PHONEMAN, We will go next year!!!!! Sounds like VRIR will be on east coast so we probably won't get to go to that so we have to go to PIP. Hope we can just get in a short ride here this weekend. What's RogerII & Lori doing this weekend? C Ya, Patrolman46

My wife & I are both hot air balloon pilots & when we took our training we were taught to tell all of our passengers to help us keep an eye out for anything unusual. Well 20 years later it doesn't matter whose driving the other person helps watch for anything unusual. Now granted on a bike power lines & tall antennas are not of much concern, but gravel & distracted drivers are. We both just feel that two sets of eyes are better than one. Especially now at our age. (Did I say That?) We tend to get distracted more easily than 20 years ago. And a bike isn't very forgiving if you overdrive a corner. C Ya, Patrolamn46 & Babe

MikealiasMike, I said I would call you & let you know when I was going to be in MSP. Sorry to say I am not going to be able to make it this year. Darn sprinkler is just causing too many problems for me to leave Babe here alone with it. Blackowl, Thanks sooo much for the invite when we met in Cody. I was really looking forward to getting together for a good old BS session & learn some new lies, so I have new stories for my buddies around here. Thanks Again, Patrolman46 Keep all of us poor souls that can't attend posted on all the happenings & post some pictures if you dare.

Bubber, I won't be pickin Babe up in MSP cause I can't get her to come. Says somebody has to stay home & look after the livestock & sprinklers. Kinda makes me look like a bum, BUT I've looked that way before so here I come alone. Sorry to be so long in answering you but I haven't checked this thread or subscribed to it either. Still haven't had a return message from anyone going to "PORK" from the Rocky Mtn area. I will be leaving Thursday evening from the Scottsbluff, NE area heading in as direct a route as google will send me. Want to stay off the interstates if possible, but sometimes the reservations make it necessary to travel interstate. You can PM me if you want. C Ya, Patrolman46 Maybe I can talk Phoneman1980 into coming with me since we would sleeping on the ground. HAHA

Annie glad you got such great help in what could have been tragic!! Glad you're all ok & that we will get to see you in PIP. C Ya, Patrolman46 aka (Graderman46) Dan

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!
Patrolman46 replied to Sweetnothing's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Our thoughts & prayers are with David & his family. Thanks to all of the Venture Brothers that are keeping "Ponch" and family in their daily prayers and thoughts. There is power in the numbers!! Thanks to Squidly for keeping us updated. Less calls to the family probably better. Lots of us feel like we know David & Kathy, but really don't. But we are still Family in Heart. Best Wishes for a quick recovery & rehab..!!!! Patrolman46 & Babe & -
Creaking Rear Wheel SYNDROME
Patrolman46 replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have a 2006 RSTD purchased new this May as a factory hold over. 0 miles when I recieved it & it had the creaking noise the 1st day I rode it, so I mentioned it to the local Yamaha dealer & he talked about the alignment situation & said he would take care of it when we put a new tire on @ 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Now this guy has been in business for 30+ years here & is highly respected so I tend to believe him. Has anybody found that the problem is more serious than my dealer is saying? It still has the "creaking noise", especially in the morning when the bike is cold. It seems to quiet down with more miles during the day. I already have 2,700 miles on the bike & LOVE it more every day I ride it to work. (Mini Vacation every morning & afternoon) C Ya, Patrolman46 -
I have a Mustang seat on my 2006 RSTD with a quick remove backrest. The seat doesn't quite fit me right, but Rick Butler & I are talking about an adjustment on the seat when he gets back from tour. When I first started riding the TD it was OK with the stock seat. I thought, then Phoneman1981 insisted I try his Mustang seat with back rest & now I don't want to ride without it. So of course I bought it from him. He knew how I would like it. Soooo, not having a backrest on bike #2, I ordered a Utopia for my 2000 RSV MM which sort of a problem with the cream colored seats. But no problem with Utopia as they had the matching color backrest. I was disappointed when I ordered the backrest that it would be 5 weeks until it was made & shipped. But I decided to wait it out & in the meantime Phoneman1981, Lee, Babe & I went to VR International Rally in Cody & In a 10 day period I rode 1800 miles with no back rest. Had some pretty achy times on the long runs. Well the seat arrived & I got it put on over the weekend & took a short ride to town tonight to have dinner with Phoneman & Lee. Babe thought the backrest was going to be in her way when she first got on, which it wasn't. LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS LIKE RIDING IN A HIGHBACK SEAT IN A SEMI TRUCK. I NOW HAVE AN EIGHT HOUR OR MORE RIDE BIKE!!!! I can't imagine riding without the Utopia backrest ever again. The cost was a little high but worth every penny. I think I saw somebody else say the same thing about another backrest. What ever you do buy a good backrest & get it on your bike. It will be the best investment you can make in your bike for comfort. C Ya, Patrolman46

