  1. I know this has been discussed more times than I can count, however being a 'newbie' I haven't seen/read any of the discussions. 2 part question - which tires do you prefer ? what kind of mileage do you expect ? I guess I should mention that I have a 2007 RSV thanks
  2. I rode the bike in to work today (about 60 miles @ 40 degrees) and was really happy with the way it performed since it was my first time out on the new scoot. I stopped to fill up and checked my mileage and was surprised to see I only got 26 mpg. I recently synched the carbs. Here's the dumb question part. I then realized I had driven the bike with it choked about 1/4-1/2. Will that affect the mpg's that much? Also, did I possible hurt anything on the bike by driving it that far with it choked?
  3. Good afternoon all just singed up to today Have a question to ask i have a buddy who has an 85 vr and he has a problem we are trying to figure out when the tach drops below i think hesaid around 2500rpm i am not 100% on the rpm s but he drops a cylinder and loses the tack above 300 rpm everthing runs great crusies prefect until you start to drop speed or come to a stop thn the tach quites and he loses a cylinder then bring the rpms back and preston you have all four cylinders again. any suggestion's on what to look for.
  4. I have purchased a set of risers based on all the wonderful information on the site. My question is, do the bolts have to be torqued? Not that I know much about anything mechanical, but would like to ensure that the handle bars don't come off because I didn't tighten them enough. As always, thanks for all the wonderful help.
  5. OK....I know that we have discussed various options for heating our homes but I have another question. Have any of you swapped from propane to electric heat? I know that at first, it seems like a dumb question but I've been doing some research on it and it's not so dumb as it may seem. There is a breaking point with the price of propane and the price of electricity where electricity becomes cheaper and I'm thinking I have passed that point. From what I have learned, when propane reaches $2.48 per gallon and if you are paying no more than .10 cents per KWH for electricity, then electricity becomes cheaper. I am now paying $2.50 per gallon for propane and my electricity is .07 cents per KWH so according to what I THINK I have learned, I would be better off switching to electricity. Any experts here who can show me where I've made a mistake?
  6. For the life of me I thought I seen a post somewhere where someone asked if a VMax center stand would fit on a RSTD or RSV. I can't find the post anywhere so I would like to ask this question once again. Would it? Dennis
  7. Need your help. I installed an auxilliary fuse block, recently. the hot wire has a 30 amp fuse between the battery and fuse block, and is activated by a relay. ok, here's the question...if i wire the passing lights to the aux fuse block will the passing lamps still require its own relay?
  8. Heres a question in search of an answer. We all know that after 50k mile or so the washier that help hold seciond gear wears then. to fix it the enhgine must be pulled and the tranny opened . First question . Does the tranny open from the bottom without having to tear the whole engine open? Second question has anyone ever adapted a car body rotiserre to flip a venture over and repair the tranny without having to remove the engine? W#ould this be a viable way to get to the tranny with having to tear te engine out? If anyones thought about or tried this I'd love to know. Or is it even possible? Thanks Theres a free PB&J sandwich in it for anyone with a good answer. Phil.

    RV ?

Beer24/7 and I have looking at RV's for the past year or so. Studying them to make sure when we do take the big plunge . As it looks for now , we are leaning towards the Winnebago Tour or Journey . The Tour is top of the list for now as being a diesel-pusher and the Maxium chasis . But as we are still studying them until we comment as we only want to buy the right one the first time . I have a question as to the Winnebago and Itasco . To me it's like GM and GMC , does anyone know what the main difference in the two ? Is it the quality of the construction , appliances , material used ? Only thing I see so far is the decal name . 10. I got my passing lamps from Santa and was getting ready to install them today but I decided I didn't like the switch that came with them so I stopped the install and started shopping. I was wondering what size handle bars are on the Venture? Also I was wondering if anyone has one of these(http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=3099&categoryID=1692) installed and how it worked for them. I am kinda torn between that one and this one (http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=935&categoryID=1692). Any suggestions would be appriciated.
  11. A simple post with a simple fact, asking a simple question, and someone turned it and now its gone.......:confused07:
  12. Just a quick question. How often are y'all balancing your carbs? I've been thinking of getting a CarbTune outfit, but wasn't sure how much I'd use it.
  13. How do I find out what number Venture my bike was in the production line of the MM Venture model. Sorry for the ignorance but now that I see everyone posting their number, it makes me question what number mine is.. Thanks
  14. Ok all you far riders and local yocals to the great state of Arizona.. Reading the recent post about the Canyon area brought up a question for you guys.. A few years ago I was exploring the Black Hills of SD and stopped for lunch in a small town.. There were a couple hitch hiker backpacking hobos there who I got yappin with.. We got talking about how much fun exploring Ghost Towns is and they asked me if I had ever been tothe one just off 40 - I think they said west of Flagstaff - that no one has been able to figure out exactly where it came from.. Anyone know what, where, how to find it and the like on this?? Any other really cool out of the way Ghost Towns and the like you would be willing to share??? Planning another bike trip!!! Thanks for the help!! 'Puc
  15. how do you tell a-h- basket from a -I - basket????
  16. Question is do I need to replace the left turn signal or the signal switch or the relay?? My left front turn signal went out, so I replaced it and it still will not work?? Tried another bulb and still not working. Cleaned out the holder and still not working. The light still works but not the turn portion of the bulb?? I thought if you had power to the bulb both would work. Give me some of your wisdom please. THANK YOU in advance.......................Ron
  17. I've got a question on a set of Edsets I just installed. The original headsets come in loud and clear. The Edset however needs to have the intercom on 19 to be heard and the radio also has to be loud. Are there any attenuaters in the system that can be taken out of the system, or adjustment on the headset to help out/ Thanks, Kenw:confused07:
  18. I have an '07 RSV. I didn't get an owners manual with it and I can't get the clock to set. Can someone help me out here?
  19. I've read the threads on sterios but not found an answer to my question. I don't have to tell you how bad the '85 Royale radio is (if you have one). I've decided to swap it out with a modern radio with a CD player. But, here's my question, are there any out there that will mount vertically without a lot of CD skip? I'm desperate for decent music!
  20. since we can add a CD changer into out RSV and I assume we then can use our master controller to inter act with it can you hook up our Ipod to do the same with a special wire to the audio controller? I hope this makes sence to you all and some one can answer this question Ill continue looking into the search to see if anyone has asked this question before but so far I haven't come across it. Thank you for everyones patience.:thumbsup:
  21. So I was on Highway 401 today (in the car) and it was pouring, and I was passing a transport, and those tires were spraying so much that you could not see anything not even the road, for the whole length of the truck and trailer. SO THE QUESTION IS. If you were on the bike DO you pass quickly ? Drop back and hope he pulls off ? OR What would you do ??? Rhonda and I were discussing this and not sure what I would have done, as it was bad enough in the car. MOst likely I would have backed away, but I would have hated to follow that Truck. BRad
  22. :banana:I'm going to be a father-in-law! My oldest son, Matt, and his girlfriend Valerie got engaged last week. He popped the question last week while they were on a Caribbean cruise. I was surprised but not totally. No date set yet.
  23. Well here I am getting ready to go to Eureka Springs and I've got my reservations and am ready to get on the road. We got 3 1/2" rain last night and it looks like more today. With hurricane Ike coming in and not knowing what the weather will be when we come back this weekend I'm gonna have to trailer up. (Is that a good enough excuse?) Anyway, to my question. I haven't trailered before and am having a hard time finding where to put the tie down straps. Do you just go across the tree? Any help will be appreciated. Jerry:doh:
  24. My bike is new and i don't know a whole lot about it yet so if this is a dumb question please excuse my ignorance. When you put air in the shocks does it acually raise the bike up or does it just stiffen the shocks to make sure that you don't bottom out in case you were say on a trip and had the bike loaded down with your passenger, clothes etc? Also seems like i read where you are not supposed to use an air compressor but like a bicycle pump or something. I am going to take a trip i think the middle of this month and was just wondering if i need to air up my rear shocks any to compensate for the added weight in the back. Right now mine came from the factory with no air at all in the front or rear shocks. My friends bike came that way also, just something we were wondering about. Also how much air can you put in them. Thanks. Oh yeah....did mention that i love this bike?
  25. yesterday afternoon, i hooked up my "carbtune II, to a kz1100 spectre. bike started right up, idled just right, NO VACUUM. cranked it up to 3000 r.p.m.s and got just a very slight hint of movement on the carbtune, then NOTHING! question is, WHERE is engine vacuum, created? we couldn't find any loose hoses, and no audible sound of a leak. any one who can offer any help, please speak up. just jt:confused24:
