes from a radio. Does anyone have pics...or anything that will give me somewhere to start??
  8. im looking to install an ipod unit into the 87. i bought the bike 4 days ago, so please be patient. I have read the forums and the manual and it appears there is a jack in the front fairing(?). If that is the case, i would have to install an amp(if audio logic is serving me right). What advice can you guys give?? thanks again.