Ponch and Lil Bit, Our thought & PRAYERS will be with you Ponch..!! We only met you recently @ the VR Int Rally in Cody. We sat at the same table for the banquet and what a treat is was for Mark, Lee, Babe & I to get to meet Ponch & Lil Bit. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!! Patrolman46 & Babe -
After a long discussion with Black Owl about what "Poke in the Pines" really is & where it is & that we are invited to attend even if we pronounce it "Pork in the Pines" , I have decided that I'm going to try & get back there for Labor Day weekend. I will be leaving the Scottsbluff, NE area Thursday morning the 1st of Sept. I will most likely pick up Babe at the Minneapolis airport the 2nd & drive on to the rally. Anybody from this general area or west of Cheyenne, WY/Scottsbluff, NE headed to the "Pork in the Pines" I would sure like to hook up with you & ride to the rally together. That's about half the fun is getting to the rally with an old friend or a new one. Can't get Phoneman1981 to shake loose to go, so far. Let's get a group from here in the Rocky Mtn area to go to Black Owls party..!!!! C Ya, Parolman46 CELL = NINE SEVEN 0- THREE NINE SIX - SIXTEEN 0 SEVEN

I'm Patrolman46 & was with Phoneman1981 when he did his good deed for this poor stranded couple. I don't think many of you know Mark very well, but I'm sure RandyR will verify &vouch for what I'm about to say about our brother Mark. He truly should get the "Good Samaritan of The Year" award at our next rally. He just won't drive by anybody that is stranded or needs help. (I have witnessed 3 of these rescues myself). And he is truly doing it out of the goodness of his heart. He is also a really fun guy to rally with because he has a great sense of humor & loves life to the fullest. And he really loves his wife. (Kind of unusual after 30 years.) We are both really happy to have found the Venture Riders group & are looking forward to seeing you all at another rally soon. Well this should embarrass Phoneman1981 a little, but he needed to be recognized for the "GOOD GUY" he is. THANKS MARK..!!!! C Ya, Patrolman46

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY !!!!!! Officially You guys have a great time in Sturgis! Think about Babe & I broiling in Austin. C Ya, Patrolman46 & Babe PS I wish I was going back to Sturgis..!!!!!!!

Glad everyone got home in one piece..!!!!! Great Rally & really nice to make some new friends. At this age it's pretty unusual to make so many new friends. All due to the ventureriders.org..!!!! Thanks Randy I can't believe you burned it home so quick. Glad you had a great return trip & didn't have a wipeout on the dirt detour. Mark, Lee & I had an uneventful return to home, although we had some detours too. Looking forward to meeting up with you all again & some of the other members somewhere down the road. Black Owl invited us to come to the "Poke in the Pines", & I think I've got Babe talked into it. Now if I can find out some of the particulars, I will make more definite plans. Anybody have any info? I'm planning on going to the "Poke In the Pines", but don't know where to look for the particulars. Got a new screen name today. C Ya, Patrolman46 (AKA Graderman46)

At my age I didn't know there could be a bad screw. Woops!! It seems like the allen head screw are softer than any screw or bolt I've encountered. I was just tightening one on the luggage rack I put on my RSTD & the allen head rounded with just a handheld allen wrench, Not looking forward to taking that screw out. Good Luck, Patrolman46 (AKA Graderman46)

