iPhone video on my bike, chirping or whine?
FreezyRider replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
Yep, that's just a minor whine. You ought to hear one that is bad! Also, you need to REV that puppy up once in awhile! -
99 rsv battery drain
FreezyRider replied to ccpeso's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If your charging system is putting out 13.5 volts at idle on an RSV....then I'd say there is something wrong. Mine is lucky to put out 12v at idle. The regulator/rectifier may be shorted and not really regulating anything anymore. Just curious, what does your voltmeter say at 3 or 4 thousand rpm?? I once almost blew up a battery on a Goldwing because the regulator went out and the system started charging at 17volts! Joe -
Wow, Curt. That is awesome....great song, touching lyrics, great video. Really a well done production sir!

My I-basket is on the way
FreezyRider replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
And how would they know you used MK unless you told them? It looks like oil, smells like oil.....they'd have to run an oil analysis and even then they'd have to PROVE that the additive caused the problem. At least that is the way it is in the US. They cannot automatically exclude warranty coverage for use of an additive any more than they could exclude warranty coverage for not using a Yamaha branded oil. The burden of proof is on them. Yeah, I know most people would be too intimidated to fight them on this issue, but it's the law....at least in the USA. Not sure about elsewhere.- 11 replies

Hey Dennis, I hope your I-Basket helps as much as mine did. You can add some MotorKote and help it even more. You'll be amazed what that stuff does. Joe- 11 replies

Not an RSV, his bike is a Tour Deluxe.

Yeah, he was one of my favs too. Even as a young adult. If he was still on somewhere I'd still be watching him, I'd bet!

That was "Son" in the southern way of speaking. You know, kinda like ol' Foghorn Leghorn...."Ah say, son, that ain't no chicken..." :rotf::rotf::rotf: But you're probably not old enough to remember that cartoon.

Lynn, notice that I had copied and pasted that info from post 39 on this thread, which WAS posted in August. Gotta learn to read, son!

Bump...... From post #39: Wanted to let you all know that I have a block of 15 rooms at the Baymont Inn in Corydon, In. These rooms are normally $69.95 per night but they are giving us a VentureRider price of $59.95 per night. Price includes a "deluxe" continental breakfast (sausage gravy and biscuits, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruits, muffins and bagels, etc. Also, free wireless internet and for the bodybuilders among us (surely there must be 2 or 3 out of 7000 members!) they have a fitness room. No pool or spa though....if you want to get wet we'll just throw you in the river! You must call and mention the VentureRiders to get this rate. Phone number is 812-738-1500. Any rooms not taken by Sept 25th will lose the "hold" on the room and be available for others. When you call also let them know your arrival and departure dates. We have some arriving on Friday, and some Saturday. Some leaving Sunday, others Monday. Gonna be a "go with the flow" meet! Time to get serious and get your reservations made folks!!! Tomorrow is September, October will be coming FAST.

Brake Discs Issues
FreezyRider replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It is so quick and easy to swap outer and inner pads.....just add this item to your list of things to do at each oil change. Your pads will last a lot longer. -
Weird turn signal issues

Hey, if they had a chirp or a whine you can bet I'd be dumping some MK into my flasher fluid reservoir!!! -
Weird turn signal issues
FreezyRider replied to FreezyRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep, it's a ground problem. BOTH rear turns are suffering from a bad ground. When I ground directly from the socket to a ground point the issue goes away. Now I have to find where the sockets are supposed to be grounded. Is it inside the rear fender? I can feel that the wiring comes through there, didn't have time last night to track down the grounding point for those signals. -
If you do some research you will see that the trucking industry has been using it for many years. Not aware of anyone here who has run it for more than a couple years, but if it was going to ruin an engine they wouldn't be running it in $$$ truck engines.

Weird turn signal issues
FreezyRider replied to FreezyRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Does the same thing in reverse when I turn on the left side. Still dims the other side as well as the brake light. So, you think I have a grounding problem on both sides? -
Well, tell Dan NOT to work on them if he's feeling a bit Jittery or nervous! Don't want any rejects moving me down the list! Joe

Weird turn signal issues
FreezyRider replied to FreezyRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks, but I don't need a brighter bulb until I figure out why using my turn signals causes all the rest of the lights to dim. Gotta fix the problem first. -
Weird turn signal issues
FreezyRider replied to FreezyRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I thought about it, but don't want to lose my self-cancelling feature. Actually, I'm not convinced that would solve my problem. I also have the Harley license plate frame with lights, and the signals cause those lights to dim as well when the turn signal flashes. And the HD lights have already been converted to LED. Joe -
What do you think it will be priced at, Bill? If you look at the pricing for the Vmax (and it doesn't have nearly the equipment that a touring bike will have to have in order to be successful) plus take into consideration that the MSRP on the 2010 Venture is over 19 GRAND (!!!!!!), I don't think Yamaha can pull it off at a price point that will be successful. You said yourself that they "don't care about us old farts" (and that is a huge mistake, the old farts have all the money, at least in the USA) but will cater to the upcoming generation. That generation may have big desires, but they have limited resources. And credit lines have been drying up, and will continue to do so in my opinion. Any company that wants to sell large quantities of high dollar items had best pay attention to the "Old farts" among us. Joe

I actually hope that Sir Snarley wins this bet and I have to pay off. I'd love to see the Venture live on, but my hopes for that dwindle with each passing year. Saw a new Kawasaki Voyager on the road this weekend, first one I'd seen around here. Looks nice....may have to ride one just to compare. Don't really know why, I sure can't afford one.
-
Snarley Bill and I have been "discussing" which direction Yamaha will go with their future touring bike....he says it will be an updated Venture with the new Vmax 1800 engine. I've been saying that I believe it will be based on the Stratoliner. Take a look at the 2010 Stratoliner Deluxe. They are halfway there....fairing, sound system, hard bags, etc. All it lacks for me is 1.) Cruise Control and 2.) the Trunk. Hey Bill.....I can almost taste that Culpepper's Fish!!! Joe

Well, since you're so smart, I'm sure you don't use any additional lighting on the front or rear either. Or footpegs. Or a trunk rack or liner bags. Surely you aren't using any cleaners or waxes for your bike that Yamaha doesn't ship with the bike???
