  1. Generally speaking, if you're passing, your gonna be driving too .... my concern is... what are they when you're just sitting???
  2. Now that's a great clarification ... one which I can "grasp" !
  3. I'm generally in some kind of doo-doo anyway so what the heck... I agree with Bubber too!
  4. it's a matter of terminology ... some call them driving lights and others call them passing lights. It can also be related to when they are on (on with low beam or high beam). Frankly, I've never fully grasped the reasoning of calling them "passing" lights.
  5. Over the past 2 years I have had the opportunity to ride 3 different HD Ultra's (all new and one of them as recent as this past weekend), an '03 Wing, and a Victory Vision. IMHO, the RSV is a pig in the handling department in comparison to those bikes and this applies to low speed or high speed or any speed inbetween straight-up or cornering. Any mods that can be made to improve it are well worth it. For instance, last weekend on the Ultra I went around an S-curve on an off-ramp at a speed much faster than the posted limit... WITH ONE HAND with hardly any effort at all...yet the same corner on my RSV, at the same speed, I wouldn't dare take my hands off the bars and even with that I would have to "muscle" it either with my arms or with my body. This must be a proven issue otherwise why would so many riders be doing mods like leveling links or different tire sizes or changing the position of the fork tubes to improve the handling. I may not be very "in the know" but do we hear of peeps doing all sorts of mods to their HD Ultra's, Wings, Visions, or for that matter, many other bikes such as what we do with the RSV to improve handling? Having ridden several types and brands of bikes over the years, I can not think of any, including the 1st gen Ventures, that I have even thought of making mods to improve handling. Can't be just me? Having said that, I have never ridden a 1500 GW either (I've heard they ain't so good in this department either). ----end of rant EDIT: I forgot this ----> :witch_brew:
  6. OK, something doesn't add up here for me so guys, help me out... Firstly, from what I understand, the levelling links raise the bike appx 1 inch at the rear.... yes/no ? That being the case, then there can't be much more than about 1/2 inch raise in height at the floorboards.... yes/no ? Now, I'm 5' 10.5" with a 32" inseam. Stock bike (no suspension mods), I can flat-foot it no problem and still have extra. What's confusing me here is how the levelling links could be causing such a difference (going from flat footing it to balls of feet) ???? I'm not trying to be a "smart-a$$" ... coz I need to know this before I go ahead and order the levelling links. ....as an afterthought, what do you weigh??? me...... 155lbs ... possibly if you're a large person, even with the same inseam it might be harder to get your feet "down there" ... ???
  7. yep... what's good for the goose is not necessarilly good for the gander..... (something like that) danged good thing I did all my "bad stuff" before I turned 18 LOL
  8. This one seems a bit odd to me.... ____________________________________________________ 8. When am I eligible to apply for rehabilitation? You are eligible to apply for rehabilitation if: you have committed a criminal act outside of Canada (for which you were not charged) and five years have passed since the act; or you have been convicted outside of Canada and five years have passed since the end of the sentence imposed. ____________________________________________________ The first item ... seems to me if a person was never charged, then they've not been convicted either ... and unlikely that they'd be going around broadcasting that they committed the crime.... like... "yeah, I shot a guy 5.5 years ago for lookin at me funny but the law never figgured out who did it... guess I'm clear to go now eh?"
  9. In 1975, when I got married to my now ex, we travelled from the Okanagan in BC to Spokane WA. We bought a lot of stuff while down there, I had some custom products installed on my car, etc etc. One of the things I bought was a pair of cowboy boots. Coming back thru the border, they grilled us on what we bought, asked to see the receipts (which we had - but I didn't declare the stuff for the car). They then asked where I got the boots (I didn't declare those either) so I said "Penticton ... where we live" . They, for some reason, didn't believe me (inside the boots it was stamped "made in USA") so they made me take them off and leave them there until I could come back with a receipt. ... fine! ... like nothing in Canada is made in the USA??? So I get home, go to the office supplies store and buy a blank receipt pad and one of those kits to make up an ink stamp. Fashioned a false store name and stamped a receipt, put a phoney sales info onto it and drove back to the border, gave them the receipt and got my boots back. The irony of the whole thing was ... the stamp kit ... "made in USA" !!
  10. LOL... and I saw the shows all of those questions/answers appeared on.... :rotf:
  11. Deb, I'd suggest you get him some old tanks, helmets, etc and wrap them up real purdy....
  12. heh ... I did like the "bark" of the RK's but on long trips, especially pulling hills and even worse, pulling a trailer, the RK's were just too annoying. Sometime down the road I would like to ride someone's bike that is running Bubs just to see what they are like. Another thing I noticed about the RK's, especially after I drilled them out was the "pop-popping" while decelerating (probably coz after they're drilled out, it's basically a straight-thru system). Don't have that anymore with the stock muffs. Yes, I did disable the AIS.
  13. Thanks to fixitdude who sold me his stock mufflers, I removed my drilled out RK's yesterday and put the stock ones back on. It was a rare sunny warm day for this time of year and on the weekend to boot so I went out riding for the whole day. Took in the Harley demo days and rode a new Ultra Limited (103 cu in) ... great handling and decent power but, and I didn't notice this on previous Harley Ultra demos, the floorboards seemed uncomfortable and the shifter was up very high... had to literally lift my whole foot off the floorboard to shift. UGH ... didn't like that! It had the heated grips but since it was a warm day, my hands were getting kinda hot... I had no idea how to turn them off. Anyhoo, back to the mufflers ... gotta say it was a much more pleasurable ride with the stock pipes although I was much more aware of the engine whine but it's still no where near as bad as it was before I had the I-basket swap. Maybe it's just me but the bike seemed to have more power too! One thing is for sure .... it's got a lot more OOOMPH than that Ultra, especially when the revvs get up there!
  14. Dang... the whole country is seein it... 'cept us! oh well, we know what we look like ..... (now no smart-aleckey remarks from the peanut gallery! )
  15. All the posts before me are understandably very valid. You guys with kids know a lot more about this than me, not having raised any myself. It's just not something that I've paid much attention to. That being said, I have a slightly different "view" of the situation. I don't feel it is fair of your neice to disallow her daughter to come and visit you at your place just because there is this person livng close by. To me, that is punishing you and the child for something that is totally out of your control. You can't protect people from "life" by taking them away from it. What is your neice going to do???... disallow her daughter from doing anything that "might" cause her harm??... she might as well lock the kid up in her room then. I'm sorry but I just don't subscribe to that kind of philosophy.
  16. ...and what's on YOUR MIND ??
  17. hmmmmmmmm... sissen here lister ... I think you're a few up on me so WATCH OUT!!
  18. He's been around for quite a while ... but for some reason, I just don't like that guy or his style ... maybe he's just too "Eastern Canadian" for me LOL
  19. now that's more than funny... my wife lost her cell phone on the way home last night!! :rotf:
  20. So that's why female riders ........... (you can fill in the rest )
  21. Here is where I have a problem on right turns. Out on the highway I can drag either side no problem but for some reason I can't get it over that far on a right turn in a parking lot. I think it has something to do with the foot brake being on that side and the natural instinct to want to use my foot as a "stabilizer" if I feel I'm "going over" ... which means I'd have to take my foot off the brake. It's a "mental" thing.
  22. I ran mine with 25lbs fully loaded ... seemed to ride and handle just fine. Mine are the 8" wheels.
  23. Just a thought here then... why not put a car tire on the front of a trike??
  24. I agree with you ... was just posting what the sizes are supposed to mean according to the original "idea" (if I can use that). My statement used the words "suggests" and "should be" .... I wasn't necessarilly supporting the quotes. You have a 180 on the rear??? I (if not others) would like to know more about that! How does the bike handle? What effect has it had on your rpm vs speed in, let's say 4th & 5th? What clearance mods did you have to make? Anything else you can say about it...