THANKS to Condor, Lone Eagle, and all the others responsible for organizing the BEST rally I've ever attended..!!!! We had such a great time getting to know some of the attendees. Quite a few we didn't get to know well, but you know how it is when you get sat down & get to shootin the $hI+ with somebody & don't get around. We were going to take a short ride to Cook City the 1st day, but I missed the turn & we ended up in Belfry, so we went to Red Lodge via the "Beartooth Highway", the #1 rated motorcycle ride in the US. It was beautiful & really fun to ride. Thanks to Lori for posting 20 photos that I reposted on my Facebook page. If you want to see them go to Facebook & friend me & you can look at the photos. Babe got into town about 7 & had dinner @ Adriano's. Great food Second day we just kind of vegged & rested. Babe & I went to the dinner & show @ Cody Cattle Co. & it was really a good show. Great music & entertainment. Home to Skyline for nightly bullfest in front of 51/52 till the we hours. Best time to get to know somebody when they've had a few libations. Fun stories from FUN people. Day 3 Mark & Lee, Babe & I escorted Lori as far as Thermopolis as she had to go home early. We took a short dip in the hot spring water. Supposed to be therapudic & give everlasting youth. I'd better bottle some of that. Had a really nice ride back through Greybull & then back to Cody. Nice farm country where they grow nearly all the Moravian Barley for the Coors beer. Attended the Banquet @ the Holiday. Sounds like most of the banquets have been outside in a parking lot before. Thanks for the upgrade Lone Eagle or whoever upgraded this party to the Holiday, IT WAS WONDERFUL, & the food was mountainrific! For those of you not attending you wouldn't believe the 6 table of raffle gifts this group had put together. Must have been $20,000 worth of loot. NICE JOB TO THE BOARD OR WHOEVER PUT THIS PARTY TOGETHER!!!!! Last day has to come at the end of every trip. Nice ride with Mark & Lee & Babe in the Tahoe to Shoshone, then Babe broke off toward Casper & we sent south to Rawlins. Great ride with some spectacular views & some pretty boring highway together. Mark & Lee broke off @ Walcott Junction to visit their daughter in Saratoga. I went on through Laramie & Fort Collins to Fort Morgan to visit with a long time friend & biker buddy. Day 4 rode with Richard B back to Greeley to go to cardiologist for my 6 month checkup since my heart attack. GREAT REPORT..!!!! Dr. Lin Wang Dong (no joke, that's his name) said he wishes he had 10 more patients with recovery like mine. Just what i wanted to hear. Met up with Richard again & rode to Ft Collins & had lunch @ Hooters next to Thunder Mtn Harley. Thanks for being such a GREAT friend Richard!! Got on the scoot & headed home with a heavy heart that the trip was about to end, But then I thought about Babe home alone & I ran up it to 85 & got home as quick as I could. Love To You'all, It Was a Great Time, Graderman46 & Babe & PS I may ask to change my handle to Patrolman46. It's the same thing just different time.

Fortunately all has turned out well. Keep a good outlook & stay in touch with us Venture guys. we will help you through this so you can get back out here & ride with us. Patrolman46 replied to Patrolman46's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
When you get home let me know what you want for the pipes. If they are reasonable I would sure like to try them. Are you coming to Cody for the rally? We are leaving next Sunday. Phoneman81 & I are leaving here next Sunday & might have a guy from GA joining us & picking up another guy in Lusk or Douglas. Looking forward to meeting all the Venture riders!! http://www.jhnewsandguide.com/graphics/hed-jhdaily.gif Valley sees norovirus By Johanna Love, Jackson Hole, Wyoming July 14, 2011 Wash your hands. That’s the only thing certain to help prevent the spread of norovirus, a gastrointestinal malady that is sweeping the valley, Teton County Public Health officials said Wednesday. An individual who became ill June 23 reported it to public health, Response Coordinator Tammy Marshall said. A physician reported another several cases of gastroenteritis the next day, prompting an investigation. On June 29, public health received confirmation that the clusters of illness were norovirus. Marshall hesitated to offer a specific number of cases, since many of them were not officially reported. “Widespread activity” is happening in Jackson, Teton Village and the neighboring national parks, she said. “It’s kind of known as the summer diarrhea,” she said. “I do believe activity this summer is higher.” According to Wyoming law, food service workers who have been vomiting or had diarrhea are barred from working for 72 hours after their symptoms cease, Marshall said. Those same guidelines should apply to day care or health care workers, she said. If your child is sick, keep her home, she said. If you are sick, stay home. Wash hands, and disinfect the bathroom and toilet with bleach. “Those are really the only infection-control measures we have,” Marshall said. Norovirus is spread through the feces and vomit of people infected. It’s a hardy virus that lives on environmental surfaces for a long time, she said. “If there’s vomiting involved, it also aerosolizes,” Marshall said. “It’s not just the fecal-oral route we always hear about.” Cruise ships are notorious for the virus even after a thorough cleaning, Marshall said. “It is very difficult to contain once it’s present in the environment,” she said. In the valley now, outbreaks are not limited to an age group or type of business, Marshall said. “It’s not limited to a specific demographic,” she said. “It’s pretty much across the board. We’ve gotten reports on residents and visitors. It’s been reported in the park, in Jackson, in the village, the whole area.” Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping. Sometimes people experience low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and fatigue. Illness often begins suddenly, and the infected person may feel very sick. The illness is usually brief, with symptoms lasting about one or two days. The main danger is dehydration. Antibiotics do not work against viruses; however, if illness lasts more than 72 hours, or if a person finds blood in his or her stool, that could indicate a more serious bacterial infection, and one might want to seek medical attention, officials said. People infected with norovirus are contagious from the moment that they begin feeling ill to at least three days after recovery, Marshall said. Some people may be contagious for as long as two weeks after recovery. I'm posting this as an advisory: My wife is nervous that some of us will not come because of this report. She is a registered nurse (retired) & says just like the article says wash your hands & keep them out of your eyes & mouth. C Ya All There, Graderman46:lightbulb:
