1. For anyone contemplating buying or putting together a valve shim kit, you won't BELIEVE this buy! I'm sure the web site is a mistake, but I ordered one anyway and got it for a total of $12.90 ($5.95+shipping)! I expected them to call me and say "no way", but it arrived today! :cool10: And now they have even LOWERED that price! Better get your order in before they change it. Order the starter kit from this page: http://www.preferredpowersports.com/eshopprod_cat_5347-19112-30104_product_736199_keyword_25mm+AND+shims.KL_HONDAYAMAHA_SHIMS.htm Goose
2. Item 250464964200 Auction ends tonight.
3. I have a complete Baron's lowering kit. Its Used and in great shape. Comes complete with instructions for install. $140.00 with FREE SHIPPING to the lower 48 states, Pay Pal excepted.
4. Check it out in the Classifieds if you are looking for one. FREE SHIPPING
5. I was thinking about installing a Venture Dash Accent trim kit. I was wondering if anyone had one installed and what you thought of it? I know Yamaha makes 2 (Wood and Aluminum) and found another vendor who will create the exact same kit in any one of about 20 finishes. Was curious the good / bad expierences? Any photos would be greatly appreciate of what you have installed. Thanks in advance.. Stuart
6. Alan (hubby) and a friend finally had time to fit the Wedgetail Outrider (Voyager) on the weekend. It's not ready for me to ride yet, need to change handlebars and floorboards, and make holders for my elbow crutches yet--but we are getting there For those wondering what that is on my front wheel it's a leading link suspension. It was on for the sidecar, and an engineer told me to leave it on for the conversion. He has the (Voyager) kit on his Goldwing, so I guess he knows what he is talking about It moves the centre of the axle forward, rake angle changed too. Makes it like power steering when you turn
7. Hi Everyone - I too am considering putting a Voyager on my 2009 Venture S. I seem to remember somewhere that it said the side saddle bags would not open with the kit on. Can this be true? Does anyone have a Venture with the classic kit that can tell me for sure? That would make a big difference to me. Thanks for the info. Don
8. I followed jlh3rd's and V7Goose's posts on the subject. FANTASTIC data and THANK YOU to both plus everyone that added to their posts with tips, tricks and improvements. I started the project and have the 1/8" x 27 NPT TAP and the HELP! 42009 Spark Plug Non Fouler available to someone who needs it. (see V7GOOSE's post) Neither "tool" is particularly hard to find or expensive but I'll never use either again and try to give back where possible. I am willing to ship it to someone who needs them. PM me if you need it, I'll even cover shipping. Send it to someone else when your done!? Anyway: Everything is prepped on the gauges. Based on forum member tips: - Went with Mechanical gauges - Ordered 1/4" black ABS (from an eBay auction) to make my gauge bezel - Bought auto hose to cover the oil line to prevent an exhaust pipe issue I'll post a picture of the final product when done. In the meantime, if you're thinking about diving in, it was simple to get started: WATTS parts from Lowes and everything else from AID AUTO http://lh5.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sj64PKtyDVI/AAAAAAAACK4/aVoDWufRPy4/s512/P6210533.JPG M20 Oil Drain plug, drilled and tapped with A712 elbow. Drill press comes in handy. Yep, Teflon tape b4 install. The rest from the gauge kit http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sj64PaRLU6I/AAAAAAAACK8/0UFeQIT9zkA/s512/P6210534.JPG A213 adapter (left), rethreaded with Non-Fouler. The rest came with the gauge kit http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sj64QC1kujI/AAAAAAAACLE/G3_qDtZPG_Y/s512/P6210537.JPG My personal pref. SunPro 1.5" gauge kit. Got these from PepBoys, $35 http://lh4.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sj64QkYTREI/AAAAAAAACLI/5fv-PrSKjTA/s512/P6210539.JPG Unused parts. 10. I bought a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis 2 weeks ago and the headlights were horrible on it. I priced new ones and about choked. I saw Walmart did a headlight restoration for $40. I found out it's just a 3M kit that anyone can buy for $20 at VatoZone, Oreilly's,Napa, or Advance Auto. I tried the Meguiar's PlastX and spent an hour polishing them by hand. They looked better but they were still cloudy. I broke down and bought the 3M kit this morning after watching some youtube videos on headlight restoration. This kit works great. My headlights are crystal clear like new. If you have yellow, foggy, or cloudy headlights, this is a MUST!! You don't need the kit to do this. If you have very fine sandpaper (2000 grit or finer), then you could do this yourself by hand. I had no sandpaper nor do I have a polishing pad so the kit was more economical for me. The kit comes with 2 different sanding discs, a 3000 grit sanding pad, a polishing pad, an arbor and Velcro pad to attach the sanding discs and pad to, and some 3M plastic polish. You start out with an 800 grit paper and completely sand the headlight until the entire lens is a uniform texture. Next, sand it with a 2000 grit paper until all the there is a finer uniform texture. Then, use the 3000 grit sanding pad and water to sand all the scratches out of it. Finally, use the polishing pad and plastic polish to bring the headlight to crystal clear shine. Be very careful to keep the sanding discs clean. I apparently had something on one of my discs and now have some tiny little swirlly scratches in my left headlight. I can only see them at certain angles and I can feel them with my fingernail. I could probably sand the lens down some more and polish it out, but I'm very happy with the current results. I also removed three molded tits off the headlight lens. I took a rotary tool and ground them down flush and the 3M kit polished them out smooth. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/650/1000563small.jpghttp://img265.imageshack.us/img265/8449/1000564small.jpghttp://img176.imageshack.us/img176/4675/1000565small.jpghttp://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6892/1000566small.jpghttp://img176.imageshack.us/img176/406/1000569small.jpghttp://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1906/1000570small.jpghttp://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3530/1000571small.jpghttp://img44.imageshack.us/img44/9899/1000576small.jpg
11. Hi Everyone: I am really in a quandry. I feel like my 2009 RSV is top heavy and have read threads that say to lower the back end, to not lower the back end, to change tires on the front, etc. There seem to be cons and pros for all options. The dealer said that lowering the back end without lowering the front would make it worse. The dealer also said they don't recommend changing tire sizes. The dealer also told me that they had someone come in who had put on the lowering kit and took it back off within a week. Said it made it very unstable in parking lots, etc and made it more top heavy. I found a kit that is a "leveling kit" at Diamond Accessories" which actually raises the back end. This is supposed to make it more stable and less top heavy. Here is the link http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=Leveling Link Kit Will raising the back instead of lowering make a good difference? Has anyone tried this? Does anyone have any advice for me? I would like to do something to make it better but do not want to do it and the change not have any effect, or even make it worse. Thanks everyone for your help. Don Wood - New Venture owner
12. My RSTC has jardines on it and they sound good. BUT, I am wanting to go to the 4 into 2 style. I have read that some guys have used Harley pipes to do this. Or, are there kit out there for this application. I want a deeper sound than the Jardines, that is why I am researching this. Thanks.
13. WHAT IS THE BEST L.E.D. kit to add to my Venture????
14. I just got off the phone with PCW and ordered a clutch kit for my 99 Venture. Well not the whole clutch kit, but the new improved spring, gasket, and full clutch disk. The guy I talked to was great. He asked me some questions about my bike to make sure I was ordering the right stuff for my situation. He didn't try to over sell me on anything. I mentioned this site and he said he has dealt with many of us here and everyone he has dealt with has had good success with these kits, even the trailer pullers. So does anyone have any feedback on how they liked the PCW kit, or how it is working. Any suggestions or things I should look for while doing the repair? Also is it something I should save and do at M.D. at Freebirds. I should be getting the parts on Monday or Tuesday, HOWS THAT FOR SERVICE!!! Big Mike....Who cant wait for M. D. YEEEHAWWW
15. I am going to be installing the flanders kit. Does any of our members run the flanders with risers? If any of you have flanders and used the barrons risers, will the cables and brake lines that come with the kit be long enough? I believe that I will need to use risers as well to get the arm position that I desire.
16. At MarCarl's VentureIn event, a few members suggested that I post an idea for mounting running lights that dosen't require brackets. I mounted a pair of "Xreme" 55w lights just below the fairing and beside the rad side wings by removing the top threaded screw holding the aluminum side piece and using a longer threaded screw in its place to hold the lights in place. In my cse, I inserted a half inch spacer so the light that I used were in a perfect position. You can judge for yourelf whether the location looks good for you, but it sure functions well. Also, with "Xtreme" lighting kit that I bought (the oval shaped lights), everything needed came with the kit to install it directly to the battery (with an in line fuse) and to locate the switch inside the gas cap area. Didn't have to cut a single wire or drill holes. I may mount a switch on my dash some day, but for now, the location works surprisingly well as I can easily switch the lights on or off when I am riding.
17. http://www.tabortrikesusa.com/yamaha.html Does anyone run this trike kit?
18. I have received a number of questions lately about the fusebox upgrade I did on my 87'VR last summer so I put together a budget kit for the upgrade. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2033 Any questions, please ask! Earl
19. 15 mins and counting 'ffore I need to get my rear back to work, so I'm asking instead of researching! '83 VR in shop with brake pedal bottoming out. figured it needed bleeding. Saturday the brake was firm and working great, today when I came to P/U it was back where I started. shop thinks it may be bypassing the valve but cautioned that a rebuild may not solve the problem. 1. Will a valve rebuild solve the problem ( kit $90) 2. Would I be better off with a new master? (OEM $600) Alternatives? 3. Is a used one an option? Does someone have one? 4. Where do i get the rebuild kit (cheaper)? 5. Where do i get new SS lines? part #? $$? Thanks, in advance! If I can figure out whichis the best way to go, maybe I'll have my bike back by the weekend!! Yeah, I can ride the Shadow, what can i say, I'm spoiled!!
20. ---- HANNIGAN ------ Should be Done Next Tuesday! Still needs the rake kit added. Chrome Fender tips still need to be added. I am so very impressed with this kit so far very well designed. Found out they do not even use your main drive at all they do have to send the old one back for a core charge. And the color match turned out perfect I was so worried about that part as nobody has been able to match the MM colors very well in the past for me. Here are a few pics , enjoy....
21. Does my '83 Venture have a tool kit? If so, where is it located? I don't see anything in the manual referring to it.
22. I was hoping for some suggestions on where I could pick up a "Trailer Isolation Relay" in Canada. I need to wire up my Aluma MCT trailer and thought it would be wise to use a relay kit to protect the bikes wiring. I was also wondering how many actually use a relay kit. Is it really necessary or will the Venture handle the trailers LED lights without overloading anything. Thanks Jim
23. My Hannigan Kit came in last night to my Dealer. I was not going to show you guys until it was done. But I had to... One of the reason's I went there today is that I had to get my second saddle bag that they had for along time for the MM two tone color match. In the trunk is my RAKE KIT and Chrome Fender Tips for the rear. My matching trunk light bar, I looked under it. forgot to take pics *lol* man it is a work of art the suspension and brakes and stuff. I was racking it around in my brain the whole time if I wanted it one color or have it match my two/tone MM colors... So the end result is that I left it up to Hannigan. My Bike should be converted 27th or so.. should be a nice time to ride in Iowa by then. seems like this has taken FOREVER! I will post pictures of the final complete trike when finished.
24. I have read many post on tire plugs. some use the stop & go rubber plugs & some use the cord type with glue. Witch one is better? One of the post had that the rubber plugs leak air. I want to buy a kit for peace of mind that I can get home from out in no mans land. And do the Co2 cartridge's work? Have read some Co2 cans are empty& you lose a lot of air trying to use them. Eather a Co2 or Mini Compressor or Engine air pump. Witch would be the better choise? The stop & go kit looks like the easy way to go? No tire removel. I just want to put a kit together to carry incase it happens, so I can get home With out truble & not be at the mercy of some gowger to empty my walet out in the middle of no ware. Thank's for your input
25. I got a factory pro jet kit for my RSV Gen 2. It is CRB-Y92-1.0 part number. Have any of you guys or ladies installed one of these? Just looking for some feedback and or tips. I know I have to dis-assemble tank and remove carbs. How big of a project is this & is it worth it? Someone told me I may need to do this several times until I get the right jet combination. The bike does have Samson slash cut mufflers. Is it worth doing? Bill
