Grilled brats and tater salad!!! Yahoooo!

First, I'd like to thank everyone for the responses. I went out today and adjusted the pilot mixture screws out 1/4 turn. It was easy to do because the little caps that everyone talks about being on them weren't there. (I found that odd because EVERYONE said they would be and I purchased the bike brandy new so I don't think anyone already removed them.) Anyway, I took it for about a 15 mile ride and once I figured it was good and warmed up I tried a heavy deceleration while downshifting. Minimal popping and backfiring compared to before. I'll leave things as they are for a while and take the bike on a couple long trips and see how things go. If I still have a bit I might try adjusting out another 1/4" but we'll see. For now, I think I'm happy with the results. I'll go from here. Again, thank to everyone who gave me an opinion. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!

Kuryakyn Longhorn's. I believe you'll need the 1". I have them on my 06 RSTD and they are AWESOME. I have a 28" inseam and these things are FULLY adjustable. They work great. You should be able to find them for about $125 or so I think.

I rode about 250 miles yesterday and noticed that during moderate acceleration I'm getting a backfire at the top end of my gear when I shift to the next. Any thoughts? It also seems like the popping on decel is getting louder and more frequent. Now I'm starting to worry that this may be damaging to something???... Any thoughts of encouragment would be great.

Good luck with the rotator cuff. You'll be better than ever next year. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be 40+ degrees in February . Us Wisconinites can handle a little cold weather riding!!

My overall goal with these modifications was to open up the air flow a bit and rejet with larger jets to gain a little additional HP. I don't really want to plug anything if changing the jets will correct the problem. Does anyone believe that uping the size of the jets won't correct what I have going on now? My understanding is that the bike is running to lean after opening up the air flow. Installing bigger jets would add more gas thus correcting the leaness, correct? I hope I don't have this all 'wrapped around the axel'!!!

Good morning everyone. I've made a couple of changes to my 06 RSTD. I installed a set of RK exhaust that are drilled out on both ends (see through) and a set of K&N filters. After the installation of RK exhaust I started experiencing popping on decel when going from 4th down to 3rd and 3rd down to 2nd. After I installed the filters the exhaust seems a bit louder (the sound is perfect - not too loud but it sounds really nice on accelleration) and the popping does too. So, now that I've made those enhancements I want to rejet with bigger jets. My questions are: 1. Where and what jets should I buy? 2. Would rejetting take care of my popping issue? 3. Is there a step-by-step somewhere so I can do the install myself or would I be better off to take it to my Stealer considering my mechanical abilities are less that perfect? I've already stuck more money into the bike than I wanted too this year so any do-it-myself work would be acceptable. I just don't know if replacing the jets is something I should tackle. Thoughts, feelings, comments everyone? Thanks, Les

I HUGE thank you to them for their service. I have nothing but respect for any of our service men/women. They do a great thing for our county. I'm sure your sons will be safe and will come back perfectly fine and even better men than they are already.

Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
lshafer replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just put the Barrons Bullet end weights on mine that fit the ISO grips by Kury. They're pretty heavy but I don't know the exact weight. They look really nice but the're about 1/2" shorter than stock. I like them a lot. I think they ran be about $50 from my local Yammi shop. -
When riding 2-up with my wife I set the rear shock at 40 PSI and the front forks at about 5. That seems pretty good to us and together we are about 480 (me being the majority of it). That's a RSTD though and I believe you mentioned you ride an RSV. Not sure how much difference that would make. Just my thoughts for you.

Just lower your rails. That's what I did. I found a post on here from a guy that did it and I followed his instructions and it worked perfectly. Now the rails follow the body line of the bottom of the saddlebags and it looks great. The rails are now better than an inch from the touching the turn signals. I don't remember who posted it but if you do a search on 'saddlebag rails' you'll probably find it pretty quick. Someone will probably jump in and post the link for you if they haven't done so already... Good luck.

Need Prayers for Ponch!!!

All the best and prayers are sent. Take care and hope all turns out OK. -
You could have thrown a rock and hit my house from there. Glad you didn't though... just got new windows!!! I'm going to check on dates and see if I can swing it. The wife and I want to go for a nice ride prior to the end of the season so maybe this will work out. Northern MN and WI are our favorite places to ride so this would be perfect. Whether I make it to this one or not, I'm going to keep trying to make some event. Can't miss 'em all!!!

So, I'm new to some of these rallies and I'm just wondering where Pork (or Poke depending on what's on your mind) in the Pines is at. The way people are talking it's not far from where I am and I'd like to attend if I don't have to drive accross country (not that I'd be opposed to that - although the wife might be...). Any information would be great.

Congrats. Thirty years is a long time. Well worth it I'm sure. I hope to get there myself.

Let me check with Eck's son. I'll call him today and see what his thoughts are. If we can't come to an agreement then I'll let you know. Do you have any pics you could send me of them? Thanks, Les

Is there a difference between 95A & 98A? I mean, will one fit and one not or does it have something to do with NOISE or something. It would be great if you could clarify.

Thanks Eck. I look forward to hearing from you and talking to him. Gosh, I love this site!!!!!!!

I'm interested in finding a set of Road King exhaust pipes for my 06 RSTD. Does anyone know of anyone or have any they might be interested in parting with? I think I need a bracket too, but I'm not sure which or where to get one. My understanding is that Road King exhausts will give me a bit of sound without putting my wallet in too much jeopordy so I'd like to give them a shot. As long as my ears won't be ringing after an hour long ride, I'd be OK. Based on what I've read on around here, quite a few folks like them and it doesn't sound like they will have any type of negative impact on the performance of my bike. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

E3's have my vote. I've had them since May and love them. Of course, they have been my only experience since the stock Bridgestones which work better as lawn edging than motorcycle tires!!! Seriously, the E3's are great. I doubt you'd be disappointed.
