Hey Greg, Check this out http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3879&title=backrest-2c-drivers&cat=6

That took care of the problem! There were some obvious crack rings on the connector pins. I cleaned up most of the pins on the board. The first thing I noticed is that it now takes at least 2-3 times longer to pump up the rear shock. That really surprised me. Now it fills up and stays there. Thanks again for the help!! Ray

The CLASS system on my bike is acting up. I noticed it this summer but decided to wait until the winter months to tear in to it. The time has come. I thought that it just wasn't holding air due to a broken line but tonight I found that I don't have a broken air line. Here is what is happening When I turn the key to accessory, the discharge valve opens and all of the air is let out of the system. Leaving the system in the AUTO mode, I can pump up the front. When the desired pressure is reached, I get a small puff of air out of the discharge valve and everything is fine. According to the service manual this is normal. When I pump up the rear, the desired pressure is reached and then the discharge valve opens and lets all of the air out. I can immediately pump it back up but as soon as it hits the correct pressure, the discharge valve opens and all of the air escapes. Tonight I learned that the manual mode works fine. I can add or release air as needed. I also noticed tonight that I was getting a random E4 code that could be cleared by cycling the power. I never got this code during the summer. Even though the correct pressure is registering on the display, does this sound like a defective pressure sensing unit?

Greg, This is mine. Its in pretty good shape. I would have no problem swapping with you if you can find one in similar condition. Ray http://www.raymondstacy.com/br2.jpg

Here are the 2 different brackets. You want the one on the right. His price is a little high. I paid $125 for mine. You might want to make them another offer. http://www.raymondstacy.com/bracket.jpg

Its not that simple. The brackets are very different. Like I said, I have the brackets that you need. They are yours if you want them. Ray

Greg, I might be able to help you out here. I looked for 6 months on Ebay before finding one for my 86. The one I found was for an 83 (which is what you need.) The backrest is the same. Its the brackets that are different. MikesBike sent me brackets for my 86. If you decide to buy the one on Ebay, I will give you the brackets for the 83. Just let me know. Ray PS - Nice looking 83!

This thread helped me when I did mine http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=515 http://www.venturerider.org/wheel/MVC-250F.JPG -
I guess it is some kind of servo assist on the brakes. Apparently the BMW guys need help with getting their bikes to stop.

Thanks guys. This is the same module installed on his MDX. I am installing one on my bike this weekend. I was leaning towards putting the 20 watt led in my tail light assembly. After reading the feedback here I am considering using it to maybe drive the light bar on my trunk or I might buy the light bar that Jim Crane showed me a while back.

I have been using iespell for years. I never had a problem with it. I just found out that iespell fails on its own name!
-
My buddy is making this device that flashes either a light bar or a 20 watt LED that mounts inside your tail light assembly. What do you guys think is more effective? Do you like the idea of having the LED in your tail light or do you prefer a separate flashing light? Thanks, Ray

Its probably a good idea to add the castor if you run Magnum. That fuel isn't known for it's rust inhibiting qualites... We run Byron's Rotor Rage Master's Blend and never use after run oil. I haven't replaced a bearing in years. On the bench Thunder Tiger G4 E720 Flybarless EP Thunder Tiger G4 Flybarless Nitro Synergy E7 Synergy E6 And a bunch of odds and ends that I don't know what to do with.

Dont add the Seafoam. That stuff is not a cure all for everything! Do keep it sealed tight and in the dark. It will be fine.

Smart Phone instead of GPS???
rstacy replied to maineventurerider's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I went with the smart phone instead of a new GPS. It links to my Parrot Blue tooth head set. I have radio, mp3, phone, and now GPS support in my wireless headset. I did all of the things necessary to get the bike's on-board sound system just right and I never use it. It was worth it though. I like my bike being just right.- 19 replies

A couple of questions on the Venture Lite backrest
rstacy replied to rstacy's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks guys. It is the original seat. I'm going to install it but I didn't want the brackets digging on to the seat. Maybe it will work with a passenger but I'm a big guy and there may not be room for the three of us. Thats why I asked about quick removal. Condor, what are you saying no to? Ray -
It looks like the backrest is easy to remove for the times that I have a passenger on the bike. Is that correct? A couple of pins and pops off? Do the brackets for the backrest tend to dig in to the seat? Any wear marks or holes from the backrest or the brackets?
-
That has always been my concern and probably the reason that I haven't done the conversion.

Really? It varies that much?
