  1. Looks like they are trying to break onto the scene with the same excitement as when the current vmax came on the scene and being way ahead of it's time. That bike will be scary to open up.
  2. Slick looking piece of ingenuity. That could probably be marketed.
  3. I agree 100% and you beat me to the same points that I would make except with much more eloquence.
  4. Ditto for me too. I really liked it but due to the mimimal space for gear it is a poser as a touring bike and I wonder how long it will be before anyone builds a hitch to pull a trailor.
  5. Thanks again Don for all that you do!!!!
  6. Really sorry to hear about your accident. Any time we go down it is a miracle when we end up alive. I pray that you heal quickly and you get your bike back together soon or find a great replacement.
  7. I think they designed the 2nd Gen as kind of a test to see whether they could be mass marketed without lots of marketing dollars and they just didn't take hold to their liking on their own. The cost of building these machines and the unbelieveable warranty means a smaller profit margin than their other star lines. Since they went to the trouble to design this bike they will make enough to at least break even. One of the reasons they don't make any changes in the 2nd Gen. has to do with trade agreements that cause Yamaha to pay large import taxes as if they are offering a brand new motorcycle such as a cd player, abs brakes etc. At least that is what the service mgr. at my dealer told me. The dealers that have these bikes available act like they don't care if they sell one or not. For one thing they are allotted very few per year. I saw a thread a while back that told how many a dealer could have and I think it was two per yr. I know when I bought my 03 the dealer had one on the floor which I bought and one in a box to be assembled and a week later sold it to a dealership in Shawnee, Ok. Happy trails!
  8. Sheepskin is great for all the reasons expressed in this thread. My wife won't let us leave home without it.
  9. Very good!
  10. Congratulations! It is easy to take it for granted the great performance of these bikes if I don't think back to the first ride on my 03 Midnight V. I still can't think of another tourer that I would rather have. The honeymoon will never end.
  11. Great video. I got to take a pretty good ride today as it was 60 degrees here today. It is supposed to be cold, rainy and possible freezing rain and snow the next two days so I had to get one in. It was great!
  12. Pretty cool! One thing that I would be aware of and it may seem superficial but in the 1% er world of motorcycle syndicated clubs they really take issue of any group identifying themselves as a club with out approval from their National syndication. That is why Christian Motorcycle Association is an association instead of a club and Starriders is an association instead of a club. They don't take issue with associations persay and therefore you don't have to be sanctioned by them. If you identify yourself as a club you are in for a lot of trouble if you don't seek their approval and follow their national \international bylaws.
  13. I have a coon tail hat mounted on back of my rack. I found it on HWY 34 west of Fort Collins next to a creek hanging on a fence post. It was during our international rally last July. That was a fun rally!
  14. I installed Bub slipons shortly after buying an 03 and also have K&N filters. Runs great and no rejetting necessary.
  15. I have K&N filters and Bub slip ons and did not have to rejet. The bike runs great. I would agree that carb synchronization is the first thing I would try because no change will be significant if the carbs are out of synch.
  16. My 8" wheels track just fine and I still have the original bearings with no apparent wear. The design of the trailor and proper loading are the keys to performance not the difference in tire size. Also Neosho offers a swivel hitch at competative prices if you choose to go with the piggyback. Not to beat a dead horse but the Neosho has the torsion suspension as an option and is a feature I suggest because mine has it and is a significant improvement over leaf suspension which my last Neosho had. Happy trailor hunting!
  17. I have the Corbin and it does lower the seat significantly but the width of the seat negates the difference somewhat. If I had it to do over again I would request Corbin to narrow the seat where my legs straddle the seat. I'm 5' 11" so I don't have any problems flat footing it but it would still be more comfortable narrowed a bit. Especially noticeable when I am pushing to back the bike especially on gravel I would have even better control. I may find someone to narrow mine yet.

  19. I have been pulling Neosho trailers for around ten yrs. My latest Neosho has around 50,00 miles on her without any problems and performs perfectly. There are some beautiful trailors out there but the Neosho in my opinion is the best bang for the buck even with the fanciest accessories. I think the swivel hitch , independent suspension, and LED running lights are well worth their additional price. LED may be standard now. I'm not sure. I added them to mine and with the weak charging system of the Venture they reduce the electrical draw significantly. Just My opinion.
  20. Gary I don't know you but my heart goes out to you. I don't know how you feel but it must be very difficult for you. I am very sorry for your loss. I just want you to know that Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss. No matter what you feel, think or say it is normal for you and it is vitally important that you continue to seek out people that will allow you the dignity to be heard without judgement or think they are obligated to give advice. You and only you know how you feel about this particular loss. Your relationship with your wife was tolally unique to the both of you. Continuing to tell the truth about how you feel is the main ingredient in getting beyond your loss. I don't mean forgetting your loved one I'm talking about the overwhelming pain that accompanies the loss of a loved one that gets in the way of the positive and happy memories in your relationship with your wife. When you get beyond the pain, isolation and loneliness you will be able to remember your relationship vividly and accurately and all the good times without being bombarded with the other. Good bye!
  21. Really spells out the whole spirit of riding. Thanks!
  22. Really sorry about your friend. It must be really hard for you. I wish you the best.
  23. Glacier Nat'l Park and the northern Cascades are the two most beautiful places on earth. I had the privilege to ride the highway to the sun during the day and at night during a full moon in August of 1997. They call it the highway to the moon during those times. It was the most impressive experiences I have ever got to do. A beautiful clear night with almost no wind. It is impossible to describe the beauty of those mountains against a full moon. I must get back there soon hopefully this summer. We have friends with a condo in Bellingham Washington. May have to do Glacier and the Northern Cascades. If you have never been you must make it once in your life.
  24. Wish I could be there.
  25. Eck doesn't even own a 2nd gen venture but he does stay @ Holiday Inn express often.
